Surviving The Fourth Calamity

The relocation of the Righteous Knights to Anmur also affected another group of people.

The Moon Elf Royal Family of Mulan.

Mulan is a great place, surrounded by forests and with a harbor very suitable for large fleets.

If it weren’t for Anmur raising a prince who even Ambori despises, how could that place have been handed over to those Elves?

The three countries nearby are eyeing Mulan, but only because the Anmur Navy is a bit stronger that it holds a slight advantage.

The intentions of the Elves are also obvious... If there is turmoil on the Anmur side, or if they actively attack them, they can naturally press their long swords against the neck of the Anmur Royal Family.

However, the sudden turn of fate caught the Elves, who had chosen to temporarily recuperate, completely off guard. By the time they wanted to advance toward Anmur, they were startled to discover... the Anmur Dark Night Temple within the Snowfall Isle Alliance had expanded their power throughout the entire Anmur Mountain Range.

Though the main purpose of the other party was to uproot the Anmur Royal Family’s Twin Towers, they indeed intercepted all routes for the Elves to enter Anmur.

If they wish to go to Anmur, they’d have to take the sea route.

However, even though the relationship between the Sun Elf Imperial Fleet and the current Mulan Elf King is good, they will not help them in this regard.

Don’t forget, the first in the Snowfall Isle Alliance is the Lord of Agleya.

And in Agleya City, the Elven Guard there is almost entirely descendants of the fleet’s high ranks.

That is to say, maintaining neutrality between the Moon Elf Royal Family and Agleya is already the fairest action by the admirals of the Sun Elf Navy.

The Mulan Elf King cannot make this request... especially when Agleya’s Governor is Lynn, his childhood playmate, who is also the half-elf that his biological mother sacrificed for his sister.

Though the past is seldom mentioned anymore, it is not forgotten by anyone.

Before the Elves could think of a better method to enter Anmur... the Righteous Knights with the Tampas Legion leisurely migrated from all directions of Ferun Great Land.

This situation occurred because the Righteous Knights ceded the land near Supreme Forest to the Elves... without demanding any compensation, simply returning the homeland the Elves abandoned to them.

Tyr even personally covered all relocation costs of the Knight Corps families and apprentices without any contention with the Elves.

At this moment, if the Mulan Elves extend their hand toward Anmur... they would be utterly shameless.

The reason the King of Mulan garners so much support, and even as he led his people to occupy Mulan no one bickered with them, is all owing to the lingering grace of his mother, the Sorrowful Queen.

It could be said that the tragic fate of their Royal Family and the dignified, unyielding character of the Queen maintaining her principles are the reasons the Moonflower Royalty managed so effortlessly after giving up Eternity Island... Everyone knows Coron hunted the Lady of Pain for a long time due to the plight of the Princess of Moonflower.

Everyone understands the implications.

Even though Coron and the Elf Deity System abandoned the Eternity Island Elves, no longer sheltering them, the Moonflower Royalty remains under their wings.

Sometimes, having a strong divine power overhead makes quite a difference.

And in this moment, Mulan, in the region where the Anmur Navy has completely collapsed, amidst the Toril Ocean overrun by Undead giant ships, holds no tempting value for conspirators wanting to risk offending strong divine powers.

Thus, for Coron to return Supreme Forest, once a significant site for divine manifestations and now rare among such locations in Toril, to the Elves is very important for the Moonflower Royal Family under Coron’s protection.

Even if they wouldn’t abandon the newly constructed Mulan to return to Supreme Forest across mountains and waters... given their power, without the help of the Sun Elf Navy Fleet, they couldn’t seize anything better than their place in Mulan... They cannot make antagonistic moves affecting such significant matters.

So, when the Righteous Knights declared their intention to transform the former Anmur into the congregative place for the Snowfall Isle Alliance’s Pantheon followers and proactively left the Supreme Forest, all Mulan Elf plans regarding Anmur could conclude.

Without legitimate reasons, forget about plotting in secret... Who dares to play clandestine games with the Snowfall Isle Alliance!

The Mulan Elves have to whole-heartedly become the ’Mulan Elf Kingdom’.

But they are not left empty-handed.

The originally surrounding giant forests that envelop Mulan have essentially become their domain.

After all, the Snowfall Isle Alliance practically uses the Dark Night Temple’s forces as their boundary line.

And Tethyr, only separated by forest from Mulan, has been playing dead for these past years, firmly locking its forces within its acknowledged territorial scope.

Previously, they could’ve maneuvered between Kalinsan and Anmur, leveraging ample resources to pull some tricks between the two countries.

Now that is absolutely impossible.

Kalinsan may not have as many Snowfall Isle Alliance people... But half the country’s transformation into desert makes agricultural-based Tethyr inherently uninterested.

Moreover, dare they even?

It’s just that the relationship between the heads of the Night Temples in Anmur and Kalinsan is icy, almost oppositional, otherwise, the Tethyr Royal Family has to worry about their necks.

Most importantly, the Tethyr Royal Family is currently chaotic.

Originally, one of their Princesses would, through Kelben’s guidance in blacksmithing, ascend to the Queen’s position, elevating Tethyr from the Sword Bay devastated by the Path of Destiny to prominence.

Then, also leveraging the presence of the Goddess of Agriculture, they swiftly stabilized their dominance.

Even absorbed chaotic Kalinsan into their pocket and commenced strong national competition alongside neighboring Anmur.

But currently, not mentioning whether Kelben has awakened or not... Even if he has, likely he doesn’t have the heart to consider Tethyr anymore.

Therefore, Tethyr could only contract itself as much as possible, absolutely not daring to affect the traffic between Anmur and Kalinsan on the road... This place was once teeming with thieves.

Otherwise, a newly formed nation like Anmur wouldn’t have so easily become a powerful country in Sword Bay.

Only maritime routes can bypass the road that Tethyr is filled with, attempting to stop Anmur and Kalinsan from joining forces against him.

Speaking of Anmur’s strength, it is strong, but only because they have uncovered the relics of the mechanics.

Therefore, their sea vessels are very strong.

There is no need to mention land battles.

Otherwise, it wouldn’t have been so easy for the Undead Tribe to sweep through their entire country.

However, these thief guilds are just tender meat for the Undead Tribe.

They are rushing to attack.

As for Tethyr, it was already not as strong as Anmur, and then lost much of its combat power because the thief guilds were cleaned too thoroughly... Honestly, many people feel they are close to being finished.

Anmur Dark Night Temple and Kalinsan Dark Night Temple have always liked using methods Shaer appreciates to show loyalty.

Palace intrigue is a mode they both excel at.

It’s just that one prefers elevating the Queen or Princess, while the other prefers wiping out the entire Royal Family.

Previously, one would toy with the Amur Royal Family, and the other with the Kalinsan Royal Family, each mocking the other’s insufficiencies.

Now... the only target they can act on is Tethyr, right?

It’s not that there are no ways to stop these two crazy Chosen... but would the Tethyr Royal Family and Nobles dare to invite the Undead Tribe into their country?

The first to do so was the Kingdom of Yinbutu, and initially, they felt satisfied, but what about later?

Ambori lives close to the cliffs outside their Royal Palace!

Moreover, the Undead Tribe really can open Alignment Detection halos!

Which noble would dare say their family is definitely fine?

Even the King of Yinbutu wouldn’t dare.

Speaking of which, the Undead Tribe is not entirely unruly... the cliffs opposite Giant Valley are their primary target, so they rarely enter Yinbutu’s interior regions.

But the river they often use, even nobles dare not approach it!

Commoners are merely timid, not foolish.

They know which places are suitable for living.

Now in Yinbutu, the riverbanks are almost ruled by commoners.

They live there, only needing to pay the lowest Royal Family taxes to own their homes and fields.

No matter how troubled or greedy, nobles do not dare claim that the river is theirs.

The Undead Tribe would truly come to ask them who gave them the authority.

Though the King of Yinbutu isn’t particularly wise, he isn’t stupid enough to back these nobles!

His capable wife and son, who also have good relations with the Undead Tribe, live in the new Royal Palace beneath the cliffs, always prepared to take the throne upon his death!

However, how many commoners can a small country like Yinbutu have?

If the nobles hadn’t finally reacted, their fields might not even have farmers to cultivate them!

Though they could buy slaves... without Anmur, the source of slaves naturally decreased greatly.

The price of slaves has risen considerably, making nobles completely unwilling to use them as expendables.

Now, slaves in Yinbutu live better than past commoners.

The most terrifying thing is, they cannot use illegal slaves... if the Undead Tribe finds out they took commoners as slaves, they would truly be killed.

Even barely legal ones... Heim’s slave ships are gone!

The nobles of Yinbutu have no choice but to improve the treatment of commoners and reduce their taxes.

Many small nobles who relied on exploiting commoners and slaves for a living had to choose to sell their land holdings, left only with a title... Yinbutu is too small, most are estate nobles, and territorial nobles must be at least Earls above.

The plight of Yinbutu’s nobles, one might say, has instilled a profound fear of the Undead Tribe in most kingdoms across Toril.

Yet, they cannot blame the Undead Tribe.

They haven’t interfered with Yinbutu Kingdom’s affairs, nor have they coerced the Royal Family into putting their favored Prince on the throne!

Everything is conducted within the rules, but, simultaneously, nothing is within the rules.
