Chapter 1126: Section 1127: The Strange Shadow Mist Area

The Shadow Mist Area noticeably differed from the light outside.

The light that reached inside was scarce, verging on non-existent, which formed a stark contrast with the outside world, a darkly lit region. Moreover, there seemed to be fleeting shadows within, though it was unclear what they were.

Angel listened intently but still couldn’t catch any sounds coming from the Shadow Mist Area, as if it was completely isolated from the outside world.

It made Angel think of Other-dimensional Space.

“Is it not usually like this here?” Angel turned to Canaan.

Canaan nodded and said, “In the ten years I’ve been mingling in Lassudral, this has never happened before. This is the first time… Maybe something unexpected has occurred inside?”

Canaan was well aware that Angel wouldn’t know the specifics, so his gaze slipped toward Fafnir. Before the Illusionary Realm took shape, Fafnir had been watching the show. Perhaps Fafnir had noticed something amiss with the darkly lit area surrounding the Void Tower long ago.

Angel also directed his gaze at Fafnir, but he didn’t quite grasp the significance of the issue; his curiosity was merely getting the better of him.

“The anomaly here appeared when Nitotipu went to rescue the skies,” Fafnir stated indifferently. “This darkly lit area, termed the Shadow Mist Area by nearby demons, began spreading from the Void Tower. As for the situation inside the Shadow Mist Area, I do not know. Many demons have entered, none have emerged…”

That being said, Fafnir had previously manipulated a wisp of wind to enter the Shadow Mist Area, but as soon as the wind entered, it lost connection immediately. It seemed as if some force shackled the Wind Element.

Fafnir hadn’t paid it much attention at the time, and she was quite clear that even if the wind had successfully entered the Shadow Mist Area, it definitely wouldn’t have been able to penetrate the Void Tower. Therefore, Fafnir subsequently focused her attention on the storm clouds and disregarded the Shadow Mist Area until now, when she once again turned her gaze toward it.

“Shall we go in for an investigation?” Angel asked.

Fafnir gave Angel a cold glance, “I don’t mind, as long as you won’t regret it.”

Me, regret it? Angel hadn’t understood what Fafnir meant at first, not until Fafnir manipulated the wisp of wind into the Shadow Mist Area…

After a while, a pitiful scream echoed from the courtyard of the Misty Cabin.

From the crossroads not far away, Kanter furrowed his brows and asked Samantha, “Did you hear something?”

Samantha nodded, “It sounded like a scream, but it’s no big deal. It would be more surprising to not hear screams in Lassudral.”

Kanter pondered with a nod, feeling the scream sounded as though it came from the direction of Scorched Earth, where the Misty Cabin was located… Just as Kanter was contemplating whether it was Angel who had screamed, a series of “tap tap tap” footsteps came from the main road shrouded in white smoke.

Kanter immediately shelved his wandering thoughts and, along with Samantha, went on alert as they looked towards the source of the noise.

——With a swirl of smoke, a woman with frosty hair and fiery eyes, cloaked in flames, approached through the mist.

At that moment, in the courtyard of the Misty Cabin, Angel was clutching his head, letting out a wrenching scream. His Spirit Sea roiled violently, agonizing pain constantly emanating from deep within his brain.

Only after a good while did the pain gradually stabilize. Despite his recovery, Angel still sat on the bench, panting heavily with exhaustion seeping through his body.

Once Angel caught his breath, his first words were, “That was a huge loss!” But his second sentence was, “Toby, where’s Toby?”

“The Icebound Hex is with me,” Canaan quickly said. Angel had begun to scream suddenly and shook uncontrollably, losing his grip on the Icebound Hex, so Canaan had taken over. Now, seeing that Angel seemed a bit better, he used a soft arm made of water to hand the Icebound Hex back to Angel.

After ensuring that Toby was safe within the Icebound Hex and that Binaqionse’s scales had not encountered any mishaps, Angel finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Seeing Angel’s forehead covered in beads of sweat, Canaan asked with some concern, “Owner, are you alright?”

“Much better than before,” Angel replied, panting for air as he began to assess the state of his Spirit Sea. The previous agony had been unbearable, like a sudden storm rising in the usually calm and clear Spirit Sea.

Fortunately, after checking, Angel confirmed there was nothing seriously wrong.

The scream had been caused by the crushing of a thread of his spiritual consciousness. Although the pain was intense, it was merely a minor spiritual power injury. Even without taking any potions, he would gradually recover with a few days of rest.

After ensuring everything was fine, Angel turned back to look at Fafnir.

The thread of wind that was destroyed previously contained not only Angel’s consciousness but also a thread of Fafnir’s. However, while Angel was in excruciating pain, Fafnir felt nothing at all. To her, the loss of a thread of consciousness was as insignificant as a mosquito bite.

“Lady Fafnir, you knew it was dangerous inside, right?” Now, Angel understood why Fafnir had earlier told him not to regret it.

“I’ve told you before that none of the demons who entered came out. You should have realized that. Do you think a thread of wind I control casually is stronger than those demons?”

Even so, what Angel really wanted to ask was, if she knew such a thing could happen, why didn’t she stop him before he entered the Shadow Mist Area…

“Shopkeeper, what on earth happened?” Canaan asked curiously. Before, the Illusionary Realm only went as far as their entry into the Shadow Mist Area, but afterwards, Angel screamed in agony, and the Illusionary Realm naturally stopped. Canaan was also unclear about what exactly had occurred.

Angel shook his head and sighed, “I don’t know what happened either. As soon as I entered, it was like being swept into a vortex, and then that strand of my spiritual consciousness was crushed.”

When Angel said this, he looked towards Fafnir. His vision couldn’t make out the situation, but perhaps Fafnir had made some discovery.

However, at this moment, Fafnir was deep in thought, frowning from time to time, and it took her a while to come back to her senses.

“Lady Fafnir, could it be that we were ambushed after entering?” Angel asked.

Fafnir shook her head, “It wasn’t an ambush. It must be some kind of defense mechanism of the Void Tower that was activated. However, there is indeed something strange about this Shadow Mist Area.”

“What’s strange about it?”

Fafnir was silent; she always had a peculiar illusion, faintly feeling a certain abnormal aura within the Shadow Mist Area, an aura that might come from an unspeakable being.

Without an answer from Fafnir, Angel pondered the next course of action, and Canaan felt it wasn’t his place to interject; the courtyard fell into a rare silence.

The silence was finally broken when Canaan suddenly stretched out his hand, pointing to the sky.

Following Canaan’s gesture, Angel looked up to find that the rain clouds of Nitotipu were slowly fading. In the end, the rain clouds completely vanished from sight.

Unfortunately, without Fafnir’s help, Angel could only observe the changes in the rain clouds from a distance on the ground, unable to see clearly what was happening inside them.

However, judging from the current situation, was Nitotipu retracting its rain clouds to give chase?

“Nitotipu is chasing after that ice floe… no, wait, Nitotipu has changed direction; it’s heading to the Void Tower!” Canaan could see the big picture, although it wasn’t as clear as the Illusionary Realm, but at least now Angel knew the situation in the sky.

Canaan’s voice also roused Fafnir.

She glanced at the direction in which Nitotipu was heading. Nitotipu looked calm on the surface, but there was a faint hint of panic in its eyes.

Fafnir thought to herself: Indeed, the situation with the Void Tower is not simple.

…

Above the ice floe, the Wizards also took notice of Nitotipu’s movements.

“Huh, it looks like Nitotipu is coming towards the core area too,” said Rivetta, who had been left on the ice floe because her Summoning Ritual backfired, temporarily robbing her of the ability to use Wind Element Spell Techniques, almost completely ruining her combat ability.

“Oh my God, this is a godsend opportunity. Now that Nitotipu isn’t surrounded by rain clouds, we could take this chance to annihilate it!” Mu Ying’s eyes lit up.

“Forget it, even without the rain clouds, Nitotipu is not so easily killed. Besides, the most important thing right now is to wipe out these annoying little Demons,” Rivetta gave Mu Ying a disapproving look, “Rather than dealing with Nitotipu, I think it might be easier to spend some time looking for those two Blood Cocoons.”

Nitotipu left alone, while Komodo and those two Blood Cocoons disappeared without a trace, undoubtedly hidden. It would be far easier to eliminate them now than to confront Nitotipu.

“There’s something off about Nitotipu’s expression. Its demeanor, it’s filled with panic,” at this point, ‘Pendulum of Balance’ Luci suddenly said.

Luci’s words made everyone wonder. Nitotipu had bypassed the ice floe and headed for the Void Tower, and its expression was also troubling—could it mean that something was wrong with the Void Tower?

The crowd unconsciously looked towards Monty.

Monty also looked puzzled; he had previously sensed Yadasai’s presence, but as soon Yadasai entered that dark light area, everything vanished. And shortly after that, Nitotipu abandoned its rain clouds and voluntarily returned to the Void Tower. This series of events seemed to be connected.

However, Monty was still unable to discern the connection.

“Luci, come and take a look at that dark light area.”

A moment later, with furrowed brows, Luci said, “The Wheel of Time’s calculations have once again hit a blank, but, this also means that the dark light area is very dangerous. If we continue to approach the Void Tower, we better avoid the area where the dark light dwells.”

The dark light area is very dangerous, not only for humans but for Demons as well.

With such an incident occurring at the core of the Void Tower, Monty was somewhat perplexed. Could it be that there really was an issue with the Void Tower?

“Send some Puppets to go into the dark light area and have a look.”
