Summoners War: Only I Summoned Divine Beasts

Chapter 424: Real Issue

A few months ago.

”Suppose I act as if I have been scammed by you? What will happen then?”

”I hope you donʼt feel offended when I say this…”

”Itʼs fine. Iʼll allow it.”

”Your daughter is arrogant and seems to have some anger issues. As such, I believe that tricking her will be easier if I direct her anger toward me, which will make her subconsciously come for me.” Nathan paused for a moment, noticing that the Dragon King didnʼt even twitch. ”You are not mad after I insult your daughter?”

”I have given you my permission. Besides, Iʼm already aware of such a thing. While itʼs true I want her to go to a school to experience youth, I also want her to be humbled. Right now, her ʼfireʼ is blazing. If this continues, she will become too arrogant, and the mistakes she will make due to that arrogance will be huge. On the other hand, if she is humbled in school, the impact shouldnʼt be too big. Even the sage will consider my position and put a stop to it if he hears my daughter is about to make a huge mistake.”

”I see. Thank you for your understanding. Anyway, you will act as if youʼve been scammed by me, she will chase me, and I will fight her in the Summoners War and defeat her. This will make her stay,” explained Nathan.

”Can you really beat my daughter? Even if you can advance rapidly, she is also advancing at a high speed. The gap is not something that you can easily overcome.”

”If Iʼm alone, I wonʼt be able to do it.” Nathan shook his head. He paused for a moment before looking at the Dragon King with a sly smile.

”Ah. You want to get my help?”

”Yes.”

The Dragon King nodded. ”Sure. I will help you if it can help my daughter.”

”Thatʼs great. With your promise, I can make a much bolder plan to ensure success. In that case, weʼll take our leave.”

”Wait.” The Dragon King hesitated for a second before raising his finger. ”My daughterʼs anger issue? She doesnʼt have an anger issue. Itʼs the side effect of the Dragon Martial Arts.”

”Huh?” Nathan tilted his head in confusion.

”If you look at me, do you feel like youʼre staring at a beast?”

Nathan thought for a moment. Since the Dragon King asked, it would be fine to answer him truthfully. ”Yes. A wild beast.”

”My Dragon Martial Arts arenʼt just strengthening your physical body. It is transforming your body into that of a beast. In other words, the beastly aura you can feel in my body originates from this technique.

”However, transforming oneʼs body like that of a beast also means…”

”Your behavior, or more like your subconscious…” Nathan squinted his eyes.

”Yes. She insisted on me teaching her the Dragon Martial Arts when she was so young. As a result, her beastly aura had become uncontrollable. Getting humbled would result in tempering that side effect.”

”Beastly aura, huh? Doesnʼt that mean you both have an instinct similar to a beast?”

”Indeed. You should know the difference between human instinct and beast instinct, right?”

Nathan closed his eyes for a moment. ”I see. I can finally understand what Iʼm supposed to do. Fortunately, thereʼs no need to change our plan for the time being.”

”Alright.” The Beast King smiled. ”Please take care of my daughter.”

…

While recalling that conversation, he was staring at Alavenya.

”What? What do you want? Are we going to start now?” Alavenya asked.

”No. We will start tomorrow. Thereʼs no need to rush. Besides, I doubt there will be an attack.”

”No attack?” Alavenya tilted her head in confusion. ”What are you talking about? Theyʼre trying to steal those items!”

”Yeah. They will steal it.”

”Then—!” Alavenya wanted to say something, but Nathan interjected. ”But they wouldnʼt steal it right away. They would definitely wait until the auction is done and steal from the buyer.”

”Huh? What are you talking about? How are you so sure theyʼll act that way?”

Nathan asked, ”They have stolen a lot of stuff from the lords in this region. Yet, no one is able to capture them. There isnʼt a lot of information about them. In addition, they have been sending the letter before stealing those items, but they havenʼt been caught yet. Donʼt you find it strange?”

Alavenya frowned. ”Are you saying they have an inside help?”

Nathan nodded. ”Most likely. I wonʼt say itʼs an inside help. Theyʼre good at shapeshifting, so thereʼs no saying they donʼt shapeshift into those people and use that to their advantage.”

”!!!” Alavenya widened her eyes in shock. ”Doesnʼt that mean the auction house has been infiltrated as well?”

”Yes.”

”Was that manager…”

”I donʼt know, but I donʼt think she is their ally. I asked Jinwu to monitor the situation, and if the manager actually repositioned the guards, the people who had infiltrated the auction house would have realized that the manager is making preparations against them.

”But once theyʼre about to move, all of a sudden, the manager returns them to their position. What do you think they will think?”

Alavenya gasped. ”Are you saying that they will realize the manager must have noticed them and stop their operation? If they make a move during the auction, they will be the targets of those lords and merchants. A lot of summoners will definitely come and beat them up. Hence, the only safe time to steal them is when the auction has ended.”

”Thatʼs right. Jinwu is nothing but an assurance in case the manager is not the real one.” Nathan nodded.

”But doesnʼt that mean we donʼt have to do a single thing and still complete the reward?”

”Even if Iʼm a bad guy, I still have a bit of morale. If I just take the reward like that, my conscience will be hurt. So, of course, weʼll capture them.”

”But if the auction has ended, doesnʼt that mean our mission has been completed? If thatʼs the case, we donʼt have the obligation to capture them anymore. The only way for us to attack them is during the auction or before it.”

Nathanʼs expression darkened. His voice suddenly turned cold. ”Are you serious?”
