The Quest for Immortality

Deep within the mysterious fog, all movements vanished.

Sishen also lost its ”soul” as it slowly kneeled on the ground.

Everyone was so tense that they almost forgot to breathe.

”Is it over?”

”How did it turn out?”

”Did the Shaman... win?”

Everyone stared at the valley, unblinking.

The surroundings were so silent that a pin drop could be heard.

They waited quietly like this.

Unknown how much time passed, a fluctuation came from the thick fog, and amidst the turbulent mist, a figure emerged.

The figure was lean and thin, not tall.

But at this moment, in everyone’s eyes, this solitary figure walking through the evil mist was terrifyingly powerful.

Soon, Holy Patterns appeared on the ground.

The evil mist retreated to both sides.

Mo Hua slowly walked out from the evil mist, his face pale, but his gaze calm, expression tranquil, and his robes not stained with a trace of dust.

Under the gaze of the masses, Mo Hua slowly raised his head, looked at their eager eyes, and slowly spoke:

”The Divine Lord is immortal, grants me great power, the heretics are already vanquished.”

”The deceased tribesmen can rest in peace...”

His words carried compassion, gentle and soft, yet they bore a resolute belief.

Everyone’s hearts felt infused with a power of devotion, and they all half-kneeled on the ground, devoutly chanting:

”Honorable Shaman, wise and mighty!”

”The Divine Lord is immortal, bless our Great Wilderness!”

Everyone shouted in unison, their voices echoing through the mountains, moving hearts.

Dan Zhu and others bowed to Mo Hua.

Even the Golden Core members of the Shugubu couldn’t help but bow to Mo Hua, showing their respect.

From then on, Mo Hua’s prestige grew, the name of the Shaman ingrained in people’s hearts.

Only Lugu stood in place, his expression shaken.

...

After the turmoil subsided, Mo Hua arranged some post-crisis matters.

The entrance to the valley of the Sishen Tribe was ordered by Mo Hua to be sealed with huge stones, inscribed with formations, forbidding anyone from entering.

Though the Evil God died and was devoured, the remaining telekinesis could still become a ”catalyst” leading people’s hearts astray.

Once ordinary cultivators come into contact, the consequences are unimaginable.

Moreover, hidden conspiracies remain in the Sishen Tribe, which Mo Hua plans to investigate when the chance arises.

In the future, if the opportunity arises, the entire Sishen Tribe will be searched again to see if there are other discoveries.

But now with evil thoughts lingering and the plague spreading, conditions do not permit it, so Mo Hua temporarily put it aside.

Besides, there’s the issue of burial.

The deceased tribesmen of the Sishen Tribe cannot be buried in the earth; they must be burned outright.

In the customs of most tribes in the Barbaric Wilderness, those guilty or lowly Barbarian Slaves are ”cremated” to purify their sins with raging fire.

Cremation is seen as ”desecration.”

But these people of the Sishen Tribe can only be ”cremated.”

These people all cannibalized at some point and were ”tainted” by the Evil God, dying and rebirthing.

Even now, with the Evil God slain and the root supposedly eliminated.

But if these bodies were truly buried, Mo Hua was unsure if other issues might arise later.

So they could only burn them.

To this, others, especially the fellow members of the Shugubu, while feeling it improper, had no other solution.

Moreover, Mo Hua declared that these people had received ”redemption” from the Divine Lord.

As long as they were cremated, the Divine Lord would forgive them.

As Mo Hua, the Shaman said this, no one opposed it anymore.

The ”zombie-like” tribesmen of the Sishen Tribe were gathered, cremated, and a large monument was erected to commemorate them.

Yet when it was time to cremate Sishen, problems arose.

First, during his lifetime, Sishen was a Late-stage Golden Core Cultivator with a formidable corporeal body, and ordinary Barbaric Fire couldn’t burn it.

Even if it could burn, it would need to burn for at least seven times seven days and nights to be effective.

Second, Lugu outright refused to let his elder brother undergo ”cremation.”

He cared not for the other members of the Sishen Tribe, but Sishen was absolutely prohibited.

”This is my elder brother, my General in the Shugubu, cremating his body is an insult, and I will never allow it!”

Lugu’s stance was very strong.

Chi Feng attempted to persuade Lugu but failed.

The others dared not speak.

Lugu was the Late-stage Golden Core General, the one with the greatest power, highest realm, and strongest strength among them, and no one dared to truly defy him.

But after the previous incident of Sishen’s ”death and rebirth,” no one dared to bury Sishen’s body back in the ground.

This matter could only be resolved by Mo Hua.

Mo Hua then went to Lugu’s tent.

By this time, it was already deep into the night, and Lugu had placed his elder brother Sishen’s body by his side, guarding it through the night, preventing anyone from approaching.

First, fearing Sishen’s body would undergo some unexpected change again.

Second, not allowing anyone, especially those from the Danque Tribe following Mo Hua’s command, to forcibly cremate his elder brother.

When Mo Hua entered the tent under Chi Feng’s guard.

Lugu’s cold gaze immediately focused on Mo Hua, and he calmly said: ”Does the Shaman still intend to burn my elder brother’s body?”

Since Mo Hua paved the way with Holy Patterns in broad daylight, going alone into the evil mist, borrowing the power of the ”Divine Lord” to eliminate heretics, Lugu’s attitude toward Mo Hua had grown much more respectful.

Despite not understanding whether Mo Hua was a Divine Envoy or a Demon Monster.

Reverence for the ”strong” is a Barbarian Tribes tradition.

Lugu had already begun to ”view as equals,” even holding a trace of the ”awestruck admiration” that his self-respect would not allow, toward Mo Hua.
