The Quest for Immortality

The Taixu Sect Master was troubled in his mind, and after finishing speaking, he turned his head to see Elder Master Xun’s calm expression, without any special reaction, and couldn’t help but wonder:

”Ancestor, you...”

Elder Master Xun raised his gaze, glanced lightly at the Taixu Sect Master, and said: ”Leave a spot for me.”

”A spot?” Taixu Sect Master was slightly stunned.

”Yes, a spot in the Array Competition.” Elder Master Xun said, then looked at the Taixu Sect Master again and said gently:

”Rest assured, do your best, even if our Taixu Gate truly faces adverse circumstances and gradually falls behind, it is my plan as an ancestor that is inadequate, don’t blame yourself...”

The Taixu Sect Master smiled bitterly.

The ancestor’s comfort made him feel grateful, but pushing this responsibility now seemed meaningless.

Yet in his heart, he was equally puzzled.

According to reasoning, the ancestor’s affairs should not be inquired, but the situation was special now, he couldn’t help but ask:

”What do you want this spot for?”

Elder Master Xun just said calmly:

”You’ll know when the time comes...”

Then Elder Master Xun said nothing more, and peacefully started drinking tea.

The Taixu Sect Master’s brows became even tighter.

...

Thereafter, the atmosphere in the Taixu Gate suddenly became tense.

It seemed everyone knew that this Sword Discussion Conference was of extraordinary significance. .

Murong Caiyun and Shangguan Xu, the late-stage Foundation Establishment disciples of this generation, to prepare for the upcoming Sword Discussion Conference, were hunting monsters every day, honing tactics, and cultivating mutual understanding.

Mo Hua, this generation’s mid-stage Foundation Establishment disciple, didn’t need to attend the conference, hence wasn’t so busy, but the atmosphere among the disciples was still somewhat heavy.

Especially for those with good families and deep backgrounds who learned inside information from their clans, their hearts were anxious about Taixu Gate’s situation.

The sect’s interests were closely related to these disciples.

They didn’t want, after enduring much hardship to enter the ”Eight Great Gates,”

Only to end up as ordinary ”Qian Learning Hundred Gates” disciples upon graduation.

But they were only at mid-stage Foundation Establishment, although anxious, they couldn’t help much.

Mo Hua was still practicing Formation.

However, the Sword Discussion Conference would start first, and its rankings weighted higher than other Daoist conferences.

After considering a bit, Mo Hua went to Elder Master Xun and asked:

”Gentleman, may I participate in the Sword Discussion Conference?”

He thought he could also lend a hand.

Elder Master Xun was startled, then immediately shook his head and said:

”You’re only at mid-stage Foundation Establishment, what are you rushing into...”

But before finishing the sentence, Elder Master Xun suddenly remembered, Mo Hua’s mid-stage Foundation Establishment seemed not in the ordinary sense.

Especially thinking of Mo Hua’s ”record”:

In the Taoist Court’s records, there’s a series of ”ferocious” Sin Cultivators captured, and cruelly acting Evil Cultivators.

Also includes the ”Fire Buddha” type Demons who killed mercilessly.

Not to mention, in Tongxian City, previously dispatched people discovered almost unbelievable ”great accomplishments” of setting up large formations and killing Big Demons...

Elder Master Xun looked at Mo Hua, who was clean and well-behaved, difficult to connect these matters with him.

However, Tongxian City’s ”rumors” were hard to say, but the Taoist Court’s records wouldn’t be false.

Most of these matters might truly be facts.

Elder Master Xun pondered for a moment, still shaking his head, said: ”The Sword Discussion Conference is not that simple.”

Mo Hua was puzzled.

Elder Master Xun looked at Mo Hua and explained patiently:

”Your spiritual root is poor, the grade of cultivation technique is limited, and the number of Spiritual Power Cycles practiced is naturally less than others, thus your Spiritual Power is weaker.”

”Additionally, your cultivation is only mid-phase Foundation Establishment; at least in terms of Spiritual Power, compared to those late-phase Foundation Establishment or even peak Foundation Establishment geniuses in Qianxue, you are far less.”

”And the Sword Discussion Conference requires many matches. Your meager Spiritual Power can’t withstand the consumption.”

”Once your Spiritual Power is exhausted, no matter how many skills you have, you can’t display them, and ultimately you’ll only be able to concede.”

Elder Master Xun said these words with a slightly stern gaze:

”I know, you can mix so well outside, dealing with those Sin Cultivators, Evil Cultivators, and Demon Cultivators, certainly holding many trump cards.”

”But you must be clear, the open and the hidden are different.”

”Working outside is hidden, your methods kept concealed, may have magical effects.”

”But the Sword Discussion Conference is open, under the public eye, with so many people watching, once you reveal a trump card, you’ll be noticed by everyone.”

”Others will prepare beforehand, turn to calculate against you.”

”Moreover, the Sword Discussion Conference requires many matches, no matter how many trump cards you have, revealing one in each match, sooner or later you’ll be stripped clean.”

”By the end, if all your methods are seen through, how can you fight?”

Mo Hua’s expression was stern, but simultaneously puzzled, he asked: ”Gentleman, don’t other sects’ heavenly prides have trump cards too? Aren’t they afraid of exposure?”

”They’re not the same as you...” Elder Master Xun said, ”Their trump cards, ultimately, are nothing but cultivation realms, superior Daoist skills...”

”This is hard strength; even if exposed, it’s not easy to defeat them head-on.”

”But you’re different, are your trump cards shown to others? Even dared to show me...”

Elder Master Xun looked quietly at Mo Hua.

Mo Hua felt somewhat embarrassed and lowered his head.

Elder Master Xun didn’t pursue further but continued: ”Thus, although you have many methods, but the fundamental cultivation is weak, very afraid of being targeted. To achieve victory, you must hide your trump cards well. Unless absolutely necessary, don’t use them.”

”This Sword Discussion Conference, if you rashly participate, despite possibly helping a bit, the significance isn’t large, even very likely, a loss outweighs the gain...”
