Chapter 1088: Section 1089: Awakening Abilities

As soon as the voice fell, Pannas Charm Demon underwent a colossal transformation.

Her entire body seemed to inflate rapidly as if filled with air. Moreover, because the expansion was so swift, it appeared as if the space itself was distorting.

When she finally settled, her form was not inferior to that of a giant troll, but her appearance transformed from humanoid to something like a praying mantis, brimming with a sleek, streamlined sense of power. Behind her, antenna-like appendages that resembled spider legs slowly stretched out, casting shadows in the firelight like trails of light.

The most terrifying part was her head.

The little cherry mouth on her forehead instantly burst open into a horrific man-eating flower, with a gaping crimson maw lined with rings of sharp teeth. She had completely turned into an alien form, showing none of her prior charm.

Angel had seen Pannas’s awakening form before, but even now, it still sent a shiver down his spine, causing cold sweat to break out on his back.

Across from Pannas, the surprise in Sinafa’s eyes was indescribable.

She sensed that the spiritual power of the succubus in front of her actually remained at a steady state, neither increasing nor decreasing. However, from the metallic sheen of the scales and the terrifying pressure of the flesh, it was clear that the physical strength of the succubus had increased manyfold!

Sinafa had the illusion that she was not facing a succubus at all, but an Abyssal Dragon renowned for its powerful flesh.

Although she had never actually faced an Abyssal Dragon head-on, the aura of vitality emanating from the succubus’s current form made even Sinafa, a Bloodline Wizard, feel an overwhelming sense of dread deep in her heart.

“Heeheeheehee, indeed, this form is the most delightful… but after awakening, I crave flesh even more… I want to devour you and assimilate with me…” the succubus murmured with a dual voice, emitting simultaneously from both mouths, filled with a sense of eeriness.

Boom—

Sinafa had launched an attack even before Pannas had fully transformed. Still employing the blade of ice and fire, wielding dual swords capable of piercing through anything, she charged at the self-indulgent succubus.

This time, due to the succubus’s immense size, it was impossible for her to dodge the attack by making small positional shifts.

In fact, she did not move at all, letting the terrifying attack land on her scales. It seemed she also wanted to take this opportunity to test the defense of her own scales.

The “sizzling” screech was harsh, accompanied by sparks flying.

The succubus withstood the blow with her streamlined body, only a faint bloodstain appeared, but it did not inflict any further damage.

Sinafa’s pupils contracted, and she swiftly spread her wings, retreating quickly.

The succubus did not give chase but continued to speak to herself, “My mother, lost to the Sin and Desire Interface, used to tell me to let the food move before eating. When the blood flows freely, it tastes so much better…”

With a stern and serious expression, Sinafa ignored the succubus’s taunts and continued her onslaught.

She was not sure why the succubus had transformed into this state, but since it had not reached the Great Demon stage, why should she be afraid? Even if it was a Great Demon, Sinafa was not without any fighting chance.

Sinafa did not hesitate and launched a second attack.

This time, the succubus finally moved.

Her speed, compared to when she was humanoid, had not diminished at all, in fact, it had become even faster! Whether it was the energy strikes or the material realm being pried apart by the dual blades, the succubus could mostly dodge them, and even when she took them head-on, she managed to dissipate most of the force. Clearly, she had intentionally withstood Sinafa’s previous attack.

On the other hand, Sinafa was somewhat strained to withstand the succubus’s fierce onslaught.

The terrifying gap between their strength and physical bodies forced Sinafa to exert more effort to control her reaction speed. The succubus could withstand her attacks, but she could not.

Even a slight hit from the succubus would be unimaginable.

The more Sinafa wished to avoid it, the more likely it was to happen. Just as she thought this, she noticed a tendril flickering with faint white light striking from behind.

“Damn! Can’t dodge it!” A complex emotion flashed through Sinafa’s eyes, realizing she had been careless, so focused on avoiding the succubus’s attacks that she had forgotten the many “tails of light” behind the peculiar succubus.

Caught off guard, Sinafa was still hit by the “tail of light”.

She had no choice but to withstand it!

Clamping her teeth tightly, Sinafa forced herself to twist her body midair, changing the angle of the tail’s impact from piercing her heart to lashing at her waist and abdomen.

A massive force spread from her belly.

Despite having lessened the force and possessing passive defenses, her internal organs felt as if they were being simultaneously crushed.

Agonizing pain spread immediately.

Sinafa’s eyes blazed red as she rapidly muttered an unknown chant. Swirling black patterns resembling tadpoles appeared at the wounded area on her abdomen. This was a secret art to suppress her pain sensation temporarily.

Without retreating, Sinafa, gritting her teeth, turned her body again to dodge another “tail of light” and continued to barrage the succubus with a mad flurry of strikes.

Light and shadow surged in the clash.

Angel, watching from the sidelines, was dazzled by the exchange. Such a high-level duel was rare to witness, and even if one had the fortune to encounter it, they likely wouldn’t dare to appreciate it up close.

However, unlike Fafnir, who was indifferent to the outcome of the battle and watched for amusement, Angel was constantly tense. His sympathies, naturally, lay with Sinafa.

Although he did not have a very good overall impression of the Frostmoon Alliance, after all, as fellow humans, and considering that Sinafa had a very close relationship with Flora, it could be said that Sinafa was quite amicable towards the lineage of Illusion Demon Island. Naturally, Angel’s internal compass leaned towards her, hoping she would emerge victorious.

Angel watched intensely. Both sides exchanged blows, and both seemed to be injured. It was difficult to determine the victor for the moment.

“Logically speaking, Sinafa should be stronger by a notch. How come the fight is still at a stalemate? Could she lose?” Angel furrowed his brows. Right now, it appeared that neither side showed signs of victory, but Angel knew very well that fighting in the Abyss, with home advantage on the side of the Demon, a prolonged battle of attrition was very disadvantageous for humans.

As Angel grew anxious, the battle on the field intensified.

Terrifying booming sounds continued incessantly, the movements of the Succubus caused huge noises, the earth trembled, and flames were tossed aside.

Sinafa darted among the flying rocks; her movements were as if time had stopped. Her footsteps fell on the rocks suspended in the air without stirring a speck of dust.

Although Sinafa moved agilely without any hindrances, her heart was becoming more and more agitated.

This damn thing wasn’t any Succubus, it was completely a meat tank!

Sinafa had never been so exhausted from close-quarter combat before, not even during sparring sessions with Sir Monty had she experienced such hardship.

After a series of dodges, Sinafa gritted her teeth and decided to launch another fierce assault.

Her wings unfolded, and the realm of darkness and white light burst forth simultaneously.

The realm of darkness covered the earth while the white light illuminated the world. Forces that seemed contradictory fused together in a strange manner.

The entire world was reversing.

It was as if time and space were being stripped away, everything turning into a pattern of black and white.

A look of daze appeared in the eyes of the Succubus, and Sinafa thought to herself: The opportunity has come!

She was well aware of how powerful the Succubus’s physical defenses were, so instead of choosing to slice through flesh, she flew up high without hesitation, joining her dual blades into one. Dark mist enveloped while white light emerged abruptly, and she fiercely chopped down at the mouth on the forehead of the Succubus.

Hiss-slash—

Caught off guard, the head of the Succubus, starting from the huge mouth that burst open on its forehead, was cleaved into two halves.

A flash of surprise crossed Sinafa’s eyes, and with a burst of energy, she applied all her strength to push down the blade.

“Ahh—” Sinafa roared, and as the sound of bones clashing with the blade rang out, the Succubus standing over ten meters tall was split in two straight down the middle from the top of its head!

Blood spurted out like a fountain!

Sinafa leapt up, landing firmly on the ground. She kept panting, but her eyes twinkled with joy.

Although the process was arduous, as long as the end result was good, it was all worth it.

After catching her breath, Sinafa suddenly stumbled, and the whole person collapsed on the ground. Her brows tightly furrowed as sweat drenched her skin, and blood mixed with fragments of her viscera flowed from the corner of her mouth… The pain and injuries she had forcefully suppressed before, now that she relaxed ever so slightly, came back with a vengeance, and because of the secret technique she used to suppress them, the feedback pain was even worse than before.

Sinafa twisted on the ground non-stop, her severe pain causing her to moan miserably.

Angel watched the scene, and while he breathed a sigh of relief, he also became worried about Sinafa’s condition.

Sinafa now seemed to have no defenses, and the only consolation was that the Succubus had been slain by hand, so there should be no other Demons nearby.

As Angel was thinking this, his eyes caught sight of something behind Sinafa, and his pupils shrank suddenly!

This is bad!

In the midst of severe pain, Sinafa also heard the rustling noise.

She guessed it must be the “hidden piece” from earlier. Sinafa was naturally aware of this possibility and, despite the unbearable pain, she, as a True Knowledge Wizard who had fought her way up through sheer strength, still forced herself to muster her spirit.

“There’s another tough battle to fight, now is not the time to rest,” Sinafa thought, as she stood up again.

However, when Sinafa got up, she realized that the rustling sounds were not from the “hidden piece” in the sea of fire but rather—

“It really hurts,” groaned the Pannas Charm Demon, her body splitting in two but slowly fusing back together, complaining in a charming voice: “It’s the first time I’ve felt such pain~”

“But, I quite like the feeling of pain, it makes my whole body shiver! Indeed, my choice was not wrong… hee hee hee…”

With another coquettish laugh, the Succubus swayed, its flesh and blood moved as if with its own consciousness, wriggling, blending, and… resurrecting!

“How is this possible?!” Sinafa stared in horror at the Succubus in front of her. She had already killed it, so why had it resurrected?

Facing the shocked Sinafa, the Succubus laughed seductively and proudly, “Does it seem unbelievable? I can tell you, my Awakening Ability—”

“Is immortality~”
