Warlock Apprentice

Angel recounted the dilemma he faced regarding the White Bear.

”So, when you asked the White Bear to give me his most treasured item, was it because you saw some vision?” Angel asked.

The White Bear also looked at Dororo with an eager gaze. He had questioned Dororo countless times before, but Dororo never offered any explanation.

Under everyone’s gaze, Dororo shook his head, ”As for a vision, I did not see one. However, when I observed the River of Fate, I vaguely foresaw something and acted according to that enlightenment, instructing the White Bear to hand over his most precious possession to you.”

”Enlightenment? What exactly do you mean?” Angel wondered.

”My ability wasn’t strong enough to pierce through the Mist, I just vaguely sensed something. However, now,” Dororo paused and looked at Angel, ”I can try to have a look. Could you lend me the item that the White Bear cherishes for a moment?”

Angel glanced at the White Bear, who nodded, and only then did Angel take out the White Bear stuffed toy and placed it in front of Dororo.

”I will do my best to unravel the truth,” Dororo promised Angel solemnly before turning his gaze to the slightly yellowing White Bear stuffed toy and slowly reaching out his hand.

Dororo’s hand didn’t actually touch the toy, there was still a fist’s distance between them, and in that small gap, Angel felt an odd fluctuation.

To the naked eye, it appeared that Dororo’s hand was touching some kind of spatial barrier, and with a slight manipulation of his fingertips, caused the air to ripple.

And on the ordinary White Bear stuffed toy, an unknown transformation seemed to take place.

”Is this Dororo’s art of Divination?” Angel curiously observed the scene before him.

On the other hand, Popota’s expression was complicated, revealing expectation, urgency, and tension about the truth, but he was also astonished by the Divination technique Dororo had displayed.

He had always known that Dororo’s talent in Divination was far greater than his own, but Dororo was a low-profile person who also disliked interacting with others, so the White Bear was never too clear about his current strength.

Now he understood.

While he himself was still following the currents of fate, searching for a way out in the labyrinth of the River of Fate, Dororo had already begun to observe the River of Fate and made attempts to touch it, to interpret, and even to change it.

Such a powerful Divination ability, the White Bear had only witnessed in Mentor Maya before, and Dororo had reached this level in just over a year. The White Bear’s eyes were filled with both shame and deep admiration.

It took a while before Dororo withdrew his hand, the energy ripples returned to calm, and he fell into deep thought.

After a long time, Dororo’s expression showed embarrassment as he bowed his head towards Angel, ”My ability has still not reached the level to sort out this matter. There are some things that seem to be cloaked by some strange energy, preventing me from making a correct interpretation.”

Disappointment showed in the White Bear’s eyes.

Angel sighed softly, comforting Dororo in a low voice, that it wasn’t his fault.

”However, I did see some fragments of visions, which I can share with Angel,” Dororo added, bringing hope when it seemed there was none.

Upon saying so, Dororo initiated a Psychic connection with Angel using the Mind Ribbon.

Immediately after, Dororo shared the disjointed visions he witnessed through the Mind Ribbon with Angel.

The White Bear looked on with a tearless grief, pondering whether this matter was related to him at all? He should have a part in the Mind Ribbon connection too... Yet he was ignored from beginning to end.

The images Dororo transmitted were indeed fragmented. Most had no cause or consequence, merely a figure. It was normal that he could not interpret it.

But many of those images had something to do with Pat Manor, and as someone from Pat Manor, Angel had a clear understanding of what went on there. So although he was not a Prophet Wizard, he could interpret these images better than Dororo.

After a while, Dororo stopped the Psychic connection.

The White Bear looked at Angel with a desperate gaze, hopeful for an answer.

When everyone turned their eyes to Angel, they found his pupils constricted, his face full of disbelief.

”What exactly happened?” the White Bear couldn’t help asking.

Angel didn’t respond, but suddenly stood up, ”I need to confirm something, please wait a moment.”

With that, Angel swiftly left the hall. Sanders followed Angel’s movement to find him returning to his room. As soon as he entered, Angel took out the cube lock.

Sanders remembered Angel once mentioning that this cube lock, named the ”Geometric Lock”, was engraved with the ”Breathless Seal” Magical Energy Array. It is a combined defensive, concealing, and essence-hiding Magical Energy Array, capable of suppressing the spread of mystical fluctuations to the maximum extent, confining them within a nearly hundred-mile radius.

Angel created the Geometric Lock because, as he said himself, it was to prevent others from detecting fluctuations when he eventually used the ”Dream Conch of Moonlit Coast.” However, Angel would also use the Geometric Lock when practicing alchemy or entering the Wilderness of Dreams, to shield himself from prying eyes.

Sanders had waited for a long time, but he did not detect any mysterious fluctuations. Could it mean that Angel had entered the Wilderness of Dreams?

What did he see from Dororo that made him so anxiously enter the Wilderness of Dreams?

After pondering for a moment, Sanders stood up from the sofa. He called the butler Good into the hall and instructed him, ”Take care of the two guests for me, I’m going to check on something.”

With that, Sanders stepped out of the hall, and soon, he was standing in front of Angel’s door.

Just as Sanders settled in place, the Geometric Lock inside was lifted, and the door swung open, revealing Angel’s face.

Angel looked anxious, and when he saw Sanders at the door, he paused for a moment, then immediately said, ”Mentor, I want to return to the Old Earth Continent immediately!”

Sanders watched Angel calmly, ”What happened?”

Angel took a deep breath, trying to compose himself, nodded, and began to relay the scenes he had seen earlier.

…

The images transmitted to Angel by Dororo, which he himself could not interpret, and Angel, being part of the situation, could only partially interpret, contained a few specific images that suddenly reminded him of something.

One of the images had a background of the stilt house where Jon used to live.

Ever since Jon entered the Ice Coffin, Eulica had occupied the stilt house. In the image sent to Angel by Dororo, it indeed showed Eulica’s figure.

Eulica stood in the very center of the ground floor hall of the stilt house. Because she was facing away, her face could not be seen, but Angel noticed her posture was extremely odd, nothing like Eulica’s usual demeanor. Most importantly, beneath her bright red skirt, a pool of fresh blood was visible.

This was the first picture that unsettled Angel.

Another image made Angel feel even more uncomfortable. This picture also centered on Eulica, with the same background of the stilt house, but this time, Eulica wasn’t inside—instead, she stood on the rooftop of the stilt house.

Eulica still used the previous odd posture, standing on the rooftop. Behind her was a starless night sky and a huge moon that looked like a disk.

Because it was night, and she was against the moonlight, Angel could not see Eulica’s face in this image.

But distinctly, he saw the eerie, terrifying, and cold red glow shining from Eulica’s eyes!

The subsequent image no longer featured Eulica, but instead provided a bird’s-eye view of Pat Manor in its entirety. In this overview, Pat Manor seemed unchanged, but a closer inspection revealed that the entire manor seemed to be enveloped in a thin layer of unsettling red glow.

These three fragmented images were what Dororo transmitted through the Psychic Branch.

Of course, there were other images too; however, they all seemed normal, and Angel could not identify any clues from them. It was only these three images that were particularly eerie.

Firstly, about Eulica. Although Angel had reservations about Eulica, her character was actually considered to be more of a White Wizard in the Wizards’ Realm, and Eulica herself was relatively less abrasive. Yet the two images of her showed a strange side that did not match Eulica’s real image at all.

Especially the weird red glow in Eulica’s eyes under the moon, it sent shivers down Angel’s spine.

The image of Eulica reminded Angel of something.

Since the Kulakuka Tribe moved to Pat Manor, those enthusiastic, lively girls gradually formed an alliance. They were keen on all manner of joyful affairs and loved to host tea parties.

Angel had never participated in their girl’s tea parties, but Toby, the male bird, followed the genderless Flower Demon, the Moonbell Sprite, to the tea parties multiple times to mooch food.

Once, while Angel was looking for Toby, he overheard some of the gossip from the Kulakuka girls’ tea party. He discovered that their tea parties were full of different kinds of gossip.

Their discussions were unrestrained and audacious. Gossiping about their superior Lyon was one thing, but they also talked about Transcendents, including Angel himself, and Eulica.

In particular, Angel heard a rumor about Eulica from one of the girls.

One day, a girl had accidentally seen Eulica’s eyes suddenly turn red, and when they did, her demeanor seemed to change completely, appearing expressionless, yet exuding an intimidating air.

At the time, no one believed it, and neither did Angel. Their tea party was known for not only gossiping but also for exaggeration and baseless stories. There were even rumors that Lyon had a secret lover hidden in his room—mere hearsay, and not credible.

But after seeing the images sent by Dororo, Angel now recalled that perhaps, that girl was right!
