When the others heard what Brother Black said, they realised that it really was so. Back then, even if they did not kill the seriously injured passengers and only stood by without helping, things would not have developed to this stage. Only by saving the lives of those three people could they touch upon and discover this deep-seated plotline.

Sheyan nodded.

“Correct, my friend. That’s why I insisted on camping here for now. If we leave, the Cullen family might not be able to find us.” His words were very slow, but his tone was very firm.

“What business do you have with them? What makes you think that those vampires who won’t suck human blood would come looking for you? It’s not like you’re a beautiful young virgin. You even have a large amount of A-virus in your blood. It must taste pretty disgusting to them,” Zi could not help doubting Sheyan.

Sheyan smiled. “They may not be interested in me, but they’re definitely interested in something I’m carrying!”

Zi was confused initially, but when she saw the weapon ‘Verdict’ hanging on Sheyan’s waist, she came to a sudden understanding.

Admittedly, this powerful holy weapon would indeed put an astonishing amount of pressure on creatures of darkness because its nature meant that it could easily cause great harm to them. Even if the vampires did not care about Sheyan, it was absolutely impossible for them to ignore ‘Verdict’!

If an American B2 stealth bomber had suddenly crashed inside China’s territory, China would surely find it at all costs. Similarly, even if Sheyan was buried deep in the mudslide, the vampires would surely dig him out regardless of how much time it would take.

“As for why we should talk to them,” Sheyan muttered in a low voice, “There’s an idea I’d like to try. I got this idea from a certain notification we received before entering this world.”

“This world is the world of a disaster movie. No progress will be kept in this world. Even those who have experienced and passed the world will have to start again from the beginning.”

“What does this mean? Before this, I interpreted it as: after completing this world, all interpersonal relationships, contacts and so on are not preserved. But now, it seems to be something more profound.”

“No progress will be kept in this world!”

“It means that, if I’ve experienced the Twilight World before and had either allied with the Cullen vampires or went against them, it would have no effect in this world. From the moment I enter this world, their relationship with me is neutral. Everything starts anew, like a blank sheet of paper. Of course, that’s only limited to this world!”

The others were still confused at what significance this held, but Old Charlie had already understood the meaning behind Sheyan’s unfinished words.

“I see. If we really choose the path of salvation, then we’ll need to help as many people survive the 2012 apocalypse as we can. In the face of extreme natural disasters, an individual’s power is so small that it’s almost negligible…. The strength of our Party Ace is simply too weak. If we want to save more people, if we want to create a real miracle, there’s only one way: we have to unite all the forces that can be united in this world, so that salvation becomes self-preservation. This….is the only way we can succeed!!”

Sheyan closed his eyes and took a few deep breaths. The thoughts he was arranging in his mind had been systematically spoken out by Old Charlie in an orderly way. He nodded his head appreciatively.

“Yes, that’s what I mean. Can you prepare some information about the end of the world for me?”

“As you wish, master,” Old Charlie replied with a slight bow.

After pausing for a while, Sheyan continued, “We’ve seen Twilight characters in this world, so why can’t there be key characters from other movies in this 2012 world that’s about to be destroyed? Since there’s a Forks Town, why can’t there be Blade? Spiderman? Elm Street?….”

Sheyan’s inference shocked everyone, but when they thought about it carefully, besides being amazed, they also felt that it was reasonable!

They fell into a long silence. A long time afterwards, Zi said with some difficulty, “Your thoughts jump so fast. But you can’t possibly be planning to work with sick psychopaths like Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees, right?”

(TL: Of ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’ and ‘Friday the 13th’ fame, respectively. There’s also a ‘Freddy vs. Jason’ movie. )

“In theory, why not? Despite their cruelty and homicidal tendencies, would it do them any good to have the world cleansed? Freddy Krueger should have a daughter, right? Does he want him and his family to die?” Sheyan answered very seriously.

“Besides, does he wish for a world with no dreams to enter? You should know that Freddy’s source of strength is people’s fear and recollections of him. If no one remembers him and no one fears him, then he has no power! If the 2012 apocalypse really destroyed mankind so severely that only tens of thousands of people are left in this world, Freddy would become totally useless! I’m actually pretty confident of persuading him, if he does exist in this world.”

“But how the hell can he help? Our aim is to save people. What can he do but kill, destroy and make a mess of everything?” protested Zi in a loud voice. She still found it hard to accept.

Sheyan looked at her with a smile.

“My dear Zi, this world is a party warfare world. Our enemies aren’t limited to just floods, volcanoes and earthquakes, but also all the hostile parties in this world! If Freddy cooperates with us, I’m even willing to make his power…soar to an unprecedented height!”

“You might think I have no morals. Okay then, tell me, how many people did Freddy Krueger kill? Does the figure reach a hundred? It doesn’t. Rather than the killing, it’s the torment that gave him pleasure. If I indulge him, I may cause a hundred people to die painfully, but if it’s in exchange for the survival of a thousand or ten thousand people, then is my action just or evil?”

Zi spoke no further. At that moment, a clear but somewhat weak voice came from the distance.

“I’m Edward Cullen. I hope we can talk.”

Sheyan had recovered more than half of his HP by now. He immediately stood up and walked out of the camp. Edward Cullen, a handsome and charming vampire, was perching upside down on the branch of an Alaskan red pine thirty meters away like an owl. He was genuinely shocked when he saw Sheyan.

“You’re actually still alive!”

Sheyan smiled.

“I never do things I’m not confident in, Mr. Cullen. Actually, even if you don’t come to me, I’ll come to you, because I have an important message for you and your family. My time is very, very tight, so I hope you can ask your family to come here to listen to a few words of mine.”

Edward Cullen stared hesitantly at Sheyan for a few minutes. He then raised his head to the sky and let out a shrill cry which sounded like the call of an owl at night. The sound gathered in one line and spread far away.

Before long, every member of the Cullen family arrived one after another. They watched Sheyan and the party with vigilance, respect and some doubts.

Sheyan took a step forward, gave a slight bow to the head of the family, Carlisle Cullen, and said in neither a servile nor overbearing manner, “I can’t tell you where I got news about you from, nor can I explain our origins to you. Your first reaction to what I’m about to say next may be laughter and ridicule, but time will soon prove that I’m right.”

Sheyan’s heavy, slow tone gave all the Cullen family members a heavy psychological pressure. When he lifted his chin at Old Charlie, Old Charlie took out a pocket-sized 3D projector and displayed with it a series of video materials:

***

India.

Megaden Copper Mine.

Location: Mysore/Deccan Plateau/Chicoma Carol/Darwin Town

Telephone: XXXXXX

Fax: XXXXXX

Signs: Dr. Adrian Helmsley, an associate geologist at the U.S. Office of the Science and Technology, visited his friend Dr. Satnam Tsurutani, who told him that the temperature of the Earth’s surface was experiencing an abnormal spike. The temperature in the mine had reached 49 degrees, and the mines around the world are experiencing a rise in temperature as well.

Reason: Neutrinos from a huge solar flare are heating Earth’s core.

The Cullen family still did not think it was anything serious, but Old Charlie soon played another video.

The United States.

Yellowstone National Park.

Location: Northwest Wyoming

Telephone: XXXXXX

Fax: XXXXXX

Signs: The lakes in the park have turned into scorched sandy ground. The park is now under the secret control of the government. Large amount of ground fissures have appeared all across California.

Reason: A Mayan prophecy, the Book of Changes and the Bible have all predicted that the Earth would suffer a grand catastrophe in the year 2012 due to the alignment of the solar system planets with the sun in a straight line, a phenomenon which occurs once every 640,000 years. The neutrinos from the sun’s solar flare will melt Earth from the inside, causing Earth’s crust to drift freely.
