Chapter 1110: Section 1111: How to Break the Game

Angel glanced sideways.

Was Fafnir blaming Issac?

“The glory of the Abyssal Dragon cannot be desecrated. Even if it is a traitor, its life must not end at the hands of lowly humans,” Fafnir said, looking at Issac with an added hint of combativeness in his eyes.

“Noble Lord Fafnir, even though Issac possesses a trace of Abyssal Dragon bloodline, it doesn’t necessarily mean that the humans killed the Dark Dragon. Perhaps, the Dark Dragon was fatally wounded by one of your own kind while escaping, and later died from the severe injuries. Issac might have just taken advantage of the situation. It’s still possible,” Angel cautiously chose his words, knowing that if Fafnir were to join the battle at this point, it could really throw everything into chaos.

Fafnir’s power was definitely a notch above that of the Great Demon of the Void Tower.

Despite his lack of fondness for the wizards of Frostmoon, this wasn’t merely an issue involving Frostmoon now. Sanders and Kanter were also involved… Huh, hadn’t he failed to spot Kanter on the floating ice before?

While Angel’s thoughts were spinning in his head, Fafnir spoke indifferently, “It’s possible what you say. But even if that’s true, lowly humans still must not possess the bloodline of an Abyssal Dragon.”

“Actually, there are powerful beings among humans as well…” Angel spoke hesitantly, knowing that the many Legendary Wizards in history had simply left the Southern Domain, and their disappearance didn’t mean they had fallen. Angel couldn’t believe that Fafnir would dare to call them ‘lowly humans’ if faced with those individuals.

“What do you mean by that?!” Fafnir glared at Angel with cold eyes as if cutting into him with a chill blade.

“I mean nothing in particular,” Angel immediately backed down. “I am just saying that for someone like Lord Fafnir, killing Issac would be an effortless task. However, if you do it now, you might be mistaken for an ally of the demons. The humans have not yet played all their trump cards, and if they do, even someone as powerful as you might get wounded by the sheer number of foes… Let’s say, multitudes of ants biting. Anyway, Lord, you have remembered his scent; you can always find an opportunity to kill him later.”

Fafnir fell into thought, sensing the reason in Angel’s words. Indeed, it wasn’t the right moment to act. She disliked humans but didn’t like demons either; there was no need to act rashly now.

Moreover, human combat strength should not be underestimated, like that chaotic Magic Energy Cannon and the strange puppetry. If those were used on her, Fafnir didn’t believe she would fare any better than the Great Demons. Not to mention, there were still the unknown trump cards.

With this in mind, Fafnir’s internal balance gradually shifted.

Now that both parties were at odds, indeed, there was no need to act immediately.

Seeing the change in Fafnir’s stance, Angel took the opportunity to further persuade her, and after much coaxing, he finally convinced Fafnir to temporarily forgo her intent to strike. Because of this, however, Angel’s original plan to control the winds and convey messages for the humans became difficult to suggest again.

“Shopkeeper, do the humans really still have trump cards?” Canaan asked at this point.

“I don’t know how many trump cards there are left, but there surely are some… after all, the Mysterious Objects have not yet made an appearance,” Angel said, his last words coming out softly and indistinctly, almost like a murmur.

The battle in the sky continued, and Angel dutifully kept a real-time record of the events.

However, whereas the humans had previously been dominating the demons, the tide had now turned; Komodo’s strength was immensely formidable, and with his solitary efforts, he was gradually reversing the disparity in power.

The main reason seemed to be that Komodo appeared unaffected by the advent of the Throne of Flames; the flames he wielded seemed even more potent.

Even simple fireballs, fire shields, and firewalls wielded by him were comparable to Official Spell Techniques.

And behind Komodo, the Minotaur and Urdixinos were rapidly recovering. Once they regained their strength, even if only half of it, they would inflict tremendous damage on the humans.

“He has been affected too,” Fafnir, who had been watching Komodo closely, suddenly spoke up.

“What?” Angel looked over in confusion.

“Even Odeclass’s Flame Mark is constrained, it’s impossible that Komodo, merely a fire-type Demon, would be unaffected.”

Angel had a moment of realization. So Fafnir was talking about Komodo… but considering the current situation, if Komodo had been affected, he couldn’t possibly be this powerful, could he? You must understand, with a casual fire shield just now, not only did he block Issac from getting close, but he also intercepted more than a dozen Official Wizards’ Spell Techniques.

Facing Angel’s confusion, Fafnir scoffed and said, “You think a fire-type Great Demon only has such simple control over fire?”

Canaan also added, “I’ve noticed that too, Komodo has never used Infernal Fire.”

Different fire-type Demons have their unique understanding of flames, which is why various bizarre flames exist. Just as Angel once needed the White Ash Fire Solvent made from Hellish Phantasmal Fire, which is the Fire Transmission Demon’s interpretation of flames.

Komodo also had his signature understanding of flames, the Infernal Fire.

According to Canaan, Komodo’s Infernal Fire could easily scorch mountains and boil seas, being a dark red color. But to this point, Komodo hadn’t used Infernal Fire at all, nor had he utilized any advanced flame techniques that were uniquely his.

From this, it seemed that Komodo was indeed affected.

However, his prowess in basic fire techniques was clearly enhanced. Maybe, as he said, with the arrival of the Fire Monarch, even simple fire abilities were infinitely amplified.

“The simpler and more basic it is, the fewer flaws there will be. I wonder if they can break through?” Angel’s gaze shifted toward the floating ice.

…

A hand of flame pierced through the chest of a black-robed wizard, dragging out the hot, pulsating heart.

Accompanied by a chilling and piercing laugh, the still-beating heart was crushed by Komodo and swallowed into his belly.

“I have said before, under the majesty of fire, no one can defeat me.” Komodo’s eyes were crazed as he looked up at the sky, where the flames danced, even more captivating than the most beautiful sunset.

Komodo’s arrogant laughter reached the floating ice, but it only made everyone’s expressions turn uglier.

“Kosaya is dead too.” The speaker was a witch in a black robe, identical to the one the wizard whose heart had been devoured by Komodo had worn: “Actually, I didn’t dislike him that much.”

After her indifferent words came a sorrowful wail. An emotion never noticed before, like a flood bursting through a gate, its hidden power only truly revealed once the gate is opened.

The other wizards might not have felt the witch’s heartache, but as they watched one companion after another being slain by Komodo, a sense of sorrow and loss began to spread.

“Lord Monty, thus far we have also been unable to break through its defenses. If this continues, not only will it affect morale, but once those two great demons recover, the consequences will be unimaginable.”

Monty sighed. Of all places, Aoluxiya had chosen the double-layered nexus of Demon City.

There were too many variables here, and to have reached such a state before the final battle was something he had not at all anticipated.

Facing the current situation, without playing one’s ace, it’s nothing but a pointless war of attrition. But if aces continue to be played, how to face Aoluxiya later? Moreover, the message from Angel earlier, regarding the lord about to Ascend the Throne, if he takes action against them, they must also have an ace to respond with.

“Lord Monty, let me do it.” At that moment, a slightly weak voice arose from the crowd.

Turning around, they saw a frail man slowly stepping forward. He too wore a Frostmoon wizard’s robe, but from the coppery color of the fabric, it was evident that he was probably just a regular member of the Guard Squad.

Even the captain of the Frostmoon Guard Squad—Maher, lay fallen aside. How could an ordinary wizard make a difference? This was what went through the minds of everyone present.

However, since he had spoken up, perhaps like Mu Ying before, he possessed some special item. With this thought, they parted to let him approach Monty.

Yet, halfway there, the man suddenly began to tremble violently.

Amidst the puzzled stares from the crowd, a world-shaking “vomit” sound erupted from the man’s throat. A great amount of fresh blood poured out from his mouth.

The bright red blood almost sprayed onto the other wizards nearby.

The sloshing sound was continual. Finally stopping the blood vomit, the man’s expression turned extremely pale, and his figure became even thinner than before, his entire being looking sickly, as though a gust of wind could knock him over.

Disgust was apparent on everyone’s faces; with such a frail body, was he really of the caliber to be an Official Wizard?

After vomiting blood, the man waved his hand, activating a Cleansing Spell attached to his coppery glove, cleaning the blood from the ground thoroughly. Then, he took out a bottle full of red liquid from a ring and poured it vigorously into his mouth. His action was fluid, as if he had rehearsed it countless times.

The liquid in the bottle emitted a thick stench of blood.

After drinking the unknown liquid, the man’s complexion turned slightly rosier.

“I have some physical disadvantages; it cannot be helped.” The man’s lips were still stained with bright red, which along with his pallid, sickly appearance, created a strange and unnerving sensation.

Although he explained it was due to his health, that only made others more skeptical: could such a person really stand against the great fire demon outside?

The man came before Monty and knelt on one knee: “Lord Monty, let me go.”

Monty stared at the man intently. Others couldn’t see his expression behind the mask, but there was a hint of concern in his eyes: “Are you sure you can withstand it?”

“I can.”

Monty pondered for a moment, then handed over a bottle of pale pink potion: “This is the Coagulation Potion prepared by ‘Magic Potion’ Midora. Take it.”

Monty did not stop him, and even provided him with a potion?

Did this mean that Monty believed he had the capability to stop the great demon outside?
