The Quest for Immortality

At the year-end Sect examination, Mo Hua performed consistently, with one A and six Cs, nothing surprising or disappointing.

The six ’Cs’ were because he could only get a C.

But that one ’A’ was different.

He got the ’A’ because the Formation assessment by the Taixu Gate could only grade up to ’A’.

This ’A’ was of high value, truly a ”single grace that masks a hundred flaws”, but unfortunately, it couldn’t be reflected on the paper.

Mo Hua felt regretful.

After the examination, as per usual, Mo Hua wrote a letter home.

The letter was long-winded, saying many things, but mostly about how peaceful the Sect was, how harmonious the same sect members were, how kind the teachers were, and how the people near the Qianxue State Boundary were good-hearted, reassuring words for his parents.

He didn’t mention any dangerous matters, to avoid worrying his parents.

After writing it, Mo Hua sent the letter out through the post station of the Taixu Gate. .

But to his utmost surprise, at the post station, he actually received a letter.

It was sent by his parents.

To be far from home in a foreign land, a single letter from home is worth ten thousand gold.

Mo Hua was overjoyed and immediately returned to the Disciple’s Residence to read the letter.

The handwriting was neat, written by his mother.

But Mo Hua guessed that while his mother was writing, his father Mo Shan was probably watching by her side, quietly adding a few lines now and then.

The content of the letter was nothing special, only saying that everything at home was well and telling Mo Hua not to worry.

Mo Hua wasn’t even sure which year’s reply this was.

However, Mo Hua was already content.

The Nine State region was vast, and the distance between Li State and Qian State was too great, with mountains high and waters long, seemingly endless.

The Low Grade State Realm is restricted by cultivation, making communication very slow.

A letter from the Second Grade Big Black Mountain State Boundary of Li State to the Qianxue State Boundary only took a few years, probably due to him being a disciple of the Taixu Gate, using their message channels. ṛАꞐồᛒƐș

Otherwise, it might not have been received for decades.

Mo Hua carefully read the letter again and stored it away with care, then sat in the Disciple’s Residence, suddenly feeling a bit forlorn.

Memories gradually resurfaced.

When he was younger, in the streets and lanes of Tongxian City, bits and pieces of those days slowly came to mind.

These memories, like candied hawthorn, were sweet, yet also a bit sour.

It seemed as if a long time had passed, yet as if it were just yesterday.

He could still vaguely hear the voices of those little friends calling his name.

Calling him to practice cultivation at the Sect, to see the lantern festival, to go shopping, to see the little girls...

Among them, the voices of Da’hu and the other two were the most.

After all, they grew up together, spending the most time playing together.

”I wonder how Da’hu and the others are doing now in Tongxian City...”

Mo Hua silently pondered in his heart.

”No... ”

Mo Hua was startled for a moment before he suddenly remembered that Da’hu and the other two seemed not to be in Tongxian City anymore.

Frowning, he recollected what Dazhu had told him.

The Qian Family had collapsed, the Big Demon had been killed, and through the Tao Cultivation industry, Tongxian City had become much more stable and prosperous.

There were more cultivators coming and going for business, stopping by, and seeking refuge...

And some very important ’big figures’ would occasionally pass through Tongxian City.

On that day, coincidentally, a towering Sect Elder passed through Tongxian City and accidentally saw Da’hu and the others. Seeing that, although their backgrounds were poor, their determination was strong and they had good Body Refinement constitutions, he took them as disciples and brought them to the Sect for cultivation...

The name of the Sect was said to be...

Great Wilderness Sect.

Thinking of this, Mo Hua’s gaze slightly sharpened.

The matter of the heavenly secret seems coincidental, yet contains cause and effect.

It wouldn’t be for no reason that he suddenly thought of these things.

Could it be... something happened to Da’hu and the others?

Mo Hua furrowed his brow.

Moreover, the Great Wilderness Sect...

Now, Mo Hua was extremely sensitive to the words ”Great Wilderness”, always feeling that as long as these words were involved, more or less, there was some unclear connection with the Evil God.

And the Great Wilderness Sect was located south of Li State, adjacent to the Barbaric Wilderness.

Calculating this, it was indeed close to the lair of the Great Wilderness Evil God.

But the mountains were high and the roads were far; there was nothing he could do about it, not even getting any information.

Mo Hua sighed, having no choice but to press this matter into the depths of his heart...

Afterwards, it was the New Year.

Mo Hua spent this New Year very busily, almost like usual, either practicing swordplay or learning formations.

However, Elder Master Xun did give him a day off, letting him go to the Gu Family for a New Year’s Eve dinner.

As Elder Master Xun said, ”The Gu Family is a refreshing stream, rare and valuable, and it’s good to have interactions normally...”

And so, Mo Hua went to visit the Gu Family.

He had a big feast, and incidentally, ”couldn’t refuse in earnest” and had to ”reluctantly” accept many small festive gifts before returning fully loaded.

The next day, he returned to the Taixu Gate, prepared to focus on learning swordplay and formations.

But unexpectedly, during the grand festival, someone specifically came to give him gifts.

And the person who delivered the gifts was someone he never would have expected.

Wang Chen from the Gui Water Sect.

Mo Hua almost forgot about this person.

But Wang Chen couldn’t forget, as he was brought by Hao Xuan to Mo Hua’s presence, where he presented the prepared gifts one by one and then expressed his immense gratitude:

”Thank you, Junior Brother, for enlightening me, otherwise my life would be over.”

Mo Hua was slightly taken aback, ”What did I enlighten you about?”

Wang Chen smiled bitterly, ”It was about the Rouge Boat. If it weren’t for Junior Brother you leading Hao Xuan and the others to beat me up, forcing me to leak information and make amends, I wouldn’t have been able to get off that thieving ship of the Gui Water Sect...”
