THE GOD EATER

After speaking she picked the direction of any major city nearby and went there to find a world guardian. She is looking for world guardians so that they can tell her where the symbol of authority of their world is.

Of course, no world guardian would offer that information easily. She might have to kill the world guardian, but she doesn’t mind doing so because once all the world guardians are dead, the symbol of authority will reveal itself.

She didn’t fly at a slow speed towards the city even though her main objective had been achieved. And she doesn’t intend to be laid back in her search either. This is because it is very important to her that the Four Directions Sect wins this Heavenly Battlefield.

She is taking this search seriously because if the Four Directions Sect loses, she and the other rank 5 cultivators, whose job is to protect the rank 4 cultivators, will have to pay for the lives of every rank 4 cultivator that was killed by the people of the other sects in the line of duty.

Of course, winning will also grant her a lot of rewards. And if she performed particularly well, she might even gain the reward for being the most useful soldier, which would increase her chances and performance when breaking through to rank 6.

But if the reward isn’t good enough to motivate her to make sure that the Four Directions Sect wins, then the punishment to pay for the lives of every dead rank 4 will have to motivate her.

This is a good thing because she doesn’t think she has any chance of getting the most useful soldier title. She believes that the other two rank 5 cultivators, especially the death cultivator, have a better chance of winning that honor.

If there were no punishment, then she would have a lot more reasons to be lazy. The acquisition of victory in this Heavenly Battlefield would be a side quest that she couldn’t care about.

When she thought of her two companions, she clicked her tongue as she said to herself, ’On one side is someone who kills with money and earns more money the more she kills with money, thereby making her capable of killing indefinitely without putting in much effort.’

’On the other hand, there is someone else who grows stronger by killing people and possesses the corpse of a divine being to help him kill stronger people.’

Then she shook her head and said, ’How can I compete with them? Unless I bring out my mutated Life Ability and go on a rampage with it, I will always fall far behind the two of them.’

’Fortunately, I don’t need the title now. I am still a long way from breaking through to rank 6. So I can always return when I need the title.’

It is not that she isn’t powerful with just her normal hammer. She is very powerful, but she has had fewer chances to display her power in this battle, and even if she makes full use of her power, she still won’t be able to do better than her two companions.

Take the three enemies that she had fought, for instance. She fought a killing cultivator, a sword cultivator, and a deceiver. In all cases, her hammer couldn’t kill them.

First of all, the killing cultivator could transform his body into blood that is practically immune to all physical damage. Secondly, the sword cultivator could attack her with fast, invisible sword strikes and could always deflect her hammer or avoid it.

Lastly, the deceiver could rob her of her sight and make it impossible for her to attack him. So her great physical might went to waste against him. If she hadn’t used her mutated Life Ability, she wouldn’t have been able to threaten him at all.

To be honest, the outcome of the three fights didn’t surprise her. This was because she already knew what she was capable of, and she knew that her hammer was meant for crafting, not for fighting. That’s why it was called the Craftman’s Hammer Life Ability.

Of course, this didn’t mean that she and the Life Ability were useless. There was also the fact that she matched against the wrong opponents.

If she fought a forger or a giant or anyone who can’t mess with her mind and spirit, she would be able to crush them. The only exception to this rule is the strangely dangerous rank 4 forger whom she encountered earlier.

The thought of that rank 4 forger made her chuckle and say to herself, ’I wonder how it would play out between him and his rank 5 superior.’

’Frankly, I would be fine with them killing each other. I’m not even sure who I want to die more between him and that pompous Kelvin.`

Then she laughed as she said, ’That Kelvin thinks just because he is part of a noble family, he is better than me. How can he be better than me if we both can’t reveal our mutated Life Abilities to anyone? In fact, it will be easier for him to lose his Divine Metac since he is just a slave to that divine being.’

She doesn’t like to use her mutated Life Abilities because it would draw the attention of divine beings, who would then begin to watch her.

Those divine beings won’t make a move yet. But once it is discovered that she is in possession of a Divine Metac, they will come for her.

This is a problem that every rank 5 cultivator, including the ones in divine beings, has to face. Being in a divine family doesn’t exempt anyone from this danger because every divine being always wants more Divine Metacs.

What makes her and Kelvin different is that she will be able to resist when a divine being targets her and comes for her Divine Metac. Her resistance would be futile and ineffective, of course, but she would still be able to resist.
