One-Eyed Monster

Kayne Realm, Xinbal, King’s Council Hall.

Harry Kayne lay in the chair, frowning. The people present were constantly arguing, and it seemed impossible to reach a consensus on the topic being discussed this time.

This King’s Council Hall meeting was significantly different, as not only were the usual faces participating, but also some new faces, or rather new phenomena.

Princess Juliette’s plants also joined the discussion in the council hall this time. These plants played a crucial role at this moment, surprisingly capable of communicating remotely!

And Igor, a commoner, was also in the King’s Council Hall at this moment. He did not join the quarrel but instead looked curiously at these plants…

As the king of the Kayne Empire, Harry Kayne did not interfere with his ministers’ arguments because he knew that if they did not argue at this moment, it would be abnormal.

The Kayne Empire spent three days purging all remnants of the Alchemy Workshops. Those small organizations that once relied on the Alchemy Workshops to wield power and bully were swiftly cleared out by the Dark Cabinet and Wizard Alliance.

When Harry Kayne struck that bell, the Kayne Empire came back to life.

Everyone in the Kayne Empire was invigorated. Though no one could truly understand where this power came from, everyone knew such power was reassuring.

Harry Kayne then issued an order, announcing to the entire empire that the previously appointed King’s Hand was nullified. For the first time in the history of the Kayne Empire, a king repealed his own decree.

This event was recorded by scholars, but what scholars hadn’t anticipated was that this young King of Kayne was going to create even more astonishing events.

For the first time, a commoner could enter the King’s Council Hall, his reason being he saved the Blue Blood League Guards…

Also, for the first time, the outer capital cities didn’t need to go to Xinbal for the council. Luona, Bistal City, North Shore didn’t need to go to Xinbal.

These unprecedented moves made historians wipe their foreheads as they wrote, clearly recognizing how rare this was.

Yet these changes only made scholars wipe their foreheads, not drop their jaws.

What truly stunned the scholars was that Prince Charles of the Kayne Royal Family was in fact a Cabinet Elder of the Dark Cabinet.

This revelation made scholars so startled they dropped their pens, as they found it bewildering and hard to accept.

The various great organizations were equally shocked, never having imagined the usually light-hearted Prince Charles was a Cabinet Elder of the Dark Cabinet…

Prince Charles had hidden this very deeply indeed.

Now Prince Charles, Princess Juliette, Secretary Benjamin, Will Kangen, Chairman Louis of the Wizard Alliance, and others—everyone in Xinbal capable of making a point was engaged in heated discussion in the council hall.

The discussion mainly focused on the response strategy.

Some advocated for defense, like the Wizard Alliance and North Shore, believing that if others didn’t make a move, neither should they. Acting too hastily would reveal their strength, increasing casualties.

But there were also voices for offense, believing they must strike the enemy unexpectedly, as letting the opponent prepare would only put them at a disadvantage.

”The problem now is, we aren’t sure if the opponent is in those two empires. If we attack, it means declaring war!” Secretary Benjamin said. He wasn’t a coward; he just considered things more forwardly.

”Whether it’s the Wensi Empire or the Mantai Empire, strange changes have occurred, clearly the work of the Soul Devourer. Since we’ve identified this enemy, we can’t stand idly by!” General Bisley said loudly. His Guardian Army was itching to move, mainly because they’ve long endured harassment from these two empires, itching for revenge.

”Blind action is equivalent to suicide!” Chairman Louis was very cautious about this issue.

”We can arrange for Hunters to cooperate, making it more secure.” Will Kangen suggested.

Everyone expressed their opinions, thinking this was a great opportunity.

Harry Kayne remained silent, watching everything. He had his own considerations.

Princess Juliette couldn’t stay long. She listened a bit and then left, being pregnant and unsuited to standing there too long.

Prince Charles, taciturnly, watched quietly, seemingly confident about the impending events.

Igor remained silent, his attention focused on the plants, amazed that the plants could convey Governor Rostov of Luona’s words…

”Those few over there, what’s your stance? Speak up!” Secretary Benjamin shouted, for indeed, the plants hadn’t said much.

”I think…” Crackle, the plant opened its leaves, emitting a voice familiar to Igor; it was Luona, it was Governor Rostov.

”I think we should prevent problems before they arise, opting for a proactive strike when the situation looks dire.”

Rostov’s response was somewhat non-committal, but such an approach might easily offend people.

However, this time, Rostov’s suggestion gained much agreement from everyone.

Lord Popovich was the first to express support, with his voice emerging from the plants as well.

”I agree with Luona’s approach. Bistal is always ready to fight, even now we could go into battle.”

”North Shore as well.”

”So is the Kangen Family.”

”Count in the Wizard Alliance as well…”

Curiously, those who were arguing suddenly reached an agreement.

The key was that they didn’t really reach a conclusion, just impressively uttered a slogan.

Harry Kayne at this moment stood up from his chair, causing everyone present to move along with him.

”Have you reached an agreement, attack or defend?” The king began questioning.

”This…” Secretary Benjamin didn’t know how to answer, as they hadn’t reached a consensus in thought, only shown unity.

”Hmm?” Harry Kayne started to survey the room, scanning from the head of the Kangen Family one by one, stopping his gaze upon reaching Igor.

Igor felt a bit self-conscious, thinking the king wanted him to speak, so he started scratching his head, then gave a silly smile.

”I think we should attack!”

As soon as these words were spoken, a chill ran down everyone’s back in the council hall.

This is indeed the audacity of youth, fearlessly ignorant…
