Wen Xishu was puzzled:

”Why is this place called the Balance Forbidden Land, is there some kind of story behind it?”

Devon shook his head:

”Ah... this is troublesome. Actually, we don’t know what’s going on here either. We only know that this place has various disasters, and we need to leave here, otherwise we will die sooner or later.”

”But leaving here is impossible by ourselves.”

”We must rely on a commander to leave.”

”All of this sounds absurd, but this is the guidance we have. And you, my friend, our hero, you are that commander.”

Elsa stood up:

”Commander, lead us out... We don’t want to stay here and wait to die!”

The socially anxious Cavendish also said:

”I... I’ll contribute my strength from the back, shooting down those leaders. Please lead us through that monster-infested area.”

Wen Xishu sensed their genuine desire to leave.

”But isn’t the tavern safe? You can even drink happily there.”

Colonel Devon shook his head:

”But we can only stay there for a limited time, Commander. We are from the area about to be affected by the Balance Curse. If we return there, we’re just waiting to die.”

”Moreover, the guidance tells us that once we muster the courage to accept recruiting by the tavern, then...”

”We face only two outcomes. First, reaching the sanctuary under your leadership.”

”Second, dying during the breakout process. No matter which, to me, it’s better than staying put and waiting to die. If I am to die, at least... I can kill a few more monsters.”

This character... is indeed quite endearing.

Wen Xishu saw no signs of deception; these people genuinely wish to leave here and go to a place without curses.

”What exactly is the Balance Curse?”

Colonel Devon still shook his head:

”I’m sorry... we don’t know either, we only know the name of the disaster is the Balance Curse, but why it’s named so, we are unclear.”

”But I can tell you this: once the curse descends, we will die... no chance of survival, and no possibility of resistance.”

Absolute death?

Wen Xishu grew more puzzled.

With a ranged fighter, a melee fighter, a healer, and himself as an all-rounded commander, the obstacles ahead shouldn’t be too hard.

Yet, he faintly felt, if this game were just like that, it would be too cliché.

Leading a few people to break through is more suitable for about the tenth level of Deceit Tower, but now it’s the fiftieth level.

Just as Wen Xishu was confused, he received guidance.

[Current team size limit (4 people), all members have appeared, the next tavern round will unlock new members, but the first level needs to be cleared. Start the challenge for the first level now?]

[Note: If not challenged continuously, the Balance Curse will appear inside the tavern.]

A new UI appeared, and Wen Xishu noticed a curse countdown appeared above everyone’s heads.

A skull-engraved hourglass appeared above them. The countdown: 3600 seconds.

In other words, if departure doesn’t occur within an hour, the curse will trigger.

The three also said:

”Commander, let’s charge once!”

Colonel Devon said:

”I will give all my strength, Commander. Let us leave here together and search for the sanctuary!”

Wen Xishu had a feeling there would be variables, but with the current clues being too few, he could only say:

”Let’s go, we’re setting out.”

In any case, by the second tavern round, the game’s nuances should be clear, Wen Xishu thought, then started the challenge for the first level.

He felt strongly that the balance and Libra are hugely connected, and it seems Scorpio has also set its sights on this Land of Obsession.
