The Entry-plundering Demon Hunter

Chapter 356: Chapter 318: Bound by Master’s Command, I Cannot Obey

Red and blue police lights illuminated the entire street.

They also illuminated the three bodies on the ground.

Wei Shang, Feng Lei, and personnel from Luofeng City’s local Public Security Bureau and Right Guard had completely sealed off the area.

They approached and looked down at the bodies.

Wei Shang’s expression grew increasingly grim.

”That’s the third captain now!”

Feng Lei murmured.

Wei Shang nodded. ”It seems their targets are the Demon Hunting Squads in each city!”

”Should we report this to the Town Martial Department first, or the Demon Hunting Bureau?”

Feng Lei’s mood was also grim.

Although the Demon Hunting Bureau and the Town Martial Department were two different departments, and they would often clash over Demon Hunting and arresting criminals, at the end of the day, they were both dedicated to maintaining order in the New District.

One was primarily responsible for Demon Hunting, the other for arresting criminals.

But if a demon beast were to cause trouble, the Town Martial Department would also take action.

Likewise, if someone was causing a disturbance, the Demon Hunting Bureau wouldn’t just stand by and watch.

The nature of the two departments was essentially the same.

Now that the Demon Hunting Squads of three cities had been completely wiped out, Wei Shang and Feng Lei, as members of the Town Martial Department, felt a heavy weight in their hearts.

Wei Shang sighed softly and said, ”Let’s collect their bodies first. I’ll report this to Elder He, then contact the Demon Hunting Bureau!”

”Alright!”

Feng Lei nodded and called over a few people from the Public Security Bureau.

He had them take the three bodies away.

Meanwhile, Wei Shang took out his phone and called Old He.

After reporting the situation, he then explained Luofeng City’s circumstances to the Demon Hunting Bureau.

When he finished his calls, Wei Shang’s mood grew even heavier.

”Elder He said that Luofeng City can’t be left unmanned. He wants the two of us to stay here temporarily. The Demon Hunting Bureau also said they’ll make arrangements as soon as possible and send people to take over for Lao Liu and his team!”

After Wei Shang finished speaking, Feng Lei nodded.

This outcome was already within their expectations.

For some time now, they had been running from city to city with the men from the Right Guard.

This same situation had happened at least three times.

So, they had long since grown accustomed to it.

Wei Shang and Feng Lei turned and summoned the director of the Luofeng City Public Security Bureau.

”Director Qin, Captain Liu and his men have been sacrificed, but our work must continue. We absolutely cannot let them die in vain!”

”They defended the Demon Hunting Bureau’s principles and responsibilities with their lives, defended the safety of Luofeng City!”

”From now on, we will work together until a new Demon Hunting Squad is dispatched!”

”During this time, I hope the Public Security Bureau will cooperate fully!”

”To manage Luofeng City’s security issues, starting now, the Public Security Bureau must patrol nonstop, 24 hours a day, to ensure the safety of all districts and maintain open lines of communication!”

When Wei Shang finished, Director Qin nodded repeatedly.

”Yes, Commander! The Luofeng City Public Security Bureau will absolutely cooperate fully with your work!”

Wei Shang and Feng Lei nodded.

Then, their gazes shifted to the Right Guard.

In the next moment, Wei Shang’s eyes turned icy, his killing intent flaring.

”Right Guard, hear my order!”

”Sir!”

Each of them had eyes like torches, brimming with murderous aura.

Wei Shang said with an ice-cold gaze, ”Search all of Luofeng City. Whether it’s demon beasts or the black-robed figures... if you find them, kill them on sight!”

”Yes, Sir!”

After receiving the order, the dozens of elite members of the Right Guard all dispersed in their respective squads.

Wei Shang and Feng Lei also sped off in different directions.

Captain Liu and his two men had just died, which meant the murderers couldn’t have gone far.

They might not have even left Luofeng City. Wei Shang and Feng Lei had to use this opportunity to dig them out, one by one.

「That night.」

An atmosphere of anger and sorrow enveloped Luofeng City.

Police cars drove through every street and alley.

Their red and blue lights flashed, illuminating the entire city.

Furthermore, Wei Shang and Feng Lei led the Right Guard in a city-wide manhunt for the black-robed figures.

Although the news that Captain Liu and the entire Demon Hunting Squad had been annihilated had not been released, some people had already vaguely guessed that something was wrong.

At the very least, they knew something major had happened in Luofeng City that night.

...

BOOM—

A powerful current of air surged out from within the Star Tempering Barrier.

Zhong Yan, who was standing guard outside, shot up in alarm.

He hurried to the edge of the barrier and stared inside.

But this was a barrier set by the Elder Celestial Master. Forget him, even his First Senior Brother and the others would be completely unable to enter.

Not to mention, he couldn’t see what was happening inside at all.

’A breakthrough?’

Just as Zhong Yan was observing,

a voice suddenly came from behind him.

He quickly turned to look. ”First Senior Brother?”

Zhong Yan hadn’t sensed First Senior Brother’s approach at all.

And although the aura just now had been domineering and powerful, it shouldn’t have been enough to bring First Senior Brother over so quickly.

First Senior Brother nodded. ”How is it? Has Youngest Junior Brother broken through already?”

Zhong Yan gave him a complicated look. ”I’m not sure. We’ll know when he comes out!”

”Why don’t we break the barrier and go in to check?”

”It’s been so long. I’m worried something might have happened to him in there.”

”Besides, I’ve heard that during a breakthrough, it’s possible for one’s energy to flow backward, causing damage to their foundation. Youngest Junior Brother’s talent is so good, his foundation must be excellent!”

”If an accident really did happen and no one noticed, the consequences would be unthinkable!”

After First Senior Brother finished speaking,

he was about to step forward to break the barrier and force his way in.

Zhong Yan quickly blocked his path, his gaze like a torch. ”First Senior Brother, Master gave a clear order! Unless Youngest Junior Brother comes out on his own, no one is to damage the barrier or trespass inside!”

Hearing this, First Senior Brother shot him an icy glance.

”Junior Brother Zhong, I’m not trying to force my way in. I’m just worried about Youngest Junior Brother. I want to go in and check on him!”

”If he’s safe, I’ll come right back out. Move!”

”No!”

Zhong Yan stood firm, refusing to let First Senior Brother break the barrier no matter what.

The icy glint in First Senior Brother’s eyes intensified.

”Junior Brother Zhong, don’t blame me for not warning you. If you don’t move, then don’t blame your First Senior Brother for being impolite!”

Zhong Yan looked at the First Senior Brother before him as if he were a complete stranger.

First Senior Brother had always been reserved and had cared deeply for his junior brothers and sisters.

Whenever the Elder Celestial Master was about to reprimand them, it was always First Senior Brother who would step up to speak on their behalf and plead for mercy.

Even if someone made a mistake, he would be the one to step forward and take the blame.

But now, First Senior Brother was like a different person.

’What on earth has happened to him?’

”Are you going to move or not?”

The killing intent in First Senior Brother’s eyes grew even stronger.

Zhong Yan shook his head. ”I cannot!”

”Fine. Then don’t blame your First Senior Brother!”

After he spoke,

the Qi and Blood around his body expanded rapidly.

Then, with a sudden palm strike, he viciously swiped at Zhong Yan.

However, First Senior Brother was only at the Six-Star Realm.

And Zhong Yan had long since reached the Seven-Star Realm.

The gap between them had long since widened.

If they were to truly fight, based on the difference in their realms alone, First Senior Brother would be no match for Zhong Yan.

For Zhong Yan, this palm strike was easy to dodge.

And he had no intention of standing there and taking the hit.

After all, he was under his master’s orders to protect his Youngest Junior Brother, Lin Yi.

No one was allowed to cause trouble here before he finished his breakthrough.

So, after dodging, he quickly circled around to First Senior Brother’s side.

He followed up with a kick aimed at First Senior Brother.

Seeing this, First Senior Brother hastily dodged.

The killing intent in his eyes intensified. ”Zhong Yan, you dare to fight back?”

”I have my master’s orders and cannot obey you. First Senior Brother, don’t make this difficult for me!”

”Master’s orders? Master isn’t even on the mountain, so why are you being so stubborn? Just let me go in and take a look! Move!”

After saying this,

First Senior Brother once again sent a palm strike flying toward Zhong Yan.

BOOM—

Zhong Yan had just dodged when he saw a crater blasted into the ground behind him.

Seeing this, Zhong Yan whipped his head around. ”First Senior Brother, are you trying to kill me?”

”You’re obstructing me. So what if I kill you?”

First Senior Brother’s eyes gradually turned crimson.

His killing intent materialized, truly looking as if he was about to kill Zhong Yan.

Zhong Yan looked at the unrecognizable First Senior Brother and nodded.

”Fine, fine, fine... First Senior Brother, you’d cast aside our bond as fellow disciples and use lethal force against me, is that it?”

”I don’t know why you’ve become like this!”

”Whether you’ve been bewitched by someone, or you’re determined to betray our sect!”

”As long as I, Zhong Yan, am here today, you can forget about breaking the barrier and disturbing my junior brother’s breakthrough!”

”Unless... I die!”

In the next moment, Zhong Yan took a stance.

Suddenly, a clear cry rang out.

An image of a gray wolf appeared behind him.

Seeing this, First Senior Brother’s brow furrowed deeply. ”Fine, fine, fine. Junior Brother Zhong, you want to fight your First Senior Brother, is that it?”

”Alright, then let your First Senior Brother see how much you’ve improved!”

The words had barely left his lips when the Qi and Blood throughout First Senior Brother’s body began to boil.

Then, a bloody aura began to spread around him.

His body was enveloped in a cloud of bloody energy.

As the bloody energy slowly took shape, the image of a Blood Demon appeared.

Seeing this, Zhong Yan’s expression changed abruptly.

”First Senior Brother, you’re...”

He could clearly feel that the moment the Blood Demon appeared, First Senior Brother’s realm seemed to have instantly leveled up.

He, who was originally only at the Six-Star Realm, had suddenly shot up to the peak of the Seven-Star Realm.

Just like Lin Yi, he was on the verge of breaking through to the Star Tempering Realm.

The corner of First Senior Brother’s mouth lifted into a scornful sneer. ”Junior Brother Zhong, let me test your skills!”

After speaking, First Senior Brother seized the initiative.

He lunged straight for Zhong Yan.

’In this moment, he finally understood. All this time, First Senior Brother had been hiding his true realm. He had clearly reached the Seven-Star Realm, yet he suppressed it to the Six-Star Realm. He even managed to deceive the Elder Celestial Master? And what’s the deal with his Blood Demon? Why does he have a Blood Demon? This is completely contrary to the cultivation methods of Dragon Tiger Mountain. Could it be that he has already...’

He had no time to think further; First Senior Brother was already upon him.

Empowered by the Blood Demon, First Senior Brother’s speed, strength, and explosive power were all pushed to their absolute limits, reaching a level that completely crushed Zhong Yan.

BOOM—

As a fist smashed toward Zhong Yan,

he had no time to dodge and crossed his arms in front of him.

The fist slammed directly into them.

Instantly, Zhong Yan felt himself get sent flying by an immense force.

The bones in both of his arms were nearly shattered.

The intense pain made his expression twist.

The moment he landed with a CRASH,

Zhong Yan endured the severe pain and sprang back up from the ground.

First Senior Brother was out for blood. He was terrified that if he were even half a step too slow, his life would be forfeit.

But just as he got back to his feet,

First Senior Brother was already right in front of him, an even wider, sinister grin on his face.

A massive fist smashed down toward Zhong Yan once again.

Seeing this, Zhong Yan cast aside his earlier thoughts.

His gaze turned icy as he said, ”First Senior Brother, since you intend to kill me, don’t blame this junior brother for showing no mercy!”

AWOO—

A wolf’s howl echoed through the mountain peak.

A flash of green light crossed Zhong Yan’s eyes, and he too lunged toward First Senior Brother.
