THE GOD EATER

He had a lot more potential, unfortunately ten godheads was the limit of godhead that could be created. This was how much potential the universe could manifest, so the remaining 665,241 units of potential and qualifications would go to waste.

However, just before the grand force of the universe could retreat and take the remainder of his potential away, the spark of power within him yanked on the potential and began assimilating it.

The potential was used to fill up the thirteenth cube. Then it was used to enhance the thirteen cubes, turning them golden.

His eyes lit up when he saw this, and he said with high expectations, ”They should be infinite now, right? Right?”

Unfortunately for him, aside from becoming golden, the cubes didn’t seem to have changed much. This frustrated him to no end.

”What am I missing? How do I use them?”

While he was working over the matter of creating a hypervolume Metac, the spark of power consumed the potential until it became completely golden. Now it looked exactly like the golden godheads, except that it had weight.

But even then, it could only consume 333,333 units of potential. This left 331,908 units of potential that the spark of power couldn’t use.

Seeing this, Loki shrugged and said, ”I guess I can only be content with an 11th godhead. That should count for something.”

He was willing to let it go, but then he saw the fragment of a Supreme Metac within the core of his Cave Heaven. It was the fragment of a white dog with a black tail.

This fragment had only just awakened with him and was in a battered state. It was in worse condition than before he repaired it because it hadn’t devoured any Divine Metac.

The fragment was missing more than 90% of its mass and should have been unrecognizable, but Loki was able to recognize it for what it was.

When Loki saw this fragment, he furrowed his brow and asked himself, saying, ”Where did it come from anyway? I am always awakening it together with my Energy Well. If I didn’t know better, I would think I was the fourth brother that everyone is talking about.”

”No matter. It has appeared time and time again to help me, so I have to appreciate it and use it well. I can’t be ungrateful.”

Saying so, he directed the grand force of the universe to repair a fragment of the Devouring Pathway for him. He didn’t think it would work, but the grand force of the universe actually listened to him.

Not only did the grand force of the universe repair Fenrir, but it also restored it to its peak state. That is, Fenrir was raised to rank 9 once again.

But the grand force of the universe didn’t stop there. It fused Fenrir with one of the ten godheads for him, providing the divine crystal and turning it into a star for him.

The golden star that Fenrir had become pushed aside the other nine godheads to become the closest star revolving around his Divine Spark. As for his spark of power, it was hidden within the Divine Spark.

All of these had cost 8,100 units of potential, leaving 323,808 units. With nothing left to do, the grand force of the universe took the 323,808 units of potential away with it. This marked the end of his advancement.

This time, Loki didn’t feel much heartache about letting the rest of his potential go to waste. He nodded in satisfaction and said, ”The manifestation of my potential isn’t my right anyway. It is a gift and an investment from the universe into me. I can’t be greedy when the universe has been sincere to me.”

Aside from this, there was also the matter of the Devouring Dao noticing him, preventing him from dwelling on his unrealized potential. For some reason, the Devouring Dao across the universe had also noticed his existence.

In his vision, a massive black hole had turned its gaze to him. It was a black hole and should have been something an unliving object, but Loki felt that this object was alive.

Just as he was wondering what was happening, the black hole said to him, ”A new talent with potential. Grow big and well quickly so that you will be fat when I come to eat you.”

As the voice of the black hole faded, the vision also faded away, leaving Loki with a belly full of anger and a face contorted with rage.

”First there was the cyclops. Now there is this. What do these people take me for? A weakling that they can boss around anyhow?”

”And what is that thing anyway? How did it sense me and what did I do to offend it? Does every Dao Lord experience something like this, or am I the only one being subjected to this treatment?”

While he was asking questions, in the world around him, the changes going on within Loki had been noticed by the people in the awakening room.

Of course, they couldn’t tell exactly what changes he was going through. They could only tell that he was definitely not doing something as mundane as opening an Energy Well.

On the surface, his skin was cracking and flaking. The flakes fell from his body like dry leaves falling from a dying tree.

He really looked like he was dying because he had gone pale, his body had shrunk in size, and he was literally crumbling right in front of them. No one thought that these symptoms were signs of good health.

All of the initiates scrambled away from him and went behind Muni for protection. But Muni, the great rank 3 cultivator that they all looked up to as their pillar of strength, didn’t know what to do.

Muni was just as lost as they were. As he racked his brain, he thought, ’I have never seen something like this happen before. What is going on?’
