Warlock Apprentice

Chapter 1335: Section 1336 The Descent of World Consciousness

This feeling of swelling was not unfamiliar to Angel.

In the past, when he was preparing to break through a barrier, his Magical Core would produce this swelling sensation, a harbinger of imminent advancement.

The appearance of this sensation now meant… he could prepare to advance?

He had already reached the pinnacle of an Apprentice, and according to his original plan, he had thought it would take a long time before this feeling of Magical Core expansion would manifest. Could it be that he now had hope for advancement just after learning the Spell Technique of witchcraft today?

Angel could have attempted to break through the great barrier right now, but neither the time nor the place was ideal, and the barrier he faced this time was different from before, a breakthrough that could alter the course of a wizard’s life.

If he failed to break through, trying again would be many times more difficult than before. Therefore, Angel temporarily suppressed the urge in his heart, waiting until he was fully prepared before he would attempt breakthrough.

… Angel opened his eyes.

His original plan was to test the effects of “the door,” but as he opened his eyes, he suddenly felt something was amiss.

Threads and strands of wind brushed against his skin.

The wind in the windless zone was strange enough, but what made Angel feel even more peculiar was the indescribably heavy atmosphere surrounding him.

He slowly lifted his head, and the moment he did so, his movement abruptly froze.

He saw the swirling black clouds in the sky, and at the same time, he noticed the deep void at the center of the swirling clouds, like an eye set in the cloud layer, silently watching him.

Angel didn’t know why he imagined the center of the swirl as an eye, but he had this feeling in his heart that he was making eye contact with an unspeakable unknown entity.

“This is an omen.”

Shaking off the bizarre thoughts in his mind, Angel finally came back to his senses and seriously observed the changes in the sky.

Earlier, when his thoughts were completely immersed in the Mind Space, Angel hadn’t sensed any signs of anomaly in the outside world; he even thought he was being overly cautious, with no need to run to the sea to construct the Witchcraft Slot in the first place.

But now, the omen had appeared.

Was this omen caused by the Witchcraft Slot he created?

What was strange, though, was why the omen hadn’t produced a strong fluctuation before?

As Angel was pondering this, the fluctuation suddenly appeared.

This abrupt and unusual fluctuation came from the black clouds in the sky. Most bizarre was that this fluctuation seemed to resonate with some part of Angel’s soul.

A miraculous vision entered his mind.

Angel’s pupils constricted slightly, his face a mixture of daze and shock, and he murmured softly, “This is…”

…

What Angel didn’t know was that the moment he opened his eyes, the omen in the sky had already silently changed.

This understated and indescribable change was hard for the person at the center of the omen to detect, but hundreds of miles away, at the edge of the domain, Jiebo’s water incarnation noticed that something was wrong.

Jiebo hadn’t yet approached the domain circling the black clouds but already felt a weird oppressive sensation. This pressure was not intense, but Jiebo found that he couldn’t move forward any longer. With each step forward, the balance of water within him began to ripple.

This meant that taking one more step could potentially cause the water incarnation to collapse.

What on earth was happening?

The figure, glowing with a faint blue light, stood quietly on the night sea, as Jiebo watched the center of the oppressive black clouds from afar, seeing nothing.

Even now, when he tried to use his talent to sense the undercurrents beneath the sea to break through the limits of his own perception, he was unable to do so.

It was as if a natural barrier was repelling all things outside the range of the black clouds.

Jiebo frowned, “This must be an omen. But, I don’t recall any omen that would produce such a feeling of repulsion?”

Most importantly, this omen seemed very mild to his senses!

While Jiebo was puzzled, the omen in the sky abruptly transformed.

Fierce winds, blowing from the distant sea, made the surface churn non-stop. Before long, waves over ten meters high appeared, one after another crashing toward the center of the black clouds.

At the same time, a series of strange fluctuations began to emanate from the omen.

Jiebo was startled for a moment; he was familiar with this kind of fluctuation.

He had been wondering what strange omen this was, but the sudden fluctuation provided him with the answer.

During the Song of the Deep Sea, he had felt similar fluctuations, and they had come from his mentor—the ‘Sea God’ Florenza.

This was… the phenomenon of Law Creation.

When he perceived this fluctuation, Jiebo couldn’t help but feel curious, “Which Wizard is creating a spell here?”

A Law Creation Phenomenon capable of causing such an omen, if it were manifested by an Official Wizard, would be enough to advance into True Knowledge!

Although the omen didn’t seem that strong, especially compared to Florenza’s Creation, which had once shrouded half of the sea region with its extraordinary phenomena, Jiebo still considered it a level he couldn’t even aspire to reach.

As Jiebo was secretly guessing who might be creating a spell in such a remote location, suddenly, an immense and majestic intent fell from the dark clouds in the sky.

Even though Jiebo was still outside the range of the dark clouds, he felt a palpitation in his heart.

This grand intent did not seem to come from an intelligent life form, but instead resembled a… collective consciousness.

“Is this the world’s consciousness?”

There indeed had been cases where the world consciousness appeared during a Law Creation Phenomenon; such Creations usually involved significant rule changes. For example, when Greya stepped into True Knowledge through the Technique of Creation, the world consciousness descended.

However, Jiebo couldn’t fathom why this seemingly ordinary omen could attract the descent of the world’s consciousness.

What kind of spell is being created?

While Jiebo was full of question marks, in another distant part of the sea where his true body was, he suddenly perceived a call in his consciousness.

“Jiebo?” It was a low and husky voice filled with the vicissitudes of life.

Not only Jiebo’s true form heard the voice; Bai, who was by Jiebo’s side, heard it as well. Moreover, due to being blind, Bai was even more sensitive to sound and could even locate the current that carried the voice.

“Mentor?” Jiebo immediately recognized the speaker and respectfully asked, “May I know what you need from me?”

“I remember you have a water incarnation near the Whisker Sea. There is world consciousness descending there. Do you know what is happening?” Florenza inquired.

“The Mentor has perceived it too?” Jiebo was slightly startled. He remembered that his mentor was supposed to be in the far-off Endless Sea, yet he could sense what was happening in the Whisker Sea.

Jiebo: “My water incarnation is actually nearby at the moment. According to the omen’s fluctuations, it seems that someone is there creating a spell.”

“A Law Creation Phenomenon? That is possible,” Florenza mused for a moment, “but something still seems odd.”

“Odd?” Jiebo didn’t understand what Florenza meant.

“I just feel that this time, the world consciousness seems a little different from the past,” Florenza paused, “or maybe I’m thinking too much. Nevertheless, if you get the chance, try to see who is creating the spell.”

If it were an ordinary Wizard, they should be able to embark on that path with this Creation.

Jiebo nodded, about to say that his water incarnation couldn’t enter the range of the dark clouds, but he realized Florenza’s voice had already faded away.

…

Florenza was not the only one who could sense the situation in the Whisker Sea.

A small group of people standing at the pinnacle of the Wizard Realm in the Southern Domain had also faintly sensed the will of the world descending on the other side of the ocean.

However, these individuals were all seasoned and weathered, some indifferent, some casually glancing over, some observing with keen interest. But none were truly curious enough to pursue the matter to the end.

They also realized that the source of this omen was Creation.

At such a time, to intrude on someone else’s Creation would be considered distasteful. Even the most extreme Wizards wouldn’t do such a thing.

They weren’t too interested in what kind of Spell Technique was being created since the omen didn’t seem that strong.

Yet, it had been a long time since anyone had seen a Law Creation Phenomenon involving the world’s will, so they were somewhat curious about the person behind the Creation.

At that moment, in the Seventh Continent of the Stone Mulberry Dynasty, within the Pongul Theme Park.

Sanders was sitting across from a young man with a beaming smile within a rusty iron-clad Wizard’s Tower.

This young man appeared harmless, smiling innocently, but to mistake him for an easy target would be courting death.

The “Nerve Wanderer” Sterling, a Wizard who had embarked on the path of True Knowledge more than six hundred years before Sanders and was also an Alchemist who specialized in mechanical nerves.

Sanders’ visit to Sterling was, of course, due to some conditions in Jon’s body. Though Sterling focused on mechanical nerves, he was very knowledgeable about the human body; his hobby involved keenly transforming the nervous system into mechanical nerves—a task impossible without understanding the human body.

Chatting with Sterling was straightforward, and Sanders quickly received the answers he sought, even gaining some additional information. The only thing he regretted was the cost of conversing with Sterling.

Sterling was an excessively money-loving Wizard. To chat with him, no matter who you were, a price had to be paid.

Sanders didn’t want to recall how much he had spent, but at least the answers he received from Sterling were satisfying.

Just when the conversation was nearly over and Sanders was about to take his leave, both men paused for a moment.

The fluctuation from the descent of the world’s consciousness above the Whisker Sea had finally reached them.
