Chapter 50: The Last Batch ( 3 )

The General and the soldiers were risking their lives to protect the border, ensuring the entire Great Yan Kingdom peace.

Thinking about it from this point of view, Xue Ya’er finally thought that it’s indeed not a big problem for them to accept some meat to nourish their bodies.

Seeing her expression relax, Yao Zhi said, ”Madam, it is not early anymore, and I still have to return to report to my father. Should we settle the account now?”

Xue Ya’er nodded and glanced at Chun Hua. Fifteen minutes later, box after box was placed inside the front hall. Fortunately, the hall was large and could accommodate so many wooden boxes.

As before, Yao Zhi went to inspect the goods. When she was done, Steward Han returned with a small box. After placing the box on the table, he cupped his fists and said, ”Madam, these are the gold ingots you requested.”

Xue Ya’er nodded at him and turned to Yao Zhi. ”Young Master Lei, the fabric costs around 2,000 taels of silver, and the rest will be exchanged for gold ingots.”

Yao Zhi went to open the box and saw a total of five pieces of five-tael gold ingots. She turned to Xue Ya’er and asked, ”Madam, the amount of these gold ingots is not right. You gave me an extra five taels of gold.”

Seeing that she was honest, Xue Ya’er’s impression of her improved. She smiled and replied, ”Young Master Lei, that five taels of gold...consider it as me treating you to a meal.”

Since she had said so, Yao Zhi did not refuse and accepted it. She cupped her fists and said, ”Then, thank you, Madam.”

Xue Ya’er waved her hand and smiled. ”It should be me thanking you.” After a moment of pause, she asked, ”Young Master Lei, I wonder when you will send the next batch?”

Hearing this, Yao Zhi said with a sigh, ”Madam, I am afraid this will be the last time I send you grains this year. My family estate just finished harvesting the farm, which is why we have a lot of grains for sale. The next batch might have to wait until next year.”

When she heard this, Xue Ya’er only nodded and did not insist. She also owned an estate, so she understood that they could only harvest grains once a year.

”Since that is the case, then I will wait for Young Master Lei’s visit next year.”

Yao Zhi could not guarantee that she would be able to come again next year, so she did not reply and cupped her fists before she left.

The wooden boxes were loaded into the carts by the servants, while the box of gold was carried by her personally. As they left the General’s mansion, she stored the gold ingots in her system storage when no one was paying attention.

After they arrived at the warehouse, Luo Bo and his brothers moved the boxes inside and placed them in the main building. When they finished moving everything, he sent several of his brothers to return the carts to Steward Han.

While the escort team cooked dinner, Yao Zhi went to the warehouse and stored everything in her system storage. Afterward, she bought 250 bags of millet, costing her 2,500 points.

She piled them in the corner of the main building and covered them with dry hay.

The wage of the bodyguard for four days was two taels of silver per person. So, she took out 50 pieces of silver ingots from her system storage, each ingot equal to one tael of silver.

Since she planned to leave that night, she took out the old keys she received from the broker from her system storage and replaced the padlocks with them. After storing the padlocks in her system storage, she finally walked out.

She handed a wooden box to Luo Bo and said, ”Master Luo, these are the wages for everyone. Please check if the amount is correct.”

Luo Bo accepted the box and opened the lid. The moment he saw the glistening silver ingots, his eyes lit up. He counted the ingots for a moment before saying, ”Young master, the amount is correct.”

Yao Zhi nodded and said, ”Master Luo, I promised to give everyone five dan of grain upon the completion of this mission. Before you leave tonight, remember to take the grains from the right building. I placed them in the corner and covered them with dry hay.”

After hearing this, Luo Bo no longer doubts why no one had noticed so many grains were left inside the warehouse. He cupped his fists and said, ”Thank you, Young Master Lei.”

Yao Zhi smiled and handed him a bunch of keys while saying, ”I have to leave now or I will be late to meet with my people. Master Luo, please help me return these keys to the broker agency and find Manager Zhen.”

Hearing this, Luo Bo asked, ”Young Master, if you give me these keys, then how do you get your items stored in the main building?”

”You don’t have to worry about it, my people will handle everything. Just remember to lock the gate when you leave later,” Yao Zhi replied casually.

Luo Bo was still worried, but since they had finished the mission, he didn’t say anything and nodded. ”Okay.”

Before leaving, Yao Zhi suddenly added, ”By the way, I rented this warehouse for three months but only used it for several days. If you can get back my money, you may take it as a reward.”

The moment she finished her words, Yao Zhi left in large strides. Luo Bo was stunned by her sudden words, but thinking that she said she was late for an appointment, he did not chase after her.

After leaving the warehouse, Yao Zhi walked back to her village. Since the moonlight was bright, she did not need a lantern. When she finally reached her backyard, it was already midnight.
