The Entry-plundering Demon Hunter

Chapter 360: Chapter 322: Life Is Hard Enough, Must We Also Live in Fear?

”Your master? You’re one of First Senior Brother’s disciples, aren’t you?”

Lin Yi glanced at Wang Yong with a smile.

Seeing that Lin Yi didn’t seem to hold any ill will and was even smiling, Wang Yong grew increasingly excited.

Believing he was saved, he quickly nodded.

”Yes, yes, yes! I-I’m his disciple. My name is Wang Yong...”

Lin Yi nodded. ”Alright. Then I’ll send you to see First Senior Brother.”

”Okay, okay! Thank you, thank you, Little Martial Uncle!” Wang Yong cried, tears of gratitude streaming down his face.

’My life is saved.’

But then, Lin Yi shook his head. ”No need to thank me. He’s waiting for you down below.”

SMACK—

Before Wang Yong could even process what that sentence meant,

Lin Yi’s palm struck the top of his head.

Instantly, blood poured from Wang Yong’s seven orifices.

Even in death, he couldn’t understand. ’Weren’t you taking me to see my master? Why did you kill me?’

As the body collapsed to the ground,

Second Senior Brother opened his eyes. ”Little Junior Brother, what did you mean by that just now? First Senior Brother... he...”

”He’s dead. I killed him.”

Lin Yi walked over and said it without any reservation.

Hearing this, Second Senior Brother’s expression tightened, and he looked up at him.

”Everything that’s happened in Dragon Tiger City was orchestrated by First Senior Brother and these men in black.

”He wanted to usurp Master and take control of Dragon Tiger Mountain. Many of our fellow disciples fell victim to them!”

”If I hadn’t come out of seclusion in time, I’m afraid Senior Brother Zhong Yan would have met a grim end too!”

”These men in black have already infiltrated Dragon Tiger City!”

”Thankfully, peace has been restored to Dragon Tiger Mountain, and all those men in black have been driven out!”

”Second Senior Brother, let me take you back first.”

After Lin Yi’s brief explanation,

Second Senior Brother finally understood what had happened and why Wang Yong was with those men in black.

However, he still couldn’t quite comprehend First Senior Brother’s betrayal of the sect.

First Senior Brother had always been modest and kind, treating all his junior brothers and sisters with genuine care.

Most of the time, he truly lived up to the title of ”First Senior Brother.”

’How could he betray the sect? Why would he do something like this?’

Though Second Senior Brother couldn’t understand his motives, just as Lin Yi helped him to his feet,

he hurriedly said, ”Right, your Third Senior Brother and Little Senior Sister also came out to do some Demon Hunting like me. I was ambushed by these men in black. Could they also be...”

Lin Yi smiled. ”Second Senior Brother, don’t worry. Before I came to rescue you, I already had them head back up the mountain. With First Senior Brother dead and Senior Brother Zhong Yan heavily injured, there’s no one to hold down the fort!”

”With the two of them there, even if those men in black dare to cause trouble, they’ll have to think twice!”

Hearing Lin Yi say this, Second Senior Brother’s heart was finally put at ease.

Lin Yi glanced again at the Little Daoists.

They were long dead. There were no survivors.

Second Senior Brother sighed and shook his head, his eyes turning a little red.

Those were all his disciples.

They had followed him down the mountain for Demon Hunting this time and had achieved quite a bit.

Who would have thought that they wouldn’t be killed by demons, but would instead be betrayed by their own sect-mates.

”Wait, I’ll take them with me!”

Second Senior Brother walked over to his disciples and took out a jade pendant.

Then, he stored all their bodies inside the pendant.

It was actually a Storage Magical Artifact, which was an eye-opener for Lin Yi.

After everything was cleaned up, Lin Yi took Second Senior Brother and headed back to Dragon Tiger Mountain.

「Dawn was just breaking.」

Dragon Tiger Mountain and Dragon Tiger University had finally returned to their usual peace.

The disciples on the mountain had suffered heavy losses and immense casualties that night.

The seriously injured could be seen everywhere.

Even the students of Dragon Tiger University were not spared.

Fortunately, Lin Yi’s timely intervention prevented the situation from worsening.

This was how Dragon Tiger Mountain survived the crisis.

”My two Senior Brothers, please focus on recuperating. You don’t need to worry about matters on the mountain.”

Lin Yi looked at Second Senior Brother Zhao Gang and Zhong Yan.

After murmuring a few words to them,

they both nodded. ”Don’t worry about us. Go and take care of your own business.”

”With your Third Senior Brother and Little Senior Sister on the mountain, those men in black won’t dare to act rashly!”

Zhong Yan seemed to have seen through Lin Yi’s thoughts.

He understood that it was unrealistic to ask Lin Yi to stay and guard Dragon Tiger Mountain.

Lin Yi wasn’t like them. They had grown up here, and their entire world—friends and fellow disciples alike—was on Dragon Tiger Mountain.

But Lin Yi was different. His friends were outside, and the people he cared about weren’t on the mountain.

These men in black had appeared so mysteriously, and they had even managed to infiltrate Dragon Tiger Mountain.

It was needless to say what could happen to other places.

How could Lin Yi not worry about his friends? Therefore, Zhong Yan had no intention of forcing him to stay.

Besides, after a night of recuperation, his own injuries had already recovered somewhat.

Although he couldn’t return to his peak condition yet, he just needed a few days.

He would definitely make a full recovery.

And during these few days, with Second Senior Brother and Little Senior Sister around,

nothing too chaotic would happen on Dragon Tiger Mountain.

Second Senior Brother also nodded. ”Your Senior Brother Zhong is right. Don’t worry about us. Go do what you need to do.”

Seeing how understanding both his senior brothers were,

Lin Yi nodded. ”Once things are settled over there, I’ll be back right away!”

Both senior brothers smiled, and Lin Yi then bid them farewell and left.

He then found Third Senior Brother and Little Senior Sister.

He told them of his intention to leave.

As it turned out, they were both very supportive. They said, ”Second Senior Brother and the others are right. Go take care of your own business. These men in black have come with ill intent!”

”If they dare to target Dragon Tiger Mountain, other places are probably in danger too!”

Little Senior Sister added with a smile.

Lin Yi nodded, and after bidding them farewell as well,

he left the area.

Watching his departing figure, Little Senior Sister said with some envy, ”Little Junior Brother is so young, yet he has such a high level of cultivation. His future is limitless!”

Hearing this, Third Senior Brother glanced at her. ”With great power comes great responsibility.”

”I’m actually more worried for him. These men in black have sprung up like bamboo shoots after a spring rain, rising overnight!”

”They’ve infiltrated the various cities of the New District, casting a pall of crisis over the entire region!”

”If it weren’t for Little Junior Brother, I’m afraid Dragon Tiger Mountain would have already fallen under their control.”

”And I feel like this is only the beginning.”

”First the demons, now these men in black... The person playing this game of chess probably can’t hold back any longer!”

”Before Master returns, and before Second Senior Brother and Junior Brother Zhong Yan recover, Dragon Tiger Mountain will have to rely on the two of us!”

Little Senior Sister nodded. ”I’ll guard Dragon Tiger University. I’ll leave the mountain to you.”

”Keep your communication lines open. If you spot anything, contact the other immediately.”

”Yes, that’s all we can do for now.”

After they finished their discussion, they each headed toward their assigned areas.

...

Lin Yi sat in a taxi.

It was heading straight for Songshan City.

Inside the car, Lin Yi scrolled through his phone, looking at news from the various cities in the New District from the past two months.

Beyond his expectations, the New District had fallen into chaos.

The captains of the Demon Hunting Teams in more than a dozen cities had been attacked.

Among them, seven or eight Demon Hunting Squads had been completely wiped out.

In addition, even the Town Martial Department had been attacked by demons and men in black.

Various departments had suffered heavy blows of differing severity.

This caused Lin Yi’s brows to furrow deeply.

No one could explain where these men in black had come from.

Overnight, just like the demons, they had appeared in cities all over the New District.

Some of the smaller influential families were the first to be attacked.

After that, it was the various government departments. Now, it seemed they had set their sights on the Martial Arts Universities.

Dragon Tiger Mountain was one example.

Besides Dragon Tiger Mountain, places like Xingwu University, Lanshan University, and Martial Alliance University were still safe.

But just last night, the other two ordinary Martial Arts Universities were also attacked.

The students at those schools suffered heavy casualties.

These men in black were acting purely for the sake of killing, like a pack of madmen.

This couldn’t help but make Lin Yi think of Blood Drop.

There were striking similarities between them.

However, Blood Drop always had a clear objective in everything they did.

But with these men in black, their objective was completely invisible.

It was completely indiscriminate killing. Even ordinary people walking down the street could become their targets.

Without a target, you couldn’t grasp their motive.

This made it impossible to anticipate their next move.

’Are we just supposed to wait and take the hits?’

’Are we supposed to rely entirely on guesswork to predict their next plan?’

’Over time, this will only cause the Demon Hunting Bureau and the Town Martial Department to lose their direction.’

’They’ll be like headless flies, being led around by the nose...’

”Are you a student from Dragon Tiger Mountain?”

Suddenly, the taxi driver asked.

Sitting in the passenger seat, Lin Yi looked up from his phone.

He shook his head with a smile. ”I’m a student at Xingwu University.”

”Oh, no wonder!”

”Sigh, these days... I just don’t understand the world anymore.”

”I remember back when the Old District was in chaos, with demons running rampant. So many people would have done anything to get into the New District.

”All because the security here in the New District was good, without the threat of so many demons.”

”And look at it now. We only had a few years of peace, and the New District has become even more chaotic than the Old District!”

”Haven’t you seen the recent news? The demons have all gotten in, and there’s a group of mysterious men in black. They just kill on sight, and there’s no stopping them!”

”If this keeps up, I’m afraid the New District will end up just like the Old District.”

”When that time comes, what hope will there be for us ordinary folks to survive?”

The driver sighed and shook his head.

Lin Yi smiled and said, ”That won’t happen. The New District has the Demon Hunting Bureau and the Town Martial Department. Although they haven’t figured out a strategy yet, I believe they’ll sort things out soon.”

”The New District will still be the New District, and public order will return to normal.”

Hearing this, the driver glanced back at Lin Yi.

He nodded with a smile. ”I sure hope so. I hope it’s really as you say.”

”Let us common people live a peaceful life.”

”Just living is tiring enough. Having to be on edge all day, never knowing if you’ll see tomorrow... I’ve really had enough of these days.”

The driver said with a heavy sigh.

Apparently, he had also once been an ordinary person living in the Old District.

Thanks to his son, or perhaps daughter, getting into a Martial Arts University,

he was able to come to the New District. It should have been a good thing.

The environment in the New District was so much better than in the Old District.

But who could have imagined...

...that the New District would also fall into chaos, and the good days would come to an end after just a short while.

Who would be resigned to such a fate?

Lin Yi didn’t say anything more, his gaze shifting to the view outside the car window.

His expression gradually became profound and determined...
