Warlock Apprentice

Chapter 1589: Section 1590: Fatigue

Until the mechanical flying ship completely transformed into a dot of light and disappeared at the horizon, Angel turned his head back.

Suddenly, an old man with orange-red hair had approached him.

This old man was none other than “Magic Potion” Midora.

“A thousand years ago, Ivor thought that in the most critical moment, he entered the Reincarnation Casket alone and sent off Nail Granny, believing it was her redemption. In reality, this became the lingering obsession that Nail Granny couldn’t let go of. Nail Granny was actually a person who could easily love or hate, yet this obsession became the emotional knot she couldn’t untie over the years.”

“Obsession often drives people insane, knowing this well, yet making it hard for them to let go,” Midora said, then sighed deeply.

Midora patted Angel’s shoulder: “Enough about that, I’ll head back first. Oh, right, Yeliya has just learned new seasoning methods from Regina’s mushroom cooking class. She was still making soup when I left, it smelt particularly delicious… Do you want to try it?”

Angel shook his head, declining the offer.

Midora, shaking his head, muttered, “Seems like you’ve missed out,” then spun around and walked away.

Angel stayed quietly on the spot for a while before he prepared to leave.

He had just walked a few steps when he felt a gaze upon him. Following the direction of the gaze, he saw a person standing on the balcony outside the high tower of the Research and Development Institute.

The person wore a shimmering long dress of water-blue, leaning casually against the railing, displaying an elegant posture.

Angel flew over and landed on the balcony.

“Water Pattern Witch, aren’t you going back?” Angel asked curiously.

Farina: “Watching Nail Granny leave made me feel quite reflective. I wanted to enjoy the breeze a little longer before returning.”

“I won’t disturb you then,” Angel said and was about to leave, but then Farina called out to him: “Oh, right, I’ve already entered a preparatory seclusion these few days.”

Angel looked towards Farina, waiting for her to continue.

“Ever since last time, after experiencing the rhythm of your ocean, it inspired me a lot. I now have some ideas. I guess next, I’ll be entering seclusion, though of course, I will come out for the finals of the new star competition.” Farina paused: “You know, my apprentice is a bit stubborn, once I’m in seclusion I definitely won’t be able to look after her, who knows what she might do or where she might run off to.”

“I remember, last time Wizard Pat seemed to have needed Sharley for something. If it’s not too much trouble, could you help me look after her a bit?”

Earlier, Angel found out Sharley could sense Toby’s emotional state and briefly exchanged contact with her, thinking it might be useful in the future.

However, whether Sharley could genuinely aid Toby remained a moot question, and so Angel had not thought about contacting Sharley recently. But with the sudden request from the Water Pattern Witch, Angel felt somewhat conflicted.

Farina: “Last time Shaarley offended you, yet, you still let her experience the ocean rhythm. It’s indeed time she repaid that.”

After pondering for a moment, Angel nodded: “Alright, I expect to leave Sky Mechanical City after the finals of the new star competition. It’s a good opportunity to have Sharley confirm some matters during this period.”

Farina gave a bright smile: “I won’t inquire about the specific details. Anyway, if Wizard Pat finds a use for Sharley, you can freely instruct her.”

Farina’s mention of instructing freely, of course, wasn’t literally meant to be at will; she could allow Sharley to undergo some hardship, but at least, in her regard, wouldn’t let Sharley take on tasks that risked her life.

Sky Mechanical City, in the suburbs of the main city area.

Greya sat on the rooftop, watching a huge Gryphon circling overhead, her eyes flashing with satisfaction.

“When in the form of a Gryphon, its speed and power are already comparable to a Wizard Level, if it transformed into a Snake Bird, I suppose it would surpass a normal wizard,” Greya praised, then contently remarked with a hint of regret: “Unfortunately, given Toby’s current condition, he dares not transform into a Snake Bird.”

Once transformed into a Snake Bird, the suppressed Extreme Resentment Thoughts would inevitably be released, regaining control of Toby’s body. That would be troublesome.

Greya sighed internally, wondering when she could resolve these Extreme Resentment Thoughts.

As Greya was pondering, a dull thud suddenly reached her ears. She looked up from her daze, only to see the giant Gryphon Toby had transformed into suddenly plummet to the ground.

Greya panicked and immediately leapt down from the roof, rushing to where the Gryphon had fallen.

Toby fell right onto a flowerbed in the yard. The nearby Butler No.1, who had been diligently watering the plants, was also drawn over, anxiously pacing.

Greya approached the Gryphon’s head to check the situation, but before she could take action, she saw Toby’s form slowly shrink. In an instant, he went from the size of a building to a small bird the size of a palm.

Only a deep crater left by the impact remained on the ground, with Toby curled up at the center.

Greya held Toby in her palm, examining him closely. Before she could figure out the cause of Toby’s sudden unconsciousness, she heard a familiar snoring sound in her ears.

Greya was startled: “He fell asleep?!”

Greya recalled the recent days, she had been training Toby non-stop to strengthen his tenacity, hoping he could withstand when the Extreme Resentment Thoughts erupted.

He hadn’t rested for three consecutive days, and maintained the Gryphon form most of the time. Toby was probably really exhausted.

A flicker of guilt and pity crossed Greya’s eyes.

However, the next second, she opened her hand wide and slapped Toby hard on his body: “Wake up, don’t sleep!”

Toby had just drifted off, seeing the “young master” in his dream talking to him, seemingly advising him not to trust Greya or something… Before he could grasp the whole conversation, it felt like the world was shaking, and he groggily opened his eyes from the stupor.

The first thing Toby saw upon opening his eyes was a pink palm slightly smaller than that of an adult male.

Before Toby could understand the situation, the palm slapped his head.

The intense pain, coupled with dizzying confusion, brought Toby back to his senses. Just a second before another slap landed, he quickly called out.

Toby’s chirping successfully halted Greya’s “loving slap.”

Seeing Toby awake, Greya immediately switched from slapping to stroking, muttering, “You better not sleep. If you do, that guy might come to tempt you again… If you want to sleep, wait until Angel comes back and sleep with him.”

Greya knew clearly that even if the Extreme Resentment Thoughts inside Toby were suppressed, they were still trying to influence him. Now, the Extreme Resentment Thoughts transformed into the most concerning things in Toby’s dreams, tempting him whenever he fell asleep.

Strangely enough, whenever Angel accompanied Toby to sleep, his dreams wouldn’t be affected by the Extreme Resentment Thoughts.

Thus, seeing Toby fall asleep from exhaustion, although pitying him, Greya still woke him up before he fell into deep sleep.

“Angel just went out, I don’t know when he’ll be back, just wait a little longer.” Seeing Toby’s sleepy eyes, Greya had no choice but to increase the force of her “loving stroke.” Toby grimaced in pain before finally showing a satisfied expression.

As soon as Greya finished speaking, footsteps came from the doorway.

At the same time, Butler No.1, who initially felt sorry for the smashed flowerbed, also flew towards the doorway, respectfully calling out the newcomer: “Young Master Pat.”

Greya patted Toby’s head: “Alright, Angel is back. If you want to sleep, go find Angel later.”

After that, Greya prepared to explain the situation to Angel, but suddenly she frowned and looked behind Angel.

This time, Angel didn’t come back alone; he brought someone with him.

Following behind Angel, who was dressed in a black suit, was a woman with eyes full of resistance, yet her facial expression had to feign a joyous smile… a female Magician?
