THE GOD EATER

Unlike other seers who wouldn’t be able to lock onto a deceiver, his Life Ability is very powerful and was made to find things, so he can always find someone he has met before.

However, the rank 5 deceiver still has a mist of darkness obscuring their features and masking their voice. So he can’t tell what the rank 5 deceiver truly looks like.

He also can’t tell what the rank 5 deceiver has been doing at all because of that dark mist obscuring his vision. This makes him suspect that the armored warrior is a powerful deceiver.

He has also seen the armor of the armored warrior change in shape, color, and size, which reminds him of how the Mimic Life Ability of deceivers works. So he has become more and more inclined to believe that the armored warrior is a deceiver.

As he thought of this, he said to himself, “It would make sense how he was able to overcome the power of Skill Copy if he were a deceiver. But what about all of the abilities and moves that the Skill Copy Life Ability has copied? How did he overcome them?”

He wants to know how the armored warrior was able to defeat and kill his ace so that he won’t follow in the footsteps of the ace. But he couldn’t figure out how the ace died, much less work on how to prevent dying that way.

The ace seemed to have simply disappeared. Her existence stopped when she met with the armored warrior, so he can’t see how she died either.

This made him shake his head and say, “I should forget about it. It is not as if I am going to confront him anyway. As long as I keep my distance from him, I will be fine.”

A few minutes later, he came upon the deceiver. The deceiver was still pretending to be a rock. It was a convincing rock, but he wasn’t fooled.

He called out to the rock from his position in the air, “Enough playing around. We have work to do.”

The rock snorted in frustration. Then it transformed into a cloaked figure obscured with mist.

The cloaked figure flew into the air to join him. Then the two of them flew away in another direction.

On their way there, the rank 5 deceiver said, “I need the coordinates of a world after this.”

The seer frowned and said, “It will cost you.”

The deceiver said with confidence, “Don’t worry. I can pay.”

The deceiver seemed to be telling the truth, which only someone like him can determine. So he relaxed.

He nodded in satisfaction and said, “I should have a world for you in a year. When we return, I will stay in the star observatory until I’ve found one.”

“Of course, that’s if you pay me first. I won’t work until I see the money.”

The deceiver chuckled and said, “Trust me, I’ll pay.”

Then he said, “Where are we going anyway?”

The seer said, “We are going to get a third helper. We need her if we are to defeat the people protecting the symbol of authority.”

This surprised the deceiver. He raised his eyebrow as he said, “What about Sheila? Where is she?”

“I would have expected someone as cocky as her to be raring to fight. I can’t imagine that she would want to miss out on this.”

The seer replied, saying, “Sheila’s dead.”

The deceiver first thought that he was joking. But then he remembered that no one should be joking about something so important right now, and he became solemn.

His voice was a little bit agitated as he asked, saying, “Who killed her?”

The seer clocked his head as he thought of what to say. When he made up his mind, he said, “The person looks like a rank 4 forger.”

He thought about hiding this information so that the deceiver won’t run away at the first sight of the armored warrior. But he also didn’t want the deceiver to underestimate the armored warrior and be easily killed. So he decided to tell the truth.

But even the truth that he said wasn’t good enough for the deceiver. The deceiver frowned as he said, “What do you mean by ’looks like a rank 4 forger’. Not only is it out of place coming out of your mouth that you don’t know exactly what the person is, but it is also absurd to say that Sheila was killed by a rank 4 cultivator of any pathway.”

It is true that someone like him should be more sure about things and should know everything. But in this case, he was truly stumped.

So he shrugged and said, “What can I say? He truly is a difficult enemy to deal with.”

“Outwardly, he looked like an armored forger wearing an exoskeleton. But his exoskeleton behaves like a mimic, and I can’t gather much information about him.”

“This is why I believe that he is a deceiver with the Mimic Life Ability. But I am not sure. There is something blocking my sight, and it doesn’t seem to be based on the power of darkness or the power of deceit.”

This time, the information he gave was good enough for the deceiver. So the deceiver nodded and said, “That’s alright. I trust your judgment. If you say he should be a deceiver with the Mimic Life Ability, then he is a deceiver with the Mimic Life Ability.”

“At the very least, he has to be hiding his cultivation somehow. He has to because I don’t see how a rank 4 cultivator can defeat any rank 5 cultivator. Not even a Divine Metac can help narrow the raw gap in power.”

The mention of a Divine Metac made the seer say, “But a Divine Metac could explain why I can’t tell what he is using to block my sight.”

He was serious when he said this. His seriousness was obvious in his solemn voice and how his brows were furrowed in thought.
