Warlock Apprentice

Chapter 2146: Chapter 2147: Bloodline Vial and Witch’s Soup

Little Sam hesitated for a moment, then, under the signal from Angel’s eyes, nodded and used a smear of blood to open the locked deerskin iron box.

When the iron box was opened, the contents were revealed in front of them.

There were only three items in total.

Two differently styled bottles, and a piece of parchment pressed underneath them.

Little Sam hesitated for a moment, then took out the bottle that appeared transparent first. This bottle had a very beautiful curve, like the torso of an elegant maiden.

At first glance, the bottle seemed transparent, but upon closer inspection, one could see tiny colorless threads inside, like lines drawn with a special engraving pen. These lines were intricate and beautiful, carrying a sense of mystery.

The liquid inside was thick and black, and if observed carefully, it resembled a dark vortex in deep space, as if it could suck one’s soul away.

Such an exquisite bottle contained a dense liquid that seemed like mud? What exactly were these liquids?

Just as Little Sam was filled with doubt, Angel’s voice came to his ear.

”This bottle is a specially made bloodline bottle. The price of the bottle alone is no less than a hundred magic crystals.”

”Bloodline bottle? Magic crystals?” Little Sam looked at Angel with confusion.

”Magic crystals are a currency circulated among wizards. Its value is very hard to measure with mundane things... If forced to convert it, one magic crystal would at least equal hundreds of pure gold coins, but that’s just a comparison. In reality, it’s very difficult to exchange.” Angel: ”As for the bloodline bottle, as the name implies, it’s a magic bottle for containing bloodlines.”

Little Sam was shocked. A single bottle was worth tens of thousands of gold coins? Does that mean this one bottle alone could buy Star Lake Castle?

Moreover, with such an expensive bottle, the liquid inside must be at least ten to a hundred times the price of the bottle!

Soon, Little Sam confirmed his suspicion through Angel’s words.

”The most valuable thing in this box is probably what’s inside this bottle. The bloodlines contained in a bloodline bottle are usually purified and can be directly integrated into oneself. And such purified bloodlines are not less than a thousand magic crystals; some rare bloodlines start bidding at ten thousand magic crystals at auction.”

A thousand magic crystals?! Originally, Little Sam didn’t feel much about the bottle in his hand, but now, he felt a bit shaky.

He carefully placed the bottle back into the box, afraid of bumping it.

Little Sam gazed deeply at this bloodline bottle for a long time, then closed his eyes and took a deep breath, saying, ”This bloodline bottle should be given to Mr. Pat. With such a precious item, given my current situation... holding onto it would bring disaster rather than luck.”

Even if Little Sam had enough social status, this bloodline bottle might not be good for him. Once exposed, it would be coveted. Moreover, Little Sam was currently reduced to slave status.

Angel waved his hand: ”This thing is of no use to me. It was left for you by Queen Rowling. I can feel that the bloodlines inside are perfectly compatible with you, and it should have been a gift left by Queen Rowling for a suitable descendant.”

If the bloodline were any other kind, for Little Sam’s sake, Angel might have really taken it away.

But the aura inside this bloodline was very compatible with Little Sam. Indeed, when Little Sam held the bloodline bottle, there were signs of the bloodline stirring inside. This showed that it was something Queen Rowling left for her kin, and only the descendants of Saint Sem could use it.

”Is this meant for a suitable descendant? Then... can I use it?” Little Sam’s face was filled with confusion.

”This is meant for the descendants of the Saint Sem family. It’s no use to others. However, in order to use it, you might find it difficult at present.”

Generally speaking, even a wizard on the bloodline path needs to at least reach the late stage of a junior apprentice or a second-level apprentice to withstand the bloodline.

Moreover, Little Sam was not yet a wizard apprentice.

However, since it was left to a suitable descendant of the Saint Sem family, perhaps it could lower the threshold for integrating the bloodline. Maybe when Little Sam reaches adulthood, he will be vigorous enough to bear this bloodline.

Upon hearing this, Little Sam said nothing but placed the bloodline bottle aside and took out the second bottle from inside.

Though called a bottle, it was more like an iron flask with a cap. It was just smaller than a flask and designed to resemble a bottle.

The shape was rough, not delicate at all.

Little Sam looked at it for a long time but found no useful information on this bottle. He dared not unscrew the sealed cap and could only hand it over to Angel, asking: ”Mr. Pat, do you know what’s inside this bottle?”

Angel did not discover what this bottle was during his previous sensing. When Little Sam handed it over, he carefully observed it again and finally noticed a concealed transcendent symbol on the cap.

A night-blooming flower whose petals leaned to the right.

This symbol, much like the emblem Angel had added to his own alchemy works, represented the identity of the alchemist.

And this right-leaning night-blooming flower represented a witch named Windsor.

Or rather, the Windsor school of witches.

Windsor was an alchemist in potionology, and what she excelled in was Witch’s Soup. The Windsor Witch Soup, created and named by her, was her particular style.

The most famous Witch’s Soup from the Windsor school was the Windsor Umbrella-style Witch’s Brew. A high-order potion, it was considered the best treatment for destructive spiritual power injuries. Whenever someone refined it, it would be wildly sought after.

Since the symbol of Windsor was on the cap, it meant that what was inside was likely a Witch’s Soup of the Windsor school.

But to know precisely which kind, it would need to be opened.

Witch’s Soup, unlike ordinary potions, had very limited effect volatilization even when exposed. So, Angel didn’t hesitate and directly unscrewed the cap.

The bottle was specially made, capable of preventing the Witch’s Soup from deteriorating over time. But even so, after so many years, the Witch’s Soup inside had already solidified into clumps. Fortunately, the effect had not deteriorated much and could still be consumed after heating.

However, if left for several more decades, the Witch’s Soup might genuinely spoil.

After smelling the scent inside and identifying the Witch’s Soup inside with the Eye of Nalda,

Angel had already determined what this Witch’s Soup was.

”I initially thought the bloodline bottle might be the most valuable, but now it seems what’s inside this bottle is no weaker than the bloodline within the bloodline bottle.” Angel remarked with emotion.

Little Sam: ”In that case, I will give it to you first...”

Angel shook his head, interrupting Little Sam: ”Although the item inside is valuable, it’s still of no use to me.”

”What’s inside is the Windsor Dual-Spiral Witch’s Brew.”

The full name is Windsor Dual-Line Spiral Witch’s Brew. The dual-line spiral here actually refers to the two spiritual power lines on the spiritual power measuring instrument.

And its function, as the name suggests, is to increase the height of these two spiral lines in the spiritual power measuring instrument.

In simple terms, it increases the upper limit of spiritual power.

The effect is even better than the Frost Night Potion, increasing the spiritual power value limit by 3 points.

In terms of value, it’s no cheaper than refined bloodline.

Angel looked at the bloodline bottle, then at the Windsor Double-Spin Witch’s Soup, and roughly understood Queen Rowling’s intention.

It seems Queen Rowling intends to cultivate suitable heirs from her lineage into true wizards. Increasing spiritual power value and matching bloodlines... it says it all.

Previously, Angel was worried that the bloodline in the bottle couldn’t be used by little Sam, but if he can become a Talented One, the bloodline will eventually be usable.

”Windsor Double-Spin Witch’s Soup, increasing spiritual power value limit... what does this mean?” Little Sam asked, puzzled.

Angel didn’t answer but instead pointed to the parchment pressed under the two bottles in the iron box: ”Why don’t you see what it says on the parchment? It should have the answers you’re looking for.”

Little Sam nodded and took out the parchment from the bottom layer of the iron box.

The edges of the parchment were frayed, but the text remained undamaged.

Although little Sam was a slave, he received noble education from a young age, so he was naturally literate. He picked up the parchment and began reading from the start.

Angel also used his spiritual power to look at the contents on the parchment.

After reading it, Angel was quite moved.

The content on the parchment was personally written by Queen Rowling, describing some events after she met the Magic Painter Wizard in her later years.

Rowling didn’t write about how she met the Magic Painter Wizard, only that they shared a common soul in art and became close friends. In Angel’s view, it’s probably the resonance between artists.

At that time, Rowling learned about the supernatural world from the Magic Painter Wizard, and filled with ambition, she yearned for it strongly.

However, by then, Rowling was already in her twilight years, and her spiritual power was inadequate, making forced practice futile.

So, Rowling placed her hopes on her descendants. She couldn’t practice, so be it, but if her descendants could become Transcendents, they might protect the family’s prosperity forever, or even transform the family into a Wizard Family.

Rowling shared her thoughts with the Magic Painter Wizard, who helped her leave behind the bloodline bottle and Witch’s Soup.

Generally speaking, Angel’s guesses were correct.

But in some details, Angel was off track.

For instance, the bloodline in the bloodline bottle was not sought out by Feng for Rowling, as originally thought, but wasn’t the truth.

Rowling clearly documented on the parchment—

”Mr. Feng told me, although my spiritual power wasn’t up to becoming a Transcendent, I had a special talent called Near-Spirit Body. Unfortunately, due to the thin concentration of my bloodline, it never manifested in my life.

However, Mr. Feng told me this is a talent that can be inherited through bloodline. The future you, who sees this letter, must also have this talent, because only a suitable person can enter this Inscription Space.

Your talent likely hasn’t manifested, but with the bloodline refined from my body, the concentration should be sufficient to exhibit your special talent.”

So, the suitable person referred to was a member of the Saint Sam family possessing the Near-Spirit Body talent.

The bloodline in the bottle wasn’t specially found by Feng but was extracted from Queen Rowling’s body.

No wonder Angel found the bloodline in the bloodline bottle extremely matched with little Sam. It turns out it was a continuation of the same lineage.

Looking at it this way, this bloodline is more useless to Angel and can only be used by little Sam.

By this time, little Sam had also finished reading the parchment’s contents. He was somewhat dazed after reading that Queen Rowling used her extracted bloodline to fulfill her descendants, hoping they could become wizards. She even specially prepared the Witch’s Soup to increase the spiritual power limit.

Furthermore, it recorded how to go to Flourish Continent and find supernatural organizations.

Queen Rowling had, in essence, laid out everything clearly for little Sam.

Little Sam was bewildered for a long time, then looked up at Angel: ”Mr. Pat, Queen Rowling left these for me, what should I do...”

”Do you want to become a wizard?” Angel looked at little Sam and asked.

Little Sam nodded without hesitation: ”I want to.”

”Then what are you still hesitating for?”

Little Sam: ”But, Queen Rowling hopes I can become a wizard to protect the Saint Sam family. Yet now, I’m just a slave.”

As little Sam spoke, he lowered his head, with a hint of sorrow and hatred in his eyes.

He was proud of being born into the Saint Sam family but resented the Silver Heron royal family, who now ruled Saint Sem City.

The Silver Heron royal family was also from the Saint Sam lineage, but they were a side branch in the past and are now the main line. Little Sam’s family was the main line but now only he remains, as a slave. The cause of all this was the Silver Heron royal family.

If he did become a wizard, would he have to protect a Silver Heron royal family that ruined his family?

Although Angel didn’t know the specifics of the Saint Sam family, a moment’s thought allowed him to understand the internal situation.

”Protecting the family lineage doesn’t mean you have to be responsible for every branch, every person in the family,” Angel said. ”As long as you live, or future your children can continue the bloodline, that’s still protecting the Saint Sam family. After all, you are also a member of this family.”

Little Sam was originally troubled, but after hearing Angel’s words, he was stunned. It seemed... to make sense.

He himself living also counted as continuing the Saint Sam family, being part of the family! There’s no need to protect the Silver Heron royal family!

”Then if I destroy the Silver Heron royal family in the future...”

”You shouldn’t think that far, the Silver Heron royal family has Transcendents,” Angel said, patting little Sam’s shoulder, indicating he should focus on the present and not fantasize about the future.

”Now, do you have a choice?”

This time little Sam no longer hesitated: ”I want to become a wizard.”

He still wanted to repay Mr. Pat, but the method of repayment didn’t have to involve giving these essentially useless items to Mr. Pat. In the future, when he truly becomes a wizard, he could find better ways to repay Mr. Pat.

Seeing little Sam’s face filled with determination, Angel said lightly, ”Don’t think that just having Witch’s Soup necessarily makes you a Talented One. A Talented One requires a baseline spiritual power value of 10 points. An average person’s spiritual power is usually 1-9 points. If your spiritual power is less than 7 points, even after drinking the Witch’s Soup, you still can’t become a Talented One.”

Little Sam hadn’t expected this hurdle, his confidence full at first, now began to feel anxious: ”Then what is my spiritual power value...”

”You’ll need to measure to find out.”
