One-Eyed Monster

Milo’s canoe slowly made its way towards that small island.

The trees guided Milo’s direction, preventing him from getting lost at a time like this.

The sound of water splashing grew louder, the current continuously pushing the canoe forward, and after some paddling, Milo gradually approached the small island.

The trees were still emitting a gentle gurgling sound, not loud, yet it naturally reached one’s ears.

These sounds helped Milo find his way, bringing him closer and closer to the island.

As he neared the island, another sound could be heard.

Splish—splash—

Obviously, it was someone splashing water somewhere.

Upon hearing this sound, Milo knew that Kadi was swimming in the water again.

Following the sound, Milo paddled the boat over, and soon he saw a blue figure darting back and forth in the lake.

”Ahem!” Milo coughed twice, employing a special way to make these coughs resonate through the water, allowing Kadi to hear it quickly.

Kadi turned around, kicking the water continuously to keep himself afloat.

”Why are you here again, what’s so good about this place, if you can leave, you shouldn’t come back.” Kadi didn’t appear particularly cheerful upon seeing Milo, but he wasn’t too displeased either. After all, Milo was there to talk to him; if this guy didn’t come, he’d have to talk to himself. Speaking less and less over time, he’d gradually lose his language ability, and he didn’t want to lose that.

”Are you still tirelessly trying to swim out?” Milo also let the canoe remain stationary on the lake surface.

”Of course, I won’t give up.” Kadi didn’t mince words, he and Milo were well acquainted, and there was no need for beating around the bush.

”It’s a pity, this lake is so vast that an ordinary person, no, even a superhuman, wouldn’t be able to swim out of here!” Milo chuckled; he appreciated Kadi’s persistence.

”You have to believe, anything is possible!” With a splash, Kadi slapped the water, creating a spray of droplets.

”Let’s not talk about that for now, I brought you some new spices!” Milo took out a small bottle from his pocket.

Kadi beamed widely at that, even though the island was rich in resources, the flavors were indeed a bit monotonous for a gourmet—it was still quite dull.

Back on Guru Mountain, Kadi had been a culinary master, once amazing Igor with just the ingredients from Guru Mountain... Later, after getting to know Igor, he came into contact with seasoning, and since then, his passion for cooking was unstoppable.

When he first arrived on this island and ate grilled fish, Kadi found the fish too fishy and tasteless.

Then Milo gave him a bit of salt, and voila, the delicious taste of the fish emerged...

It could be said that Milo also admired Kadi’s cooking skills, so every time he went out, Milo would bring a lot of seasonings; eating some game on this island was indeed quite comfortable, and Milo appreciated this kind of life.

Kadi and Milo soon reached the island, and after securing the canoe, they began to busy themselves, as it was already noon and hunger had set in.

This time, Kadi caught a wild chicken, along with some fish and shrimp from the lake, and picked some wild fruits—indeed, the ingredients were abundant.

Milo and Kadi set up a stand, lit a fire, and started making lunch.

Grilled chicken, a pot of fish soup, and cooked shrimp with wild fruits made for a sumptuous lunch.

With Milo’s spices and Kadi’s cooking techniques, the aroma spread far and wide, even enticing the singing birds and wild animals.

The grilled chicken sizzled, as the sound of oil dripped onto the flames, and that pot of fish soup had been babbling for quite a while, the fragrance making Milo swallow a few times.

Seeing the fire was just right, Kadi took the two grilled chickens down and placed them on two large leaves, and the hot chickens immediately emitted a fresh scent from the leaves.

The fragrance captivated Milo completely. He couldn’t fathom how Kadi mastered such culinary skills, the combination of grilled chicken and leaves producing such an irresistible aroma...

Kadi used two green banana leaves, which were large and similar to lotus leaves, but had a unique freshness, negating the original greasiness of the grilled chicken and making the aroma even more charming.

After handing Milo the grilled chicken, Kadi went on to fiddle with the fish soup.

Milo could hardly wait; he tore off a piece of grilled chicken and put it in his mouth, the aroma overflowing, his taste buds immediately overtaken by the freshness, and then his tongue suddenly savored an unparalleled taste, it was the inherent deliciousness of the chicken.

Milo chewed the chicken, unable to help closing his eyes; this was a rare treat.

Before Milo could even return from this delight, Kadi’s fish soup was placed in front of him.

This fragrance was an irresistible force, and Milo instantly surrendered.

After a hearty meal, Kadi and Milo leaned against a big tree to rest, still holding some wild fruits in their hands.

Having some fruit after a feast is definitely a good choice, and Milo felt like he was in heaven at that moment, the fatigue from paddling the canoe vanishing instantly.

Kadi burped and then took a bite of wild fruit, turning his head: ”It would have been nice to have a Rum Fruit just now; having grilled chicken with Rum Fruit juice is pretty awesome.”

”Fine wine paired with good food, that’s indeed a wonderful choice!” Milo agreed with him.

”Next time you come, bring some Rum Fruit.”

”Hehehe, not likely since this isn’t the Kayne Realm...” Upon mentioning the Kayne Realm, a touch of sadness crept into Milo’s voice.

Kadi could tell it was an attachment and a dilemma.

Regarding Milo’s actions, Kadi more or less had an idea; these matters made Kadi realize that Milo perhaps didn’t fully understand Kuyi Tulan’s true intentions.

Moreover, Kadi felt that Milo wasn’t a bad person, totally different from Kuyi Tulan.

But Milo’s choice to follow Kuyi Tulan was difficult for him to comprehend.

Anyway, Kadi did quite like this fellow Milo.

”What’s so hard about getting a couple of Rum Fruits? You take me out, and I’ll get some for you,” Kadi said, the topic of Rum Fruit continuing, as they hadn’t finished discussing it. So the discussion about Rum Fruit continued.

”Hehe, it seems you’re trying every way to leave here!” Milo laughed after hearing Kadi’s words, realizing this guy was still thinking about escaping!
