The Sinful Young Master

Chapter 309: The New Tekkora

The city gates were imposing, standing at twenty feet in height, strongly built with enough thickness. Guards were stationed at the gates and checked everyone who was coming inside the city; their identity had to be verified before they came in.

The old man showed his identity, and of the two people, they were listed as travellers.

The guard glanced at them for a brief moment and then nodded.

The wagon made its way into the streets of the city.

The city has a big square centre where lots of people were present.

The square looked buzzing with chatter and people. Previously it used to be a small town square; now it has turned into something much larger and vibrant.

The wagon stopped at the centre, and those two people stepped out of the wagon.

Now standing in the square, they observed the surroundings.

The old man with the wagon left them there, and he departed.

Their faces were covered with masks, so it was unable to figure out who they were.

”Mira, don’t run.” A voice rang loud in the crowd. They looked towards the little girl being chased by a woman, Jeanne.

”We have to go to the diner faster, Mommy. Big sister Nora will be coming soon,” said the little girl, Mira. The one Jolthar saved in the mines. She was now looking healthy and excited too.

”We will, we will. Stop running, or you will fall.”

Her mother Jeanne worked in the diner Nora set up.

Jeanne caught her daughter’s hand and walked towards the diner.

Mira asked her mother, ”Mommy, when will big sister Nora bring Jolthar? It had been many days since I saw him.”

Jeanne sighed and said, ”She will bring him soon. Don’t ask her about Lord Jolthar and how many times I told you not to call him by name.”

Mira had asked her an n number of times already about Jolthar. She would pester Nora about him all the time. She hadn’t forgotten about him. The little one held her mother’s hand and walked cheerfully alongside her.

Right at the centre’s left was a big three-storey building with the name ’Nora’s Diner’ on it. It had been running successfully, and Nora was already counting profits.

Those two people saw Mira and Jeanne go into the diner.

The city, a part of the barony, saw its full glory now. In the past months, the development had been rapid, and the construction of the forge was finished.

Even the guild had set up its branch in the city, making adventurers flow in.

Barony of Tekkora finished its construction and was now a full-fledged city of trade and commerce. Even with the absence of Jolthar, Cleora had finished the work.

The people were fully satisfied with Cleora and Jolthar, and they wondered where Jolthar was and were eagerly waiting for his return.

They knew he was the one who made all this possible; Cleora made sure of that.

Those two people talked about something which wasn’t clear in the market crowd, and after nodding to each other, they parted ways.

One of them made his way towards the north of the city; to be precise, he moved in the direction of northeast, the armoury of the barony.

The other one made his way towards the city gates.

-

The barony of Tekkora had transformed beyond recognition. Where once modest stone buildings dotted rolling hills, now a sprawling trade city stretched across the valley floor. Smokestacks rose from the great forge, their steady streams of grey smoke testament to the industry that had bloomed in mere months.

The absence of Jolthar hung heavy over the transformed landscape, yet Baroness Cleora had pressed forward with unwavering determination.

Streets bustled with merchants and craftsmen. The clang of hammers on anvils echoed from workshops.

Wagon wheels rumbled over cobblestones as traders brought goods from distant corners of the empire. What had once been a quiet barony now pulsed with the lifeblood of commerce and creation.

Inside the mansion, which was located in the north of the barony that overlooked this bustling metropolis, Baroness Cleora sat with her children in the mahogany-panelled study.

Ledgers spread across the oak table, their pages filled with trade agreements and production schedules.

Nora, now seventeen and sharp-eyed like her mother, traced her finger along columns of numbers.

Roblan, in his twenties and bearing the responsible weight of his position, reviewed contracts with practised efficiency.

The three of them worked very hard throughoutthe entire time, even sleep-deprived from time to time, and were now beginning to see the fruits of their labour as the barony’s economy flourished under their careful management.

And there was one more person who had been appointed by Cleora’s father in helping them. A man of trade and a well-known merchant named Raelyn. He was out right now, taking care of the merchant union which was set up in the city recently.

And the head of maidservants, the nanny of the house, Miranda. She was standing by the table, overseeing the papers of the mansion. She was the one who took care of the mansion after all.

She was a middle-aged lady, about 5’8’’ with a strong physique for her age. She looked flawless even though she was in her middle ages, and it was because of her dwarf ancestry. They age very slowly compared to humans.

Mirand poured tea for the three of them. They all got up in the early morning and with Nora, roblan still being their night dress. Cleora told them they should come ready when she called for them, all dressed up but two of failed to do so everytime for their meeting.

”The eastern trade routes are exceeding projections,” Nora observed, her voice carrying the slight drowsiness, and she yawned and continued, ”The steel from our forge commands premium prices in the capital.”

Cleora clicked her tongue, ignoring her daughter’s lack of manners.

She nodded, though her expression remained thoughtful. ”The forge runs at capacity now. Jolthar’s designs have proven invaluable, even in his absence.” She paused, her fingers drumming against the leather-bound ledger. ”I wonder what he would think of what we’ve built here.”
