The Entry-plundering Demon Hunter

Chapter 390: Chapter 349: Long Overdue, the Promise-Breaking Foreigners

Freed from the grip, Zhong Yan quickly rubbed his neck and coughed twice.

”Elder He, you really need to get your Town Martial Department people in line! They can’t even take a joke. He was trying to kill me!” Zhong Yan complained hurriedly.

Old He shot him a glance. ”You ran your mouth, and now you’re blaming someone else?”

”Alright, sit down. How has the Elder Celestial Master’s health been recently?”

”My master? He’s not on the mountain!” Zhong Yan replied quickly, taking a seat next to Yang Biao.

Who in the Huawu Alliance didn’t know that the Elder Celestial Master had gone to the Southeast Battlefield?

Who in the entire New District didn’t know?

Otherwise, would those men in black have chosen to attack Dragon Tiger Mountain only when the Elder Celestial Master was away?

For Old He to ask this was, frankly, playing dumb.

He gave an awkward laugh. ”I’ve been so busy with things lately, it completely slipped my mind!”

”Still, I have to say, I’m quite surprised that Dragon Tiger Mountain sent you to lead the team this time!”

”This Martial Arts tournament is a matter of pride for our Huawu Alliance!”

”I hope all the disciples from Dragon Tiger Mountain will do their utmost to bring glory to Hua Wu!”

Zhong Yan smiled and nodded. ”Elder He, don’t you worry. We either don’t show up, or we give it our all. I’m planning on taking first place back with me, to make my master proud!”

Hearing this, Old He couldn’t help but burst out laughing.

”Hahaha... Good! If Dragon Tiger Mountain can really take first place and crush those outsiders, it won’t just be an honor for Dragon Tiger Mountain, but for our entire Huawu Alliance!”

After Old He and Zhong Yan exchanged a few more pleasantries, the representatives from the other universities began to arrive one after another.

Yanyang, a university principal, and Shen Da, a tactical combat coach, arrived leading their team.

Just as the two of them had sat down,

Shi Wenxue, a medical professor from Lanshan University; Lei Hu, the principal of Tieshan University; and Chen Song, the principal of Divine Fist University, all personally led their teams over as well.

In an instant, the lounge grew lively.

Those who knew each other began to exchange greetings and catch up.

Then there were those like Yanyang and Shen Da, who sat in silence.

Stern and unsmiling, they betrayed no hint of emotion.

And Shi Wenxue, the professor from Lanshan University, was going around diagnosing people and treating their ailments...

Everyone was playing to their strengths, sharing insights and experiences.

Old He glanced around the room.

He noticed that while the other universities had arrived, Xingwu University was still missing.

He looked up at the clock on the wall.

There was less than half an hour until the scheduled start of the exchange.

Just then, Lei Hu, the principal of Tieshan University, frowned and looked at Old He.

”Elder He, there’s only half an hour left. Why aren’t those outsiders here yet?”

His words were like a sudden clap of thunder.

The lounge immediately fell silent.

All eyes turned to Old He.

In truth, they had been discontent ever since they walked in and saw not a single outsider present.

The arrogance of these outsiders was astounding.

The start time was drawing near, and not one of them had appeared.

They were clearly not taking this seriously at all.

Old He shot a look at Lei Hu. ”There’s still half an hour. What’s the rush?”

”They’ve come from a long way. Shouldn’t we let them get some proper rest?

In a little while, they’re just going to get beaten down by our universities anyway. What’s wrong with letting them rest up a bit more?”

Although Old He’s tone was a bit harsh, his words immediately caused the representatives from the other universities to erupt in laughter.

And with just a few words, Old He had dissipated their discontent.

That’s right. They’d come all this way just to get a beating, so what was the harm in letting them rest?

Their resentment quickly vanished, and they went back to talking and laughing.

In his heart, however, Old He was growing more and more dissatisfied.

The arrogance of these outsiders had already displeased him.

He glanced over at Meng Die.

Meng Die understood, quickly getting up and walking over. ”Elder He, should I go and check on them?”

Old He nodded. ”Yes, go. See what those outsiders are up to.”

”And tell them that if they’re not here when the time comes, we won’t wait for them!”

”Understood!”

Meng Die nodded and walked out of the lounge.

But just as she left,

the lounge doors were pushed open again.

Director Qiao walked into the lounge, and it immediately fell quiet.

All eyes turned to look at him.

”Director Qiao is here!”

”Hahaha... I didn’t expect Director Qiao to lead the team personally. It’s been too long!”

”Director Qiao...”

The people from the several schools all knew Old Qiao.

And they all greeted him warmly.

Director Qiao smiled and nodded to each of them before walking straight to Old He.

”Director He, are we late?”

”Not at all, not at all, your timing is perfect. Director Qiao, did your school’s Lin Yi come?” Old He asked eagerly.

It seemed they were all full of anticipation for Lin Yi.

But Director Qiao’s expression changed, and he shook his head slightly. ”Unfortunately, Lin Yi went into seclusion at Dragon Tiger Mountain over two months ago and has yet to return.”

”I’m afraid he won’t be able to participate in today’s Martial Arts exchange. He’s been in seclusion for over two months...”

”Actually, Daoist Zhong Yan from Dragon Tiger Mountain is right here, isn’t he? You can ask him for the details!”

After Director Qiao finished speaking,

Old He glanced over at Zhong Yan.

He saw Zhong Yan was currently lost in an animated conversation with the person next to him.

His attention wasn’t on them at all.

A flash of disappointment crossed Old He’s eyes. He shook his head and said, ”Never mind. It’s a shame, but it can’t be helped. Cultivation is more important... Director Qiao, you should find a place to sit. None of those people from the Outer Alliance have arrived yet!”

Director Qiao smiled and nodded.

He found an empty armchair and sat down.

He waited quietly for the time to come.

However, time ticked by, second by second.

There were less than ten minutes left until the exchange was set to begin.

Not a single person from the Outer Alliance had arrived, and even Meng Die had yet to return.

This made the people in the lounge increasingly restless.

Gradually, the murmurs of discussion died down.

The atmosphere in the entire lounge grew heavy.

They all sat in silence, their expressions dark.

Clearly, they were all angered by the arrogance of the outsiders.

It was they who had come to the Huawu Alliance demanding a Martial Arts exchange.

And the Martial Arts Alliance had given them plenty of face.

They had even arranged for several of the best universities to participate.

The time and place were all set.

Everyone was just waiting for a good exchange today.

But now, with the start time just moments away,

there was still no sign of those barbarians from the Outer Alliance.

This was clearly a deliberate delay, a sign that they were not being taken seriously.

Seeing that there were less than five minutes left until the appointed time,

even Old He’s expression began to darken.

An unnamed fury began to spread throughout the lounge...

And just as the atmosphere reached its most oppressive point,

suddenly, the lounge doors were pushed open.
