Surviving The Fourth Calamity

It’s quite normal for Shaer to have no particular feelings towards ’Lu Huayu’... the chosen ones under her command, to put it bluntly, are all of this Chief Steward Lu’s type.

Although their abilities vary, the way they present themselves is pretty much the same.

How can someone not crafty enough possibly endure under her and become a chosen one?

No matter how long one lives or how strong they are, they can’t withstand the backstabbing of colleagues and the airtight surveillance and pressure from the boss.

Especially those who manage to endure to the level of the chosen ones, they are basically similar to Chief Steward Lu who learned his lesson... no, they would behave even more considerately.

It’s just that ’Lu Huayu’ might put in a little bit of true wholeheartedness, while they absolutely would not.

But that is understandable too.

Although Chief Steward Lu lost miserably, he still has a chance to climb back, so he’s not completely in despair.

As for Shaer’s chosen ones, once they fail, they are completely done for.

If ’Lu Huayu’ switched places with them, this more flexible Chief Steward would probably have no qualms about cutting off his emotions.

From his initial behavior, it’s evident that he is quite ambitious, with wolfish ruthlessness to match his ambition.

However, when faced with a harsh reality check, he knows to turn back and make a clear cut with his past.

That’s why he can get along so well with Ambori... even in a deputy position, this person is willing to make his own decisions.

But now he understands what it means to have virtues that don’t match one’s position, and what it means to overextend one’s capabilities.

Therefore, he won’t do things that exceed his actual abilities... and since he still has a bit of conscience, he will give back to those willing to genuinely help him.

Probably due to past experiences, he understands how precious such people are.

But the traits that ’Lu Huayu’ possesses are almost all present in Shaer’s chosen ones.

Except they are even more ruthless.

Therefore, Shaer might admire the more determined, resolute, and strongly yet gently assertive ’Xue Yunfeng’... but then again, for someone like Snow Old Dog, even in his most degenerate times, would never entrust his faith to deities that flirt with the idea of the apocalypse.

According to Hill’s understanding of him, even in the darkness, ’Xue Yunfeng’ will always yearn for the light... it’s a steel will forged within the iron-clad army, of course very precious.

However, Hill might be amazed by ’Lu Huayu’s’ performance, while Shaer is wholeheartedly focused on ’Xue Yunfeng’... it seems that the things one cannot accomplish themselves are more worth paying attention to, right?

Thinking of this, Hill couldn’t help but smile and shake his head.

Then his attention turned to Lansendel: ”Josh... actually also has aspects worth admiring!”

Lansendel slightly opened his mouth, then helplessly closed it again.

Some of the things he told Josh, like ’don’t go against the Undead Tribe’, Josh adhered to.

He adhered well, it’s just... it wasn’t exactly normal.

The ’Perfect Bald’ that’s slipping at every step has almost climbed halfway up the hillside, yet Josh is still standing there silently.

However, is the Undead Tribe someone you can interact with just by staying silent?

If you don’t speak, they’ll just keep talking.

Including those clan leaders and managers, they won’t oppose their own people at a time like this... who are you to expect them to stay quiet as per your thoughts?

Didn’t ’Xue Yunfeng’ also go discuss ’Lu Huayu’s’ goals with others?

Did he really know nothing in advance and had to chat about this now?

He’s just showing that he’s standing with the majority attitude.

For a problem that could be solved with just a spell... you’d rather listen to millions of people mumbling in a folded space, isn’t that just asking for trouble?

In Hill’s Magic Tower, the basic spells are actually very comprehensive.

Like so many people talking together, nearby people won’t be affected by those far away.

Otherwise, no matter how resilient the Undead Tribe is, they wouldn’t be able to continue talking like this.

Josh is just asking for punishment.

If Hill didn’t weaken sensory input in the space he’s in... haha~ the buzzing of millions of people could make him bleed from nine orifices!

Just as Hill said, Josh’s only strength is his persistence!

But he’s way too persistent... if it were a normal person, they would have finished speaking and left long ago.

Regardless of whether he listened or not!

His own Main God doesn’t care about this, why should he substitute dissatisfaction?

But Josh has never been one of The Wise Ones.

No matter what he thinks, even if Lansendel had reminded him beforehand, he wouldn’t act accordingly.

The common afflictions of the youth with delusions, he possesses almost all of them.

”Hill.” Lansendel observed for a while before seriously asking, ”The Magic Array you have in there, it’s not completely locked, right?

Can you give Josh some soul-stirring experience?

I think he’s just living too well, so he completely doesn’t know what he should be doing.”

Children need lessons to grow... for some reason, Hill suddenly remembered this saying.

Then he nodded lightly: ”I can, but... doing it fully? Isn’t that too harsh?”

”If he’s not completely frightened, he’ll just feel like he can endure it.” Lansendel laughed, ”My followers are always steadfast.”

Let’s say this is someone who won’t turn back even after hitting a wall, won’t shed a tear even when they see a coffin... most people wouldn’t call that steadfast.

Hill pressed his lips together and swallowed the words back.

After all, it’s his Main God’s request, Hill certainly can’t understand Josh better than Lansendel.

So he just needs to follow orders.

In the hall, Josh was firmly watching everyone, wanting to give these innumerable heads, even those Lansendel thinks are more challenging than the Dawn Believers, Undead Tribe a memorable start.

He genuinely believes that as long as he persists, the Undead Tribe will eventually understand that only by giving him enough respect can they benefit from him... Upon seeing the compensation Lansendel provided, Josh doesn’t think they are asking the Undead Tribe for help.

Since it’s a fair trade, there should be an attitude of respect towards great Divine Power!

Josh’s view of his Main God deeply makes him believe that Lansendel is just too easygoing, too indifferent to the dignity of the deities, and that’s why he’s so tolerant, not caring about anything.

Josh raised his head high, standing on the platform.

”Buzz!”

A violent roar suddenly erupted near his ear... amidst too many mixed sounds, only the phrase ’a crowing rooster’ clearly reached his ears.

Dead serious Josh suddenly clutched his head and squatted down... his head was about to explode!

”What’s wrong with the guy up there?” As they talked about Chief Steward Lu and Ambori, the family management of the Proud Sky Alliance quickly noticed Josh’s unusual behavior.

Though they didn’t plan on following the obvious intention of this Dawn Elect to domesticate them, everyone was actually observing his performance with a keen eye.

Of course, the fact that they were within Hill’s Magic Tower gave the Undead Tribe absolute confidence... This guy could only talk and use this cold treatment method towards them, he can’t do anything else.

Although Hill rarely interferes in the matters between the Undead Tribe and other deities, there’s no way he’d let the Undead Tribe be oppressed by others within his Magic Tower.

As for whether the East overwhelms the West or the West overwhelms the East, it depends on who can last until the end.

So, the Undead Tribe, including those from other countries, not a single force chose to abandon their own people to collaborate with NPCs.

The world of Aesces also gave these foreign Undead Tribes a painful lesson.

Despite the fun they had with the Moon Clan from another universe in the earlier period, standing with the opposition is always a gamble.

The outcome of losing the bet, though not an entirely bankrupt situation yet... But what’s not completely ruined is the Moon Clan, definitely not the Eden playing so extravagantly on the mainland.

Due to Triton’s considerable concessions, Aesces didn’t pursue them to the end... After all, Triton was indeed invited by their own deities, and its Law was written into Aesces’s Marine Law.

Most importantly, Aesces originally agreed to their deep involvement.

The consequences of one’s actions must naturally be borne by oneself.

Therefore, although the Moon Clan can only squat in the ocean, they at least still have enough authority.

Eden, however, is entirely different.

They dreamt beautifully, so naturally, the outcome became even ’beautiful’.

It’s fair to say that the money invested into this game almost doubled lost... In their home country, getting people to do such troublesome ventures that inevitably require compensation, not providing money is impossible.

Salaries and compensations needed to be clearly stated upfront.

So, after completely crashing, wanting to stop losing money... just the salaries of so many people, even if each only gets a base salary of a few hundred gold is no small sum.

Not to mention, how could a few hundred gold keep people from dying repeatedly with them!

The big young master of Eden finally broke ties with the members of his young master and lady group to get the compensation in place.

After all, these matters were done in his name.

Once he didn’t fulfill that promise, ordinary folks would only go after his family.

To be able to live lavishly in the future, he must resolve this matter well.

But if he were to seek help from the family head for things within the game... Then, could he still have a future?

Someone who competes in the game would have ambitions in real life, wouldn’t they?

So, he could only resolve it by his own methods... The simplest, was to have those ’companions’ who encouraged him to do these things share the burden with him.

Though each didn’t contribute much, it’s still not a little.

In the end, even though breaking ties was the final outcome, the big young master’s ability to make those ’companions’ cough up money wasn’t too shabby at all.
