Chapter 1581: Section 1582: Shalu’s Transformation

The authority of the Mist of Sin could afford to be inherited by one more, and that would also be beneficial for the protection of the residents of the Dream Realm. Therefore, as long as Labu passes Frode’s evaluation and is deemed suitable, Angel would not mind bestowing the authority of the Mist of Sin upon him.

Authority is one thing, but suppressing the creatures of the Mist of Sin is another.

Although Angel has raised this idea, it is still just a proposal. Before implementing and executing it, experiments must be conducted to ascertain the usefulness of Angel’s proposal.

Since experiments are necessary, naturally, a subject is required.

Due to the specificity of this experiment, it must be approached with solemnity.

So, whom should they choose?

As Angel was contemplating, there came a rustling sound from behind them, originating from a glass chamber covered with black cloth.

Angel’s gaze was fixed on the upright glass chamber, and a flicker of sharp light passed through his eyes.

Southern City, the stone pillars of the Colosseum.

The previous pinnacle duel between Tullas and Sir Sabel had taken place here. Although the duel had long passed, its influence still lingered, continuing to be a popular topic of conversation.

Today, there are no spectators in the stone pillar Colosseum, but a battle is taking place there nonetheless, one that perhaps is even more intense than the previous one between Tullas and Sabel.

One of the fighters is still Sir Sabel.

But the other is not Tullas. Instead, it is a man who was previously considered a “lost cause” by everyone – Lisa’s brother, Shalu.

On the arena, Shalu’s speed was unimaginably fast, so much so that ordinary people could barely capture a glimpse of his shadow.

However, facing Shalu’s speed, Sir Sabel was utterly unafraid, leisurely drawing a “circle” in the position he stood with the Knight’s Stiletto in his hand. Within this “circle,” Sabel could achieve “thought as catalyst, mind as destination, blade to strike.” It can be said that this circle was the Domain of Sabel’s Stiletto.

No matter how fast Shalu was, whenever he tried to break into this circle from any angle, he would be instantly intercepted. Even attacking from a blind spot in Sabel’s field of vision was futile. The stiletto seemed to have eyes of its own and could still counter Shalu.

Just like now, Shalu’s speed was extremely fast, turning into afterimages, and while Sabel was distracted, he appeared behind him.

Seeing Sabel’s unguarded back, joy flashed across Shalu’s face.

Leaning his body, he forcefully kicked off the ground with his left foot, rushing towards Sabel like a cannonball.

With a thunderous boom, Shalu’s speed was so swift it even caused a loud burst of air.

Even if Sabel managed to react in time, Shalu believed it would be too late! Shalu was extremely proud of his current speed; he was certain that within Originheart City, aside from a few of the higher-ups, no one, including Sabel, could capture his motion.

However, just as Shalu entered the Domain of Sabel’s Stiletto, thinking he could breach the defense, a stiletto suddenly appeared in front of him, aimed right at his forehead.

The sharpness of the stiletto was nearly tangible, coated with an icy glint.

Shalu was fast, but he had yet to achieve perfect control. For example, making a fine turn to deflect the stiletto was difficult for him.

But if he were reckless, the stiletto would undoubtedly pierce his forehead.

Under the threat to his life, since Shalu couldn’t achieve detailed evasion, he was forced to make a sharp ninety-degree turn. After a loud “bang,” Shalu tumbled and came to a stop not far from Sabel.

Panting heavily, although Shalu was not wounded by the stiletto, the sensation of nearly being on the brink of death left him thoroughly chilled.

On the other side, Sabel waved his rapier with nonchalance, his relaxed and smooth movements forming a stark contrast with Shalu.

“Strong, incredibly strong!” Lyon couldn’t help but slam the table in praise from the side of the arena.

Lyon felt his luck was truly amazing; he had initially entered Originheart City to discuss battle techniques with Sir Sabel, only to find Sir Sabel absent. Feeling disappointed, Lyon was approached by the City Lord Monroe, who mentioned that Frode was looking for him.

But when Lyon went to see Frode, Frode said there was no longer an issue. Later, learning that Lyon was there to seek out Sabel, Frode took him to the Colosseum’s stone pillars.

There, Lyon encountered his long-lost brother, Angel.

Before he could properly greet Angel, Lyon was captivated by the match on stage.

Lyon did not know who Sir Sabel’s opponent was, but the duel was undoubtedly magnificent. From just the short part he had seen, he could tell. Whether it was Shalu’s formidable physical prowess or Sabel’s tranquil Domain, untouched by the fireworks of the mundane, it left Lyon utterly enchanted.

This match even brought him more joy than those he had seen in the New Star competition.

Of course, it’s not to say that the New Star competition wasn’t exciting, but the main reason was that Lyon felt too inferior; the tournament was now progressing to the final rounds, with all contestants being potential seeds, their strength far surpassing his. Watching those matches, Lyon could only see through a fog, unable to discern the intricacies underlying them.

Taking advantage of the break in the match, Lyon leaned over to his brother Angel beside him and asked, “Who is the person dueling Sir Sabel?”

Angel replied: “Shalu.”

Shalu? A glint of confusion flickered across Lyon’s face: “Does Originheart City have someone this powerful? Could it be…”

Lyon leaned closer to Angel, lowering his voice, “Someone who recently arrived?”

“No, Shalu was one of the first ones here,” Angel’s response only deepened Lyon’s confusion. How had he never heard of him before if it was one of the first? Neither Sir Sabel nor Sheriff Tullas had ever mentioned him, had they?

At this moment, Frode interjected, “You should have heard of Lisa, right? Shalu is Lisa’s younger brother.”

“Lisa’s younger brother?” Lyon was somewhat surprised by this revelation; he knew of Lisa who would report to Tullas, and he had heard that Lisa’s brother seemed to be a good-for-nothing, a vagrant spreading unsavory rumors about City Lord Monroe. When he was being captured, he fled outside the city, and there had been no news of him since.

Now Frode was suddenly implying that the man on the stage with formidable physical prowess was Lisa’s brother? That was truly fantastical.

Did something happen to Shalu after he fled the city? Otherwise, how had he become so powerful?

But Lyon knew that beyond the city lay nothing but a vast, barren wilderness where Shalu could only be banished.

How had he managed such a transformation?

As Lyon pondered, Sir Sabel suddenly uttered an “Eh” on the stage, drawing Lyon’s attention as well. He looked up to see a look of surprise and doubt on Sabel’s normally impassive face. And the object of his astonishment was none other than Shalu standing on the other side.

About ten meters away from Sabel, Shalu was exhibiting a condition completely different from before.

His eyes, which were normally clear-cut black and white, now seemed as if ink had dripped into them, with the whites quickly turning black before his eyes. Eventually, they turned into pure black pupils.

Not only that, but Shalu was hunched over, his upper body swaying as if he were drunk.

However, amidst his swaying, a black smoke began to emerge from his body.

The smoke rose slowly into the air, forming the vague outline of a grotesque and terrifying creature; its head resembled a worm, its ears like the wings of a butterfly, its body serpentine, complete with spiny segments and limbs, akin to a centipede.

This monstrous creature appeared only for an instant before dissolving back into smoke and vanishing.

At the same time, Shalu’s body began to contort, sprouting sharp spines all over, just like the creature had moments before…
