Peerless Divine Doctor

Ling Qingya’s cold eyes swept over Ye Luo, and she said, ”Regardless, you’d better ensure this kind of incident doesn’t happen again, or you can leave the company, and I will also find a way to annul our marriage engagement.”

After leaving Ling Qingya’s office, Ye Luo took a deep breath and felt much lighter. Ling Qingya was indeed a formidable woman; even facing her made him feel a pervasive pressure, especially just now, when his heart was in his throat, fearing that something might go wrong.

”Old man, what kind of mission have you given me?”

Muttering to himself, Ye Luo was filled with complaints about the old man. To marry such a stunning CEO was no easy task, and to take advantage of the situation to obtain everything from the Ling Family was an even more gargantuan mission.

”Ah, a heavy responsibility and a long road ahead. The revolution has not yet succeeded, and I must continue to press on with determination!”

Ye Luo said to himself, a smile appearing on his lips as he regained his devil-may-care expression.

When Ye Luo returned to his own office, Hei Zi burst in suddenly, a look of urgency on his face.

”What’s wrong, Hei Zi?”

Seeing Hei Zi’s demeanor, Ye Luo’s expression shifted, and he quickly asked.

”Vice Chief Ye, I need to take a leave to go to the hospital,” said Hei Zi urgently to Ye Luo.

”What happened? What’s the matter?”

Ye Luo asked immediately.

”Hu Zi’s father’s illness has suddenly worsened; he has now been rushed to the hospital. I want to go check on him,” Hei Zi said, his expression thick with anxiety.

”I see, I’ll go with you.”

Ye Luo said decisively, then took Hei Zi in his car to Zhonghai City People’s Hospital.

Zhonghai City People’s Hospital is the largest in Zhonghai and also the most expensive for medical care.

In a hospital room there, several doctors and nurses were gathered. In front of them on the hospital bed lay a gaunt old man with a pale face, who seemed to be at death’s door. Beside him stood Hu Zi, his face etched with worry, and tears shimmered in his unfailingly dry tiger-like eyes.

”Doctor, you must save my father, please save him,”

Hu Zi pleaded with the attending physicians.

”Your father’s liver cancer has reached a severe stage; a large part of his liver function has deteriorated. Only surgery can prolong your father’s life, but even then, he might not last more than a month,”

a somewhat overweight middle-aged man in a white lab coat said.

”No matter what, I beg you, please save my father, even if it’s just for a month,” Hu Zi said urgently.

”Then go pay the surgery fee quickly, starting with a hundred thousand.”

”What? A hundred thousand?”

Hearing this number, Hu Zi’s face changed, betraying a look of shock.

As Hu Zi had been forcefully discharged from the military, he had no severance pay and in his family, it was just him and his father. The total savings at home amounted to fifty or sixty thousand, which was almost spent on his father’s medical treatment. Where could he possibly find a hundred thousand now?

”Yes, a hundred thousand, and that’s only a part of it. The full surgery will cost at least three hundred thousand,” the plump doctor said solemnly.

Hu Zi’s face underwent several changes. Looking at the doctor, he said fiercely, ”Doctor, I don’t have so much money on me right now. Can you proceed with my father’s surgery first, and then I’ll find a way to raise the money?”

”No way!”

Immediately, the overweight doctor’s face changed and he firmly refused.

”This surgery fee is no small sum. If you don’t pay in full, we won’t operate. If you can’t come up with the money later, do you expect us doctors to pay for you? So without payment, we are resolute in not performing the surgery.”

The overweight doctor said this with determination, seeming utterly heartless.

Thump!

Hu Zi suddenly knelt down and begged with a pleading face, ”Doctor, please show mercy and save my father. I will definitely pay all the surgery fees in full without any delay. My father is almost at his limit, please have mercy and operate on him first.”

”No, it’s hospital policy that you must pay first before we can perform surgery. If you can’t pay, there’s nothing we can do.”

Beep beep beep...

Just then, the heart monitor beside the hospital bed started emitting a series of piercing beeps that sounded exceptionally jarring and urgent in the room, causing everyone, including Hu Zi, to look startled.

”Dr. Sun, the patient is close to dying. Let’s proceed with the surgery first; saving the patient is what’s important.”

At that moment, a young girl in a pink nurse’s uniform, looking demure and cute with a ponytail, spoke timidly.

The girl appeared to be about eighteen or nineteen, with skin smooth as water and a pair of adorable watery eyes, a delicate nose, and cherry lips.

She was around 165 cm tall, but her chest seemed disproportionately large compared to her height, tightly wrapped by the nurse’s uniform. The buttons seemed as if they were about to burst open, revealing a hint of lace underneath, giving off the impression they were about to pop out.

She was absolutely a beauty with both a baby face and a buxom figure.

But when faced with such a beauty, the overweight middle-aged man scolded her unhappily, ”Lin Xiaoyan, am I the head here, or are you? Is it your place to speak?”

Scolded by the middle-aged man in the white lab coat, the beauty with the baby face and buxom body, although her eyes showed a trace of pity, didn’t dare to say anything more.

Beep beep beep...

Following that, the sound of the heart monitor became even more urgent, and then the fluctuating heartbeat lines turned into a flat line; the monitor fell silent.

”Dad!”

Seeing this, Hu Zi’s face was filled with grief and anger; he hugged his father’s body tightly and yelled, tears streaming down his face.

Although the several doctors and nurses present felt some pity, none of them said anything—after all, the person with the most authority there was still the overweight middle-aged man.

He was not only the head of the department but also the hospital director’s brother-in-law, and because of this relationship, there weren’t many people in the hospital who dared to contradict him.

”Now that he’s dead, just call to have him taken away right away so as not to tarnish the hospital’s reputation!”

The overweight middle-aged man said bluntly.

”It’s you, all of you who killed my father!”

Suddenly, Hu Zi’s eyes filled with bloody red color, looking furiously and fiercely at the overweight middle-aged man.

”What are you going to do? It’s your own fault for not having money for the surgery fee. What does that have to do with us?” the middle-aged man responded coldly with a snort.
