Chapter 1341: Section 1342 Test Results

On the return journey, Popota’s heart was filled with curiosity and doubts.

Up to now, he was still unable to distinguish whether Angel’s law creation was that door which took them through space, or the white tentacle-like phantom limb that came after.

If it was the door, short-distance spatial displacement, although rare in the Wizards’ Realm, was not unheard of.

Phantom limbs, on the other hand, were something Popota was seeing for the first time, but it looked very much like a trick from the True Illusion Faction. Perhaps it already existed within the Wizards’ Realm, and it was just that he was ignorant of it.

Unable to get an answer, his heart itched with unease. He wanted to speak up but hesitated, and in the end, he didn’t ask even when they returned to the manor.

Popota could only return to his own room with regret.

… As soon as Angel returned to the manor, Lyon learned of his arrival from a servant and immediately came to find him.

“You’re finally back!” Lyon sighed dramatically in relief when he saw Angel, “That’s great, as long as you’re okay.”

Angel raised an eyebrow and gave him a sidelong glance, “From the sounds of it, you seem to be hoping something had happened to me?”

“Not at all,” Lyon chuckled and briefly explained, “It’s all because of His Excellency Illusion Demon; he came to me with a strange attitude earlier asking about you, and I got worried.”

“Mentor?” Angel was stunned, “He’s back?”

Lyon shook his head and narrated the events that happened in the Wilderness of Dreams, “…His Excellency Illusion Demon even made sure to ask if you had gone to the Whisker Sea. Seeing his complex expression back then, I thought something might have happened to you.”

After listening to Lyon, Angel was a bit puzzled. It was not strange for Sanders to look for him, given it concerned Jon’s situation, but why would Sanders inquire about him being at the Whisker Sea?

Could it be that word of the Law Creation Phenomenon had already spread to the Flourish Continent?

But then, the minor phenomenon he caused should not be enough to draw the attention of other wizards, right?

Perhaps Sanders was looking for him for another reason and just making sure of his whereabouts without other implications?

The specific situation was unknown, and after some thought, he decided to make a trip to the Wilderness of Dreams to see for himself.

Atop the Sky Tower.

After hearing Angel’s reason for coming, Frode shook his head, “His Excellency Illusion Demon is not in the Wilderness of Dreams, but the Magic Falcon he left behind is still at the top of the Sky Tower. If you have something to discuss with him, you might as well let the Magic Falcon return to reality and take this message to His Excellency Illusion Demon.”

Angel turned back and looked outside the window.

The noble and huge Magic Falcon was perched motionless on the tip of the Sky Tower, like a solemn statue, with its head bowed and sharp gaze surveying all of Originheart City.

“Speaking of which, when the Magic Falcon first appeared, its massive size quite startled the residents. But lately, everyone has gotten used to it, and with the Magic Falcon’s excellent vision being able to oversee every street in the city, it even helps the city defense team to keep an eye on the city’s safety. The residents have come to accept and recognize it,” Frode said with a smile. “I’ve always heard how personable the Magic Falcons of Illusion Demon Island are, and now I have truly witnessed it.”

“Sir, shall we go and speak to the Magic Falcon?” Frode suggested.

Angel pondered for a moment but then shook his head. There was no need to disturb it now; if Sanders had something urgent, he would re-enter the Wilderness of Dreams again.

In the following days, Sanders did not visit the Wilderness of Dreams.

Angel was not idle during these days; he entrusted Toby to be looked after by the Moonbell Sprite, while he began to study the outcomes of his law creation.

Speaking of law creation, Angel initially felt somewhat uncomfortable with it.

Because deep down, he did not really consider it his “creation.” Even if from a consequentialist point of view, after the Law Creation Phenomenon occurred, the Gate Model had his name imprinted on it.

But the reality was only clear to Angel himself, and since the Gate Model was not the result of his own thought and creation, he felt somewhat awkward about it.

However, when Angel truly began to study the Gate Model, these minor emotions were cast aside.

After several days of testing, Angel had gained some insights into this new magic.

The Gate Model is now the first trick fixed in his Witchcraft Slot.

Since he hadn’t yet confirmed what effect special energies might have on the Gate Model, he had not yet named it.

During these days, what Angel tested was purely the effect of “spatial displacement.”

Angel compiled several sets of data for analysis and also calculated the proportion of magic power consumed.

Based on the results of the tests, although the Gate Model allows for short-distance spatial displacement, the furthest distance it might transport could be around a hundred miles.

Why is the word “perhaps” used, expressing uncertainty?

The main reason is that there is too little Magic Power in Angel’s Magical Core, and the spatial displacement limit caused by the Gate Model has not yet been tested.

At the moment, the limit of spatial displacement distance that his Magic Power reserve can achieve is about sixty-odd miles.

Moreover, this is under the condition that his Magic Power is at full capacity, after approximately sixty-odd miles of teleportation, the Magic Power would be completely depleted.

Angel could feel that he had not reached the Gate Model’s furthest displacement distance. He would have to wait until he broke through the great barrier and had a larger Magic Power reserve to perhaps push the spatial displacement effect to its limit.

After reasonable deduction and mapping with some formulas, Angel estimated that the Gate Model’s furthest displacement distance might be around a hundred miles.

Currently, the more Magic Power consumed, the further the distance traversed. However, this increase in effect is not proportional.

For instance, if Angel were to perform a displacement of just a few meters or a couple of hundred meters, the Magic Power consumed would actually account for one-tenth of the total amount in his Magical Core.

Regarding Magic Power consumption, Angel had also discovered another characteristic.

This was something Angel had suspected before, that is, transporting other people along with him would increase the consumption of Magic Power. The amount of Magic Power consumed is affected by both the distance of displacement and the total number of people.

Last, the conclusion drawn from the comprehensive test results on the Magic Power consumption of the Gate Model:

First, the further the distance, the greater the consumption. However, a displacement distance of sixty-odd miles has no practical significance for “escaping or hurrying along,” and using Gravity Meridian to escape would consume less.

Second, the more people there are, the greater the consumption. This result isn’t very significant in practice since it can’t be used for “escaping or hurrying along,” and the situations requiring short-distance displacement with multiple people are rare.

Therefore, the conclusion is that with his current reserve of Magic Power in his Magical Core, don’t even think about using the Gate Model to escape. It is better suited for surprise strategic attacks in combat or for lifesaving transfers in a crisis. However, even with Magic Power at full capacity, it can only be used ten times, so it should be used judiciously.

Angel took out paper and pen and recorded these conclusions about Magic Power consumption in his notebook. Then he began to summarize the conclusions drawn from the effects of the Gate Model—

Because of the Witchcraft Slot, spatial displacement can be instantaneously cast. This can be used to save one’s life in a crisis, without worrying about the “gate” taking too long to open.

Additionally, the duration that the gate exists is controllable, and Angel can also control the gate to a considerable extent. For example, if an enemy were to enter the gate, Angel could cancel its effect at any time, effectively banishing the enemy in space, which could be considered a form of attack… of course, enemies aren’t usually so foolish as to enter someone else’s teleportation gate.

Compared to other spatial displacement abilities, the Gate Model has one major difference: it can transfer multiple people.

However, this point of distinction is essentially tasteless, an ability too insignificant to use extensively but too valuable to discard. Currently, with Angel’s Magic Power reserve, it is merely an auxiliary skill.

Angel recorded all of the final test results. After ensuring there were no errors, he cast his gaze upon the section about “Magic Power consumption.”

“Just considering the solidified Trick in the Witchcraft Slot, compared with other solidified Tricks I am aware of, the Magic Power consumption is indeed too great,” Angel murmured quietly to himself.

It is said it can be used ten times in a battle, but during an actual battle, you need to expend a lot of Magic Power to use other Tricks, so the real number of usable times might be just two or three.

Although this still significantly enhances strategic flexibility, if Magic Power consumption could be reduced, then control over space would be greatly improved.

After pondering, Angel picked up his pen and added a supplementary note on the issue of Magic Power consumption:

“The Magic Power consumption seems somewhat inflated, perhaps due to my foundation being more inclined towards Illusion Techniques? This remains to be proven.”

If he were of the Space Series, perhaps there would be ways to reduce the Magic Power demand for this kind of spatial displacement… Unfortunately, Angel was not of the Space Series and had to accept this outcome.

However, even though he was not of the Space Series, having such a strategically superior mobility skill was still very valuable.

Once he advanced to an Official Wizard in the future, he wouldn’t need to worry about Magic Power consumption, and then the Gate Model could be used for escaping. Of course, for long-distance displacement, opening a Plane Corridor with casting materials would be more convenient.

Although the final results of this test had flaws, overall, Angel was very satisfied to possess such a displacement skill.

In terms of practicality, it was far more useful than the Illusion Techniques Angel currently mastered. Even in the later stages of a wizard’s career, spatial displacement abilities remain highly practical, and while other wizards might need some time to cast displacement spells, he could achieve instant displacement, quickly gaining the upper hand in battle.

During the testing of spatial displacement, Angel didn’t forget that there was special energy within the Gate Model.

With the repeated use of the Gate Model, Angel noticed the special energy seemed to slowly Diffuse, and he could not understand if this diffusion meant an increase in total quantity, a dilution without changing the total amount, or something else.

But what could be foreseen was that eventually, the special energy might Diffuse throughout the entire Gate Model.

Angel made a reasonable guess that perhaps at that time, he would see the effect that special energy brought to the Gate Model?
