Chapter 1094: Section 1095 Umbrella

After the mysterious disappearance of the fire, the grey-black dense smoke completely obscured Lassudral.

Samantha and Kanter were not far from the southern suburbs, in a location closer to the center. This area had been continuously bombarded by meteorite fire, suffering the most damage; almost all the buildings had turned into ruins. It was for this reason that they chose to land here, firstly because it was close to the southern suburbs and secondly to avoid being discovered by demons.

But suddenly, Samantha felt a chilling sensation in her heart.

“Kanter, do you hear the sound of water dripping?” Samantha asked in a solemn tone, lowering her voice and turning to Kanter who was by her side.

Kanter, who was counting the treasures they had just obtained, turned back in confusion and said, “The sound of water dripping? Why would there be such a sound here? Could it be the sound of burning tar dripping?”

Samantha didn’t actually know what the sound was either, but ever since she heard the dripping sound, she had been restless. She always felt as if a pair of vicious eyes were watching them from the shadows.

The range of the smoke grew larger, and Samantha’s vigilance reached its peak.

Seeing Samantha’s serious demeanor, Kanter also became slightly more focused. Samantha didn’t seem to be acting. Could there really be something awry?

“I will merge with the night and have a look,” Kanter said gravely.

However, just as Kanter prepared to activate the Bloodline of Night,

Drip—

The sound of water dripping rang out again, and this time, not only did Samantha hear it, but Kanter did as well!

“It is indeed the sound of water dripping, but it seems to be right beside us?” Kanter turned his head, looking around. The misty smoke made the building ruins barely visible within the thick smoke, and the architecture of the Demon City appeared massive, looking like terrifying behemoths within the smog.

The wind rose and the smoke surged. Kanter and Samantha simultaneously sprang into action, standing back to back, their eyes scanning the surroundings for any threats.

Drip— Another drop of water fell, and this time both Kanter and Samantha captured the location of the water droplet because it landed right on the hem of Samantha’s dress.

The crystal-clear droplet rolled down the glazed-like fabric of her dress, merging into the ground covered in gunpowder and scorching heat.

Since the water droplet had fallen on Samantha’s dress, the source… They immediately raised their heads to look up at the sky.

“What is that?!” Samantha pointed at the dark, pressing fog above their heads.

“Clouds?” Kanter’s pupils shrank: “Rain clouds?”

Somehow, without them noticing, a layer of low clouds had drifted above their heads. The oppressive low clouds obscured the flame-lit sky, and combined with the surrounding thick smoke, it felt as though they were trapped in a dark world of smog.

Drip drip drip— This time, it wasn’t just a few droplets but a continuous string of rain, pouring down heavily.

The sound of the pouring rain seemed to cleanse the sullied city.

With the rain’s first intimate contact with the burning ground, accompanied by a hissing steam sound, a large amount of mist arose from under their feet. The already dark smoke, along with the water vapor, completely obscured their vision.

“Pitter patter.” A soft and ethereal female voice cut through the dense sound of falling rain.

Samantha and Kanter both looked up at the same time, trying to find the source of the voice, but the thick smoke obscured their view, and they saw nothing.

“Pitter patter.” The female voice came again, but this time it was not from the previous location; rather, it had moved to a completely different direction.

Samantha couldn’t capture the figure, but Kanter saw her. Although it was just a fleeting glimpse, he vaguely saw a woman with a white umbrella, disappearing into the rain and fog.

The patter of rain continued.

“I saw her, to the northeast,” Samantha whispered: “A woman with an umbrella.”

“To the southwest?” “Huh, she moved to the southeast?”

Within the thick smoke, the strange figure of the umbrella-carrying woman appeared everywhere; every time she showed herself, she left behind an image and then disappeared. Whispering “pitter patter,” as if imitating the sound of rain, or perhaps mocking those within it.

“Playing at mysteries!” Samantha snorted coldly; during her past experiences, she had encountered many ghosts that had taken over castles. The tricks played by these ghosts were just like the umbrella-carrying woman before them: ghostly figures with eerie sounds, scaring the castle owners so much that they never dared to set foot in it again.

But Samantha was clear that these ghosts, who liked to play tricks, were generally undead with weak individual strength. If they were indeed powerful enough to shake the Material Realm, they wouldn’t need to scare people; killing them directly would be much easier, wouldn’t it?

Samantha’s eyes flickered with cold light, and when she heard the “pitter patter” sound once again, she decisively stretched out her hand. A terrifying blast of energy cannoned through the rain curtain, aimed at the fleeting figure.

However, the strike did not hit its mark, and the umbrella-carrying woman’s figure vanished into the smoke once more.

“Using rainwater to purge scent markers, rain sounds to mask footsteps, smoke to sever line of sight… huh, it’s still too naive to use these tricks against a wizard,” Samantha, missing her mark, let a touch of mockery flash across her eyes. Her hands quietly glowed, turning into crystal clear colored glaze, and without hesitation she pressed her hands down toward the ground.

The black earth immediately turned into crystal clear colored glaze. And from Samantha’s location at the center, it spread out crazily and swiftly.

The Glazed Realm! As long as it was within the bounds of the Glazed Realm, Samantha could grasp all information.

If the woman with the umbrella wanted to create more confusion with ghostly shadows, it would be utterly impossible.

Confident in her thoughts, Samantha expanded the area within several hundred meters into the Glazed Realm. However, just as she did so, the “drip-drop” sound rang out again.

Moreover, it echoed right in front of them.

“How is that possible?!” Samantha exclaimed, lifting her head sharply.

Through the mist ahead, she saw a noblewoman dressed in lavish robes, holding a delicate white umbrella, standing on the glazed floor.

Her face was hidden by the umbrella, but the “drip-drop” sound seemed to be coming from within.

“Why can’t I sense her presence at all?” Shock flickered in Samantha’s eyes. The woman was right in front of her, yet the Glazed Realm offered no feedback whatsoever, as if there was nothing there, just an illusion… No, even an illusion should have some energy fluctuation!

There were only two possibilities for the woman with the umbrella, who stirred no ripples in the Glazed Realm.

It was either a silent, unnoticed projection.

Or, she wasn’t in this realm at all!

Just like the Spell Techniques of Wizards, many could enter different spaces. For example, the Body of Falsehood could transform into illusion, non-existent in this realm; similarly, the Art of Godly Stealth, currently the most potent stealth technique, involved escaping into a different space.

Samantha guessed that the other might have entered a different space.

But which space? That was hard to say. The Wizards’ Realm already had many such spaces, and the Abyss hosted countless more. Therefore, facing such an enemy, Samantha’s first reaction was, “Don’t pay attention to her, let’s leave here immediately.”

Dealing with entities from different spaces wasn’t easy, and there was no need to entangle with them, especially since the other party couldn’t attack the main world from their space.

With this in mind, Samantha and Kanter immediately split up, circling around the woman with the umbrella and running towards the distance.

As she passed the woman with the umbrella, Samantha stole a glance.

She still couldn’t see the full face, but she caught sight of the lower half, especially the lips, which were exquisitely beautiful.

Just as they passed the woman and were about to enter the thick smoke in the distance, a soft, alluring female voice came again: “Drip-drop——”

As the voice fell, Samantha’s Spiritual Sense stirred.

She had not yet disbanded the Glazed Realm, and suddenly she felt a terrible disturbance beneath it.

Samantha paused, then shouted, “No, there’s something underground, be careful!”

But her warning came too late. Two massive tentacles burst through the glazed ground and appeared behind them. With all her might, Samantha somersaulted, rapidly setting Glazed Coordinates in mid-air, stepping on them in mid-air and flipped to land a short distance away.

On the other side, although Kanter heard Samantha’s cries quite late, his skills in self-preservation were exceptional. With a thought, his distinct silhouette blurred as if smeared with water, transforming into a shadowy figure, as if entering a two-dimensional world from a three-dimensional one.

The shadow shifted sideways a few steps, evading the tentacle’s strike, before Kanter’s form solidified from shadow into reality.

Both displayed their abilities and safely dodged the sneak attack, but their expressions did not ease. That’s because the woman ahead had finally revealed her ghastly fangs from behind the cloud of suspicion.

The rain fell like curtains, with no intention of stopping. As the rain hit the ground, accompanied by a crisp pitter-patter, the earth continuously cracked open, and countless tentacles emerged from the ground.

These tentacles were all massive, with barbs and compound eyes, resembling the tentacles of some deep-sea leviathan.

And now, Samantha and Kanter were surrounded by countless tentacles.

They understood why the silhouette of the woman with the umbrella had been flickering around earlier, for she was constructing a cage woven from tentacles!

As the tentacles breached from the ground, the woman with the umbrella, accompanied by a string of laughter, slowly rose into the air.

Or rather… she was escorted by countless tentacles into mid-air, because beneath the woman’s skirt, there were no legs – instead, there were these horrifying tentacles.

It was not until then that Samantha and Kanter could truly see the identity of their adversary.

It was a great Demon.

Earlier, on the floating ice, they had clearly seen the Demon, covered in tentacles, leaving the Void Tower, with an unknown destination. The reason they had not detected her before was that she had hidden her tentacles underground.

Now, baring her teeth, she was fully revealing her form.

Huge and terrifying, filled with endless oppression.

“Drip-drop——” The eerie noise came out again, but this time, Samantha and Kanter realized that it wasn’t the great Demon speaking, but the umbrella in the Demon’s hand.

The umbrella handle opened its tooth-lined mouth, and the “drip-drop” sound of the soft female voice emanated from this mouth.
