Warlock Apprentice

Chapter 1579: Section 1580: Chaos

Frode, after opening the door, revealed the face of Monroe, the City Lord of Marine Theater.

Monroe evidently looked different from usual. Her face was filled with anxiety, as if she had something urgent to say. Running up from the ground floor to the top of Sky Tower clearly exhausted her. Even though she kept patting her chest, her speech was intermittent: “Lord Tyson, it’s not good, outside… outside… something happened!”

The more hurried she was, the less coherent her words became.

However, having mentioned “outside,” Frode suddenly understood. Probably she was startled by the weather changes.

“I am aware of the weather changing. What’s there to fuss about it? Haven’t you ever seen a clear sky before?” Frode rebuked.

Monroe hurriedly shook her head, and her breathing had settled a bit at this moment: “It’s not like that, the weather outside is not clear, it’s very strange, and some people have disappeared.”

Frode was stunned for a moment.

Why mention ’strange weather’ and ’people disappearing’ together? What’s the intrinsic logical connection?

“It can’t be that the thunder and lightning struck someone out of existence, right?” Frode said with some confusion, turning to walk to the balcony doors. Just as he was about to go out and check the situation, a bolt of thunder came crashing down from the sky, landing not far in front of Frode.

Staring at the hole that had been created in front of him, the charred ground, and himself murmuring words, Frode was frozen in place in an instant.

Was this a self-fulfilling prophecy?

Could it really be divine punishment from the sky, reducing people to ashes?

However, the truth was not so. Indeed, people had disappeared, but not because they were struck by lightning – they were blown away by the strong winds.

Standing at the top of Sky Tower, Frode surveyed Originheart City and could only describe the current situation with one word: in shambles.

Now he finally understood why Monroe was so insistent that the weather outside was very strange.

Clear skies in the east, rain in the west, thunder here, wind there. It was only short of frost and snow. How could it not be strange?

Sky Tower, being the very center of Originheart City, drawing a line from here as coordinates, was like splitting day and night, one side with black clouds and wild winds of a sleepless night, the other as a psychedelic day with bright flames and Lightning Serpent dancing chaotically.

“What on earth is going on? Why has the celestial alternation become such a mess… Has it gone mad?” Frode watched in a daze, his voice slow, as if he were talking in his sleep.

Monroe stood in front of Frode, her eyes filled with worry: “Just a while ago, a rainbow streaked across the sky, and then everyone realized that the always misty sky had cleared. Everyone was so excited that nearly the whole town burst into the streets to celebrate. I was also surprised at that time, worried that the clear skies might be a rare incident, that it might not happen again, so I didn’t ask the city guards to stop the rejoicing people.”

Monroe was somewhat self-accusing when she said this: “However, afterwards, the trouble began. The weather suddenly turned chaotic, becoming like this. The changes came too abruptly, and many people couldn’t hide in time, even some were blown away by the strong wind, disappearing without a trace.”

This was the first major event Monroe faced after becoming the City Lord. Although it was a natural disaster, it happened during a public celebration, and she hadn’t managed it properly, leading to such consequences which made her feel both guilty and depressed.

“There’s no need for you to blame yourself. These capricious weather changes are not your fault.”

A deep and pleasant voice entered Monroe’s ears, and she turned around to see that the speaker was the legendary “Master of the New World.”

Monroe had noticed the presence of Angel and Sanders when she came in, but because of the major incident outside, she was preoccupied and hadn’t greeted them right away.

As Monroe was about to bow, Angel stopped her and then asked, “Who has been blown away? How is everyone else?”

Monroe didn’t dare to delay, and immediately responded: “With the assistance of the city guards, everyone has returned to their buildings. A child named Lado has been blown away; Sheriff Tullas and Sir Sabel are searching all over, but so far, there is no trace of him.”

Lado? Is it him?

Angel was surprised to hear this name.

He remembered this person; Labu and Lado were brothers, with Labu being the elder and Lado the younger. They seemed to have a good relationship with those two brats from the orphanage; Frode had mentioned that Labu was quite close to Shanni, and Lado was the first friend Adar made in the Wilderness of Dreams, naturally very intimate.

Angel had also seen these brothers before in the Marine Theater when he went to look for Jon.

Knowing the appearance of Lado, Angel, using God’s View, scanned Originheart City and its surroundings.

Soon, the search in Originheart City was over, and Lado was not found. Angel then extended his gaze beyond the city, and after a while of searching, finally found Lado, curled up on the ground in a plain about a mile away from Originheart City.

However, it seemed that Lado had fallen unconscious, lying motionless on the ground.

“Found him.” Angel’s voice drew everyone’s attention: “He’s outside the city, it seems like he’s passed out.”

Monroe didn’t know how Angel managed the search, but she was well aware that as the “Master of the New World,” he must have transcendent powers. Without fussing over the details, she immediately said, “I’ll notify the Sheriff right now, and have him go and pick up the person.”

Outside Originheart City is a forbidden area, and currently, only Tullas is permitted to leave. Thus, Monroe’s first thought was of Tullas.

Angel shook his head: “No need, I have already brought him here. You can go inform his brother Labu to come pick him up.”

Monroe did not understand how Angel intended to bring Lado over, and her mind was still a bit hazy, but she still went to the door and had one of her subordinates go send the message to Labu.

When Monroe returned to the patio, she was met with a gust of wild wind. Monroe was wearing a skirt today and the wind, coming at an inappropriate time, caused her skirt to flutter wildly. In order not to expose herself, she had no choice but to hold down the hem of her skirt with both hands, grinding her teeth in anticipation of the wind’s cessation.

When the wind stopped, Monroe was about to tidy up her hair that had been disheveled by the wind, but before she could do anything, she was frozen in place.

Not far off, a child with a red tie, carried by the wind, floated down onto the patio.

Monroe disregarded her appearance and rushed forward, bending down to see that it was indeed Lado, who had been swept away by the wind.

Blown away by the wind, and then returned by it.

Monroe couldn’t help but glance at Angel. Was this his way of “bringing him over”? Was it the power to control the wind?

While Monroe harbored suspicions, Frode had already begun examining Lado’s condition.

After all, the Wilderness of Dreams is an extension of the Dream Realm. The residents here rarely get injured because they are not physical entities, or to say, it’s quite difficult for them to sustain direct physical injuries. However, once injured, it must have reached the foundation of the Consciousness Spark.

Precisely because he saw that Lado was unconscious, Angel had directly taken him to the Sky Tower for Frode to check his condition.

Frode examined Lado carefully and concluded, “He shouldn’t be injured, probably just fainted from fright.”

With the assurance that Lado was only scared, Monroe also breathed a sigh of relief. However, although Lado’s issue was resolved, what should be done about the violent weather?

As Monroe worried, Frode also asked Angel, “My lord, is there a problem with the Celestial Alternation? Why has the weather here become so chaotic?”

Angel checked the Celestial Alternation through the Ability Tree and found nothing unusual.

But the scene of devastation before him was tangible evidence.

Angel furrowed his brow; he did have a theory in mind. If one considered the Wilderness of Dreams as a mischievous child that upon gaining the authority of Celestial Alternation, wanted to try out all the different climates, and since experimentation surely needed witnesses, and other areas were vast wildernesses, only Originheart City was populated and thus this scene ensued?

Although Angel felt this theory was farfetched, he indeed did not know why this situation had arisen.

However, for Angel, knowing the reason or not did not matter, as long as the problem could be resolved.

Angel said to City Lord Monroe, “This kind of weather may be due to being suppressed by the foggy atmosphere for too long, causing a temporary disorder. It will not last for long; it should clear up soon.”

As soon as he finished speaking, Monroe noticed that the chaotic weather in the sky gradually dissipated, and the dark clouds scattered to reveal a clear azure sky.

Originheart City, long troubled by the bizarre weather, had finally returned to normal.

“See, it is clearing up now.”

Monroe was well aware that things were not so simple, that clear skies don’t just manifest upon saying so; surely the lord before her had done something to change the celestial phenomena.

Monroe hesitated for a moment, then asked, “Is this clearing just for a moment? Will the weather revert to how it was before?”

Angel replied with a smile, “The changes in the celestial phenomena are inherently unpredictable. How could I know? Now that it has cleared up, why don’t you go and reassure the townsfolk? Such chaotic weather should not occur again in the future.”

The turbulence brought by the Celestial Alternation had finally subsided.

Lado’s brother Labu came seeking at this time. Seeing Lado lying on the ground, he panicked.

Frode and Labu seemed to be well acquainted, and he reassured with a smile, “Don’t worry, your brother just fainted from shock, there are no serious issues. Take him back first.”

Upon hearing Frode’s words, Labu sighed with relief, nodded at Frode, stepped forward to lovingly pick up Lado, preparing to leave.

But at this moment, Angel suddenly said, “Wait a moment.”

Angel stepped forward, examining Labu closely as if he had discovered something.

After a long moment, Angel waved his hand, “Alright, you can go back now.”

Angel’s behavior was odd, but Labu had seen Angel before and was aware of his status. He dared not act out or complain in Angel’s presence, gave a bow, and then pushed the door open, taking Lado and departing.
