The Quest for Immortality

Two days later, it will be the Array Discussion Conference, also the final event of the Dao Discussion Conference.

During these two days, Elder Master Xun didn’t assign Formation homework to Mo Hua, but instead allowed him to relax appropriately.

Because after such a long period of Formation training, what needed to be learned has been learned.

There’s no need to be overly tense in these couple of days.

With some spare time, Mo Hua went to the Gu Family for meals.

It wasn’t that he went proactively, but Aunt Wan specifically invited him.

Mo Hua has been busy these days and hasn’t visited the Gu Family, and Wenren Wan has been somewhat concerned.

Now knowing he has some spare time, she specially prepared a table of spiritual meals to supplement Mo Hua, lest he gets too thin from hunger.

Mo Hua, unable to refuse the gracious offer, went and had a hearty meal.

After dinner, Yu Er went to the courtyard to play and catch butterflies.

Wenren Wan then handed an invitation to Mo Hua.

Mo Hua was taken aback and asked, ”Aunt Wan, this is...?”

”This is the invitation for the Array Discussion Conference.” Wenren Wan said.

”Observation?”

”Yes,” Wenren Wan said kindly, ”I know you like Formation; you’ll surely go to watch the Array Discussion Conference. But during such grand events, the crowd will be immense. Ordinary disciples can only stand far away, watching the commotion; you can’t see much otherwise.”

”With this invitation, it’s different. This is specially issued by the Four Great Sects to the major families, inviting us to observe, with seats quite close to the front, allowing you to watch the Dao competition clearly...”

Mo Hua was surprised in his heart and then said, ”Isn’t this invitation quite precious?”

Wenren Wan nodded, ”It’s quite rare. Unless you are a Sect Leader or Elder from a fourth or fifth-grade great family, ordinary cultivators can’t get one.”

She received this invitation because she is both the legitimate daughter of the Wenren Family and the next Sect Leader Dao companion of the Shangguan Family.

Mo Hua then said, ”There is only one invitation; if I’m given it, Aunt Wan, won’t you go to watch?”

Wenren Wan replied, ”I’m not going.”

Mo Hua was curious.

Wenren Wan said, ”If I went, I would sit with people from the Shangguan Family. Those people are pretentious, which I don’t like, and it might cause trouble for Yu Er.”

Mo Hua nodded.

Wenren Wan, fearing Mo Hua might mind, said, ”You’re different; you don’t need to mind them. Just take the invitation, find a seat, drink tea, eat fruits, and watch. No need to engage with the Shangguan Family.” ȐàꞐöＢЁ𝘚

”They may be fussy about my manners, but you are a guest, with Elder Master Xun backing you up. The Shangguan Family, full of elders, will surely not have the audacity to trouble you.”

”The Array Discussion Conference happens once every three years; it’s a rare opportunity. You should be able to gain significant insights if you can watch up close...”

Wenren Wan was very considerate of Mo Hua.

Mo Hua was grateful in his heart.

Previously, he would have accepted this invitation, but now the situation is a bit special...

Mo Hua declined, saying, ”Aunt Wan, I can’t accept this invitation.”

Wenren Wan was somewhat surprised, ”Why?”

Mo Hua, being candid and fond of Formation, made her think he would happily accept the invitation, but surprisingly he refused.

After some hesitation, Mo Hua finally confessed, ”Aunt Wan, I might... also need to participate in the Array Discussion Conference...”

Elder Master Xun advised him not to tell outsiders about this.

But Mo Hua thought, Aunt Wan treats him so well, she doesn’t really count as an ”outsider.”

Moreover, the day after tomorrow is the Conference, speaking now wouldn’t matter much.

Wenren Wan was stunned for a while, finally realizing Mo Hua meant to ”participate” in the Array Discussion Conference, not just watch.

Wenren Wan was understandably shocked, ”You’re only at the Foundation Building Middle Stage, with insufficient years since entry; can you participate?”

Mo Hua said, ”I don’t know either; Elder Master Xun asked me to go.”

He himself was unclear if this was following regulations.

Anyway, since Elder Master Xun asked him to go, he would go.

Elder Master Xun’s arrangements would certainly not be wrong.

”Elder Master Xun...”

Wenren Wan was taken aback, then thought it was no wonder, but at the same time felt a sense of gratefulness.

Elder Master Xun indeed treasured Mo Hua dearly.

The Dao Discussion Conference, being a significant competition, can manage to make an exception for Mo Hua of Foundation Building Middle Stage to participate.

Presumably, to let Mo Hua gain experience in advance, adapt to such grand occasions...

This also implies Elder Master Xun holds high hopes for Mo Hua’s future.

Wenren Wan felt very comforted.

After pondering for a while, she decided, ”Since you have to compete too, I will come to watch the day after tomorrow.”

Mo Hua, while wanting Aunt Wan to watch too, couldn’t help but ask, ”Aunt Wan, didn’t you dislike those people from the Shangguan Family?”

Wenren Wan snorted lightly, ”How can they compare with you? I’m going to watch your competition; it’s nothing to do with them.”

Mo Hua smiled.

Wenren Wan patted Mo Hua’s shoulder and said with some delight:

”Anyway, at your age, being able to participate in the Dao Discussion Conference, regardless of the outcome, is already remarkable.”

”Your parents will certainly be proud of you; it’s just a pity they are far away in Li State and can’t be by your side.”

”If you don’t mind, Yu Er and I will count as half of your family; since you are participating in the Array Discussion Conference, I will come to watch no matter what...”

Mo Hua felt warm in his heart and smiled, ”Thank you, Aunt Wan.”

Seeing Mo Hua’s clear smile, Wenren Wan felt comforted and involuntarily smiled too.

...

After staying leisurely at the Gu Family for a while, Mo Hua bid farewell to return to the Sect.

Aunt Wan personally sent him to the door and offered encouraging words, urging Mo Hua not to worry and to do well in the competition, striving for glory for the Sect.

Mo Hua smiled and answered, ”Yes.”

Afterward, Mo Hua took the Gu Family’s carriage, leaving Qingzhou City, heading towards Taixu Gate. Upon passing through Tai Xu City, as it was still early, he got off the carriage and, as usual, went to the Formation Pavilion to browse around, purchasing some rare and unusual Formation Books and Formation Diagrams to broaden his Formation knowledge.
