Warlock Apprentice

Chapter 1313: Section 1314: A Clear-cut Boundary between Jing and Wei

Suise saw that Sanders had woken up and went straight into the cage.

Looking down at Rolando, Sanders pondered with a thoughtful look in his eyes.

With a smirk on his lips, Rolando faced Sanders unabashedly with a sneering smile and a gaze filled with spite and weirdness.

Suise stepped forward, releasing the Silence Barrier of the cage: “Illusion Demon Your Excellency, have you discovered anything?”

Sanders calmly said, “While I was feigning sleep just now, I thought of a possibility. I need to verify my opinion.”

A possibility? Suise was somewhat puzzled, not knowing what Sanders was referring to, but he did not inquire further, just silently watching Sanders’s actions.

… Sanders extended his finger, and countless Illusion Nodes flowed out from his fingertips like a rainbow of colors, instantly surrounding Rolando.

Sensing the familiar fluctuation of illusion magic, Suise frowned: “Is this… an Illusion hypnosis?”

They had already tried many times before, using Illusion Techniques on Rolando for mental interference, but to no avail. Suise was somewhat puzzled as to why Sanders would try again?

Several minutes later, as Suise expected, the Illusion hypnosis had no effect.

Rolando also raised his head, donning a mocking smile: “Do you think by repeatedly using the same Illusion Technique, you could find a flaw? It’s useless, even if you are a True Knowledge Wizard, that’s all you amount to.”

A series of jeers echoed in their ears.

Sanders was not angry at all, but rather, he curved his lips, as if he had confirmed something.

He stepped out of the cage and walked back to the edge of the Geometric Lock.

“Illusion Demon Your Excellency?” Suise wanted to ask what Sanders’s behavior meant, but as he went to speak, he held back. As Rolando had said, they had already interfered with Rolando’s mind many times before, trying to find a flaw, yet they had found nothing. Perhaps Sanders was just whimsically testing something out?

“I have some findings, allow me to ponder,” Sanders said lightly.

Without waiting for Suise’s response, he sat cross-legged in the corner, setting up an isolation barrier around him, appearing to fall into a feigned sleep.

Suise did not really believe that Sanders had made any discovery, thinking he was just speaking offhandedly. But Sanders had a ‘do not disturb’ demeanor about him, as though he was truly pondering.

Suise turned back to look at Rolando within the cage, who bore a gloomy demeanor, and he sighed deeply.

Hopefully, Sanders has really found something…

In the Wilderness of Dreams, Originheart City.

The figure of Sanders appeared as if he was emerging from a mirror, materializing from nothing, unhindered by the Gate of Dreams, and directly traversed the Dream Bridge back to the place he had left earlier.

It was still that noble-style residence, and the exquisite tea set was laid out before him; the tea in the cup was still emitting wisps of white steam.

Angel sat across the table, looking at him with a curious gaze: “Mentor, have you found anything?”

“I went back to experiment. While interfering with Rolando’s mind, I did indeed sense something amiss,” a fleeting light shined in Sanders’s eyes as he recalled the peculiar force he had felt, attempting to articulate it: “It’s indeed a Mysterious Power. These Mysterious Powers are entrenched with Rolando’s mental consciousness, and wrapped in a mass of Negative Energy. It’s like a conglomeration of Negative Energy, but its location is in the Spirit Sea…”

“…I suspect that this has resulted in the formation of a second personality entirely composed of Negative Energy.”

Sanders’s implication was similar to his previous conjecture: This second personality could very well be constituted by Mysterious Powers.

Even if his second personality appeared owing to a Mysterious Object, Angel still did not understand the significance of Sanders’s point. What did identifying this detail mean?

“What does this mean?” Sanders chuckled, “Since we speculate that his second personality has emerged due to Mysterious Powers, we can tentatively consider his first personality as the primary one.”

Pausing for a moment, Sanders spoke softly, “What do you think, has his first personality been influenced by Mysterious Powers?”

Angel was taken aback for a moment, assuming that if the second personality was caused by Mysterious Powers, its specific manifestation would be, as Sanders had previously praised, impeccable.

And Rolando’s first personality, even though Angel hadn’t truly interacted with it, could generally be deduced to have certain flaws. Of course, these flaws were not unique to Rolando, but were common human vulnerabilities or insufficiencies.

If there were no flaws, the second personality wouldn’t be so eager to replace the primary one.

Because Angel understood that the primary personality would inevitably expose something when faced with mental interference or soul probing; otherwise, it wouldn’t have been able to prevail.

Thus, the answer to Sanders’s question was clear: Since the primary personality still had deficiencies, the likelihood of it being influenced by Mysterious Powers was low.

Sanders: “Since the second personality is difficult to deal with due to the enhancement from the Mysterious Power, our target should be focused on the primary personality.”

Angel still didn’t understand the connection because now everything had returned to the Origin Point. How could he find the first personality hidden deep within Rolando’s consciousness?

“The things I mentioned before are just the prerequisite conditions,” Sanders suddenly stood up, walked to the edge of the room, and approached a dim oil lamp with exquisite carvings.

Sanders extinguished the oil lamp and poured out its fuel.

It was a bottle of clear oil, still in liquid form.

In Angel’s puzzled expression, Sanders poured the lamp oil into a glass of water, and the amber oil naturally formed two distinct layers with the water.

“Just as with this water and oil, even though they coexist in the same body, they are clearly delineated,” Sanders said. “His first and second personalities are also clearly delineated; they are completely different entities. If we can find out why they are different, we might locate his first personality.”

“And didn’t the things I mention earlier already point out a difference?”

Sanders’s words enlightened Angel. Rolando’s second personality possessed mysterious characteristics, while his first personality likely remained untainted by the mysterious power. That was the difference!

Now the question was: starting from this distinct difference, how could he locate the first personality?

“One involves the intervention of mystique, and the other is a common personality, devoid of mysterious power,” Angel murmured softly, and suddenly, he thought of a possibility: “Wilderness of Dreams?”

Indeed, in reality, it was very difficult to separate Rolando’s two personalities. But what about the Wilderness of Dreams?

Before, Angel had tried pulling the servants from the wine cellar into the Wilderness of Dreams, but because their Spirit Seas were occupied by the mysterious energy from Crimson Authority, that trait prevented them from entering the Wilderness of Dreams.

This situation was very similar to that of Rolando’s second personality because it was saturated with Mysterious Power, it would definitely be rejected by the Wilderness of Dreams. But what about the utterly ordinary first personality consciousness? Would it also be rejected?

Angel felt that the answer was likely: no.

If he could indeed use the Wilderness of Dreams to separate the two personalities, then there would be many more options moving forward!

“Correct, we can use the Wilderness of Dreams’ inability to accommodate the mystique to separate Rolando’s dual personalities,” Sanders nodded, “But now there’s another question, will the Wilderness of Dreams really hold up?”

A personality, from a certain perspective, is essentially the aggregate of one’s self-consciousness. And the Wilderness of Dreams accommodates the Consciousness Spark, which sounds like it could be accepted, but the exact circumstances are still unknown.

“Whether it can accommodate or not, we can just test directly. If it’s not what we want that comes in, I can simply kick him out through the double authority of the Gate of Dreams and the Gatekeeper,” Angel paused, “It’s also the perfect opportunity to test whether the Mentor can pull someone into the Wilderness of Dreams.”

Since Sanders could enter the Wilderness of Dreams through Nightmare Illusion himself, Angel had almost confirmed that Sanders could also bring someone else along.

However, without empirical data, it was all just speculation, and a test was needed to be certain.

Sanders nodded, his form gradually becoming blurry, and he soon vanished from the room.

Back in reality, Sanders opened his eyes from his “feigned sleep.”

Suise refrained from asking Sanders whether he had found anything, fearing a negative answer that would cause him embarrassment.

However, what Suise didn’t expect was that Sanders approached him, “I have a plan, but I need to test it.”

Sanders stopped there, and while Suise was about to ask if he needed help, he saw Sanders’s expression and realized something.

“I’ll wait outside the Geometric Lock,” Suise said, understanding that Sanders wanted privacy. He nodded and then left without hesitation.

In Suise’s mind, the fact that Sanders sent him away might mean he had a hidden trump card he didn’t wish to reveal. Though curious, Suise would not pry into others’ secrets. He felt slightly relieved; if Sanders really deployed a card he didn’t want to show others, it might actually be useful.

Inside the Geometric Lock, only Sanders and Rolando, caged in his cell, remained.

Rolando had heard what Sanders said, but he didn’t believe in Sanders’s “idea.” He watched Sanders with a mocking expression, as if watching a clown perform.

At that moment, Sanders whispered, “You are a personality created by the Mysterious Object, aren’t you?”

Rolando’s expression remained unchanged, but a barely perceptible glimmer seemed to flash in the depths of his eyes.

Sanders caught that detail, his lips curling into a smile. He said nothing more and extended his hand towards Rolando. A strange energy promptly enveloped Rolando.

“A Dream Trick?” Rolando suddenly laughed, “This is your so-called plan? But alas, it’s useless against me.”

Sanders looked at Rolando calmly. “Really useless?”

Rolando was taken aback, seemingly realizing something, and his expression changed dramatically.
