The Martial Unity

Chapter 3115: Giants and Dwarves

CHOMP CHOMP CHOMP!

CRACK CRACK CRACK!

RUMBLE

The eyes of the giants glinted with hunger and ecstasy as they consumed all manner of fauna and flora in a single bite in their giant mouths, basking in the bright light of the morning Sun. Pure pleasure and delight lit up in their eyes as they enjoyed the exotic delicacies of the Panama Continent in peace, entirely abandoned by the Panamic Alliance.

Similar to the therianthropes, they too were not as much of a threat as the evolutionaries or the tekvores that had much greater malice for human civilization and were much more immediate threats. They simply indulged in a hunter-gatherer lifestyle to fulfill their immense hunger and nutritional needs.

The only issue was that those needs were almost unsustainable.

They had deforested ten thousand acres of land in a month, consuming every last ounce of flora and fauna that they could find.

With each meal, they grew slightly larger.

Slightly stronger.

And slightly hungrier.

Their energy consumption rose, causing them to eat more, which caused them to grow bigger, making their energy consumption grow even more. It was a vicious cycle that caused their energy needs to grow larger and larger, which in turn made them grow larger and larger. And yet, because it increased their power to the extent that it did, it was also a powerful predictor of survival.

This was especially the case when not fulfilling their hunger didnʼt lead to death, but activated a process of autophagy where their own flesh would be used as fuel to sustain their own hunger needs. This meant that a giant could go years without consuming any food and would be able to survive at the cost of continuously growing smaller and smaller as autophagy caused their bodies to consume themselves to survive.

Evolutionarily, they were absolute winners, which explained why they had grown in population and had rendered extinct most life on the Kiriket Continent.

That left only one other source of food.

Other continents.

The giants of the Samarkha Continent constantly targeted the other five continents, especially the Continents of Kiriket and Genora, which were populated mostly by the therianthropes and the elves, which meant that the continents were filled with fauna and flora, which catered to the Paths of the two respective races.

Despite possessing the intelligence common to the other five races, they were consumed by more primal urges of hunger and sexual arousal, which caused them to spend much of their time eating and fornicating.

They were also the only groups of true world settlers on the Panama Continent who reacted to the Beast Excursion with delight and ecstasy.

”RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

RUMBLE!!!!!

”ROOOAAARRR!!!”

”RAAAWWWRRR!!!”

”KRRRIIIEEEKKK!!!”

The world shook as a stampede of beasts and monsters surged towards the giants.

The giants grew ecstatic with delight and welcomed the Beast Excursion with great hunger, grabbing as many of them as they could into their mouths even as the beasts and monsters unleashed an onslaught upon them.

What had been a deadly apocalypse and nightmare to human civilization for seventeen long years was merely a buffet that had offered itself to them.

The dwarves, however, didnʼt react to the Beast Excursion as well as the giants did. With nearly a hundred mining operations established in one month, they had spread themselves thin to divide the forces of the Panamic Continent, causing them to experience a much greater share of the Beast Excursion than they otherwise would have.

RUMBLE!!!!!

”Gah!”

”By Hephaestusʼ Beard! Where did all these beasts come from?!”

”They are destroying our mining equipment!”

”Retreat! Retreat!”

”We cannot mine with these beasts and monsters stampeding all across our equipment!”

”Back to the ships!”

The little dwarves, despite their diminutive and weak physical stature, automatically donned pocket dimensional jetpacks while their energy shields just barely managed to hold off the powerful tides of beasts.

”These creatures may be numerous, but theyʼre also weak!” one dwarf realized. ”With our ship-juggernauts, we ought to be able to wipe them out!”

”Activate the juggernaut-ships!”

RUMBLE!!!

The world shook as each ship began its long and truly impressive transformation as countless components, many the size of nuts and bolts, flew about with the transforming structure as the ships turned into amorphous technological heaps, before finally taking their forms as impressive juggernaut mechs piloted by the dwarves.

Each juggernaut was so powerful that it took multiple Martial Sages to match their outputs.

A beast tide that didnʼt have any quasi-Transcendent beasts and monsters in its ranks stood no chance against such technological marvels.

And yet, it was not the beast tides on land that they needed to worry about.

It was the ones within the depths of the water.

Within the depths of the water on which the ship-juggernauts were standing.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!!

Gigantic tentacles emerged from within the depths of the water, wrapping around one of the juggernauts, catching the dwarf pilot entirely off guard.

BLUB

In the blink of an eye, the tentacles dragged the juggernaut into the depths of the ocean.

Before the other dwarf pilots could even react, a myriad of horrifying monsters emerged from within the depths of the ocean, comprising hydras, scyllas, bloops, and cetuses.

BOOOM BOOOM BOOOM BOOOM BOOOM!!!!!!

They charged into the juggernauts in a myriad of collisions and attacks, dragging them underwater before the juggernauts could mobilize effectively.

RUMBLE!!!!!

The Great Nam Ocean shook as the mighty juggernauts unleashed their powerful weapons systems in a desperate attempt to destroy the quasi-Transcendent beasts and monsters. And even though they were stronger on a nominal basis than the average quasi-Transcendent beast, that power advantage largely evaporated when in the domain of water.

RUMBLE…

The little dwarves watched with horror as the cataclysmic seismic radiation slowed down.

Before eventually going silent.

The battle had ended.

The juggernauts did not emerge from within the ocean.

”No…” one dwarf shakily murmured, turning around to witness the beast tide clawing and attacking at the powerful energy shield that they had erected around their mining operations.

”How much time until the energy shields run out of power?” one dwarf asked with a shaky tone.

”…Less than an hour.”
