THE GOD EATER

After thinking for a while, they said, ”How about this? You can call upon me for help or information three times. But in exchange, you will owe me a favor for each time I help you.”

”Do you understand me?” they asked sternly. ”Each time I help you, I can ask you to do anything for me. If you understand and accept my terms, swear the oath now.”

Loki wanted to argue and negotiate better conditions for the help, but something about the way the guardian was looking at him made him realize that it was a bad idea.

He couldn’t see the guardian’s eyes or their face, but he could still perceive the frown emanating from their presence, so he said, ”I swear on my Dao Heart to do anything asked of me by the guardian each time they help me.”

”Good,” the guardian nodded and said in satisfaction.

”In exchange for you behaving so well, I will tell you this. The way forward is to become the king of this domain. Everything around being a demigod is tied to this goal.

”There are a lot of advantages to becoming the domain king. The main advantage being that it is the only to become one of the strongest beings in the universe. So if you don’t become the domain king, your potential to have ten pathways will surely go to waste.”

Then the guardian chuckled as they said, ”If you become the domain king, we will even allow you to change your status as a farm animal and join our race. In short, if you don’t become the Domain King, you can only become mediocre.”

”There can only be one domain king in the domain. This opportunity to become the Domain King is so precious that many of the people who will come when I unseal this domain will come to become the domain king.”

”The first step to take in becoming the domain king is to set up a Divine Mountain and create a pantheon. You already have the means to do that, so take advantage of it before the others can.”

”After you set up your pantheon, your goal is to advance to the next stage as soon as possible. I wish you good luck,” they said before their figure disappeared again, leaving Loki looking at the air.

With the guardian gone, Loki felt like he could relax again. He exhaled deeply, which caused tongues of fire to gush out of his nostrils.

Then his eyes brightened by several levels as he thought, ’So that’s what a Divine Mountain is for. It is for creating a pantheon.’

’If I am right, then a pantheon is for leading other gods. As for why this is important for becoming the domain king, I don’t know.’

Just as he was thinking, he sensed someone approaching him. He immediately put his divinity into his Divine Perception and turned in the direction of the incoming entity to see who it was.

He saw that the incoming entity was a giant humanoid spider. The lower half of the person was the abdomen of a white spider, while the upper half was that of a white monkey.

The hybrid spider had six spider appendages and two furry humanoid arms with opposable thumbs. There was a long black chain hanging from the furry arms.

On the monkey’s face, there were eight eyes. All eight eyes were multicolored gems, and all of them were staring at Loki. After spotting him, a smile appeared on the monkey’s face.

As the monkey smiled, it said, ”I’ve found you, you little troublemaker. Now you will pay for what you did to my domain.”

Loki didn’t wait for the monkey to finish speaking before he turned around to run. As he turned tail, he activated the Power Identification Ability and directed it at the spider-monkey hybrid.

According to the spark of power, his power output was Cultivation Rank(10) × Divine Perception(29 +272) × Divine Ability(8 × 1%) × Domain(8.1 billion sqkm) × 10(Authority), which was 19,504 units of celestial power.

This power struck the target, eliciting a response from them, which the spark of power took note of and analyzed, making him aware of how well his power had performed.

He saw through the spark of power that the enemy had responded with a power that stopped the Power Identification Ability short. So the response he got from the Power Identification Ability was nothing.

It was exactly like what had happened with the guardian earlier. The Power Identification Ability failed him.

His heart fell when this happened. His thoughts also began to churn as he tried to figure out what went wrong.

’Why is the Power Identification Ability failing me so frequently? Is every person I met too strong for me to inspect? Or is it because it is a 2-D ability?’

`Forget it, I’ll use my spirit to see myself. Surely, it can’t be so bad.’

As soon as he had this idea, he executed it. He sent the intangible power of his spirit behind him to scan the spider-monkey.

This was exactly what he did to his son earlier. However, this time, the outcome was vastly different.

His spirit met with a great force as soon as it made contact with Black Chain’s body, blocking the advance of his spirit. It was exactly like he smashed into a wall with an egg. The wall refused to budge, while the egg cracked open.

Black Chain also sensed his attempt and sneered, saying, ”Did you think because I couldn’t do anything to you when you were in the Sea of Worlds, I couldn’t do anything to you now?”

His voice was full of scorn, and his posture was one of confidence, as if everything was under his control. And indeed, everything was under his control.

This was exactly how he liked to do things. Being in control and having all the power felt like a drug to him. He felt a rush that made him bare his teeth into a grin with savage intentions.
