The Devil Does Not Need to Be Defeated

Chapter 308: Have at you then!

The banquet this night is destined to become a legend that will shake the entire Capital.

It was merely a viscountʼs ennobling banquet, yet not only did countless dukes and marquis show up, even the entire royal family had arrived to grace the banquet with their presence. That alone was enough to make a commotion.

However, compared to the two who showed up near the end, all those were merely small potatoes.

———— [Moon Demon].

———— [Dragon Demon].

Two of the Six Great Demon Lords. The sovereign of the demon world and the king of all dragons. The fact that they both showed up in this banquet was one thing, but theyʼre even staying in the Bayztrot home now. For something so unbelievable, never mind shaking the entire Capital, it would probably shake the entire mortal world.

Even the divine realm might very well end up alarmed with this turn of events and take action as a result. Itʼs very possible.

Either way, the nobles who participated in this banquet were all in a dazed state afterwards the entire time. It was only after the banquet ended that they finally left the Baytrot home while holding an emotion that could be either excitement or nervousness.

As for Sara, she really did stay and move in.

However, this seemed to have Airi upset.

Airi seemed to really want to kick her sister out.

”Even though big sis Sara is obviously such a busy person, why do you still have time to hang around and act childish?”

Airi was questioning.

”I donʼt dare. Anyways, Iʼm not leaving unless little Airi also goes back with me.”

Saras really was acting like she was a spoiled kid.

The sisters just started arguing in the middle of the garden. All the demons to the side like Jacinta, Jace, and Liece could only watch on with bitter smiles.

As for the host of this banquet, Shien was dragged to the side by Lucy and the other royals.

”You really intend on letting her stay at my place?”

Shien also finally got the chance to show his displeasure to Lucy and the others.

If not for the fact that Lucy stopped him, then the would definitely have kicked Sara out just then.

He didnʼt care if sheʼs the head of the demon race or the sovereign of the demon world. He has Airi on his side after all, so Shien simply did not believe that Sara would really dare to cause trouble here.

However, the royal family most definitely did not want any chance of Sara going on a rampage within the Capital.

Therefore, everyone, including Lucy, had a helpless look on their faces.

”Do you really intend on refusing then?” Lia chuckled nervously, ”Thatʼs lady Sara, the leader of the Six Great Demon Lords. If anything were to make her unhappy, then the Capital or even the Kingdom will done for.”

That was everyoneʼs greatest fear.

Even Ancil looked like he was helpless here.

”Lady Sara just wants to take her sister back with her, after all, and sheʼs only staying here for a little while. Thereʼs no need to cause offense for such a minor matter.” Ancil patted Shienʼs back as he spoke in reminiscence, ”Donʼt push it now. Being able to have the sovereign of the demon world stay in your home is an unbelievable honor and source of backing. After the incident today, the Kingdomʼs evaluation of you will definitely be completely overturned.”

At the very least, Ancil himself had overturned his own previous evaluation of Shien.

He had thought that he had already been considering Shien very highly, but he could not have possibly imagined that Shien would bring him such a huge surpise.

Either way, there was just one thing that Ancil really wanted to ask Shien. Just how did Shien end up stealing away… Cough. Gain good relations with the most reclusive of the Six Demon Lords…

Just the fact that Shien has a Demon Lord backing him will make it so that, from now on, the entirety of humanity will have to carefully consider things before trying anything against him.

There are no more Heroes anymore. The highest gods has also secluded herself from the world. Thus, currently, the only ones capable of opposing the Six Great Demon Lords are the Three Great Goddesses in the divine realm. Humanityʼs strength alone is no longer capable of going against the Demon Lords.

For that reason, Ancil himself felt like he too should properly digest the news revealed today. That he should use that time to properly consider just what he should do next, as well as what kind of attitude he should take towards Shien.

As for right this moment, he can only try to first appease Sara.

”Donʼt worry.”

Lucy also spoke up. She focused on Shien as she begun explaining.

”Unlike the extremely reclusive Dragon Demon, Lady Sara is the sovereign of the demon race, the leader of the demon world. She personally deals with practically all matters, large and small alike, within the demon world. Sheʼs even responsible for communications with the gods and mortals as well. The other Demon Lords might either move about as they like or are only responsible for matters within their own territory, but Lady Sara is different. Therefore, thereʼs no way that Lady Sara would have all that much time to waste at your place.”

Thatʼs the truth there.

Rather, given Saraʼs position and how busy she usually is, the fact that sheʼs choosing to stay and temporarily live here is the actual strange part of all this.

Shien had somewhat understood what Lucy was implying.

”Youʼre saying that the matter of the Moon Demon choosing to stay here may very well be her plan form the start?”

Shien had more or less understood the reasoning behind it.

”I think so as well.” Lucy nodded without denying it, ”Based on rumors, Lady Sara is a very capable Demon Lord. She held the greatest trust of Demon King ever since she was born, and she has been helping the Demon King govern the demon race the entire time. When she was directing the battle between demons and gods at the front lines, she had won great victories over and over. She is attributed with a great deal of the credit for the demon race having beaten the gods and mortals so handily.

”Supposedly, Lady Sara also has a pair of unique Eyes of Wisdom. Not only can she see through the constantly shifting situation on the battlefield, it also allows her to see through everything someone might be hiding, making her impossible to trick or be lied to.”

When he heard Lucyʼs words, Shien immediately remembered the feeling of being seen through by Sara back when he first met her.

Those eyes which felt like they could see through all his secrets had indeed made a deep impression on him.

Thus, as one who has such a power and intelligence, thereʼs naturally no way that the sovereign of the demon world would throw a tantrum and stubbornly try to remain here without any reason.

That is, unless this was something that she had planed on doing the whole time.

”In my opinion, Lady Saraʼs reason for coming to the mortal world to find her ladyship the Dragon Demon should originally have been to keep the lady Dragon Demon from being tricked and used by humans. Iʼm thinking that itʼs for that reason that she wants to bring Lady Airi back with her, right?”

Lucy pointed that out.

”But after she saw you, Lady Sara must have discovered something. Thatʼs why she immediately changed her mind.”

Those words were quite convincing.

It was easy to figure out just by thinking about it a little, but given Saraʼs brains, thereʼs no way, after all these years together as sisters, that she would not understand her sister Airiʼs personality, right?

She must have already known how to convince Airi to go back, and she also must have known even better that thereʼs no way that Airi would obediently listen to her and go back to the demon world if Sara just used normal methods.

With that already established, Sara however failed to take Airi away in the end. Instead, it looked like she was pulled into staying with her sister instead?

That doesnʼt make any sense.

Besides, since Sara has such a good understanding over just what kind of person her sister Airi is, she should obviously also know that someone who could make Airi so stubbornly insist on staying to observe cannot possibly be someone normal, right?

In that case, itʼs also only natural that Sara will want to completely unravel that secret.

Shien immediately understood what Lucy was trying to say.

Lucy was trying to say that Shienʼs identity may very well have already been revealed.

After all, Shienʼs max leveled [Appraisal] skill could already discover the truth behind the sealed Holy Sword. If Sara had a pair of Eyes of Wisdom that was even stronger than the max leveled [Appraisal] skill, then she should have been able to discover Shienʼs Holy Sword even through the triple seals on it, right?

In other words then…

”What was seen through was even more than I had thought, huh…?”

Shien immediately turned depressed.

Freaking hell. Why does he feel like his identity as the Hero would end up exposed pretty much every so often?

It is really that hard to hide?

If it really is that hard to hide, then how did all the protagonists in novels keep acting the pig to eat the tiger?

Did they just end up making everyone else idiots and incompetents?

Shien really want to let out a long sigh.

But, at the same time, he also realized the problem.

”This Moon Demon is the sovereign of the demon race, the leader over the entire demon world If she discovered my status as the Hero, then she must already be suspecting whether or not the gods are planning something in secret, right?”

After a thousand years, when the world has already returned to peace, the gods then reactivated the Hero summoning ritual without anyone else knowing and summoned up the Hero. Just what did that mean then?

Could it be that the gods are planning to declare war against the demons?

Sara must already be considering thoughts to that effect.

It was exactly for such reasons that Shein didnʼt want to expose his identity as the Hero.

Otherwise, a single mistake may really end up breaking the peace between the three races.

Lucy might be secretly reminding him of that point.

”Lady Sara is staying because of you, and not her sister. This is a very likely possibility.”

Lucy ignored the surprised expressions on Ancil and Liaʼs face and instead spoke to Shien in a very solemn tone.

”She may still be considering how to deal with the huge and unexpected variable that is yourself. Thatʼs why she wants to first keep you where she can see you. You need to be careful here.”

If he were to do anything too unwise and ended up making Sara consider him as someone harmful to the demon race, then Sara may very well try to remove Shien outright.

This makes her not a big shot who delivered herself to the door for Shien to hide behind, but rather a possibly deadly threat.

”If you refused Lady Sara just now, then Lady Sara may very well have thought that you had some terrible secret that you didnʼt want the demon race to know about. This may very well end up provoking her caution even more.”

Thus, Lucy finally finished expounding on why she stopped Shien.

”Therefore, I believe that itʼs best if you be a bit more cautious and not act too recklessly.”

Hearing all that, Shien was going WTF in his mind even more now.

It feels like heʼs basically inviting someone super important to his home huh?

And heʼs even going to have to treat her with caution?

Like hell!

She came over to monitor him on her own accord, so does he really need to treat her politely?

Thereʼs no way.

”Sara is it? Very good then!”

Have at you then!

…

At this moment, Shien had no idea that there was a similarly secretive conversation between Sara and Airi as well.

”Donʼt go too far, big sis Sara.” Airi spoke as she stared intently at Sara, ”That person is under my protection for the time being, so Iʼd rather big sis Sara not do anything too much.”

Yes, Airi also managed to somewhat see through what her older sister was planning.

Lucy and the others were only fearing Sara, but they didnʼt realize that Airi wasnʼt an idiot either. She wasnʼt nearly so easy to trick.

Just like how Sara would obviously understand Airi, Airi also naturally understood what kind of person this sister of hers is.

Thatʼs why Airi ended up saying such a thing.

Saraʼs eyes flashed imperceptibly.

”My, it looks likes our little Airi really does care a lot about that boy.” Sara showed a smile, ”If that really is the case, itʼs only more imperative for me to carefully observe him and see what kind of person he really is.”

It seems that Sara did no plan on doing any compromising here.

Airi was also merely stating her own position.

”If fine if itʼs just observing.” Airi spoke placidly, ”Bit if big sis Sara tries to do anything, then I donʼt plan on just standing by and watching.”

”… Is that so?” Sara stopped smiling. After going silent for a bit, she spoke gloomily, ”I never thought that a mere human could make you so invested.”

”Heʼs an interesting person, and he really suits my tastes too.” Airi gave Sara a glance before continuing, ”I just want to tell you guys that I can have my own friends as well.”

With those final words, Airi turned about and left.

Thus, only Sara and the silent group with Jacinta and company remained. They could only watch Airiʼs retreating figure, and after a moment, she finally let out a bitter laugh.

”It looks like we really have been too strict with her in the past.”
