Chapter 195: The Time Has Come to Verify the Sharingan Mystery

Founding a nation?

Shisui stared at the man in front of him, stunned. Kenichi was not that old, yet when he spread his arms like he was about to embrace the whole world, the sight felt less like confidence and more like a madman announcing a dream to the sky.

This guy actually wanted to establish a country.

Or... had Shisui misunderstood what Kenichi meant by nation building?

”If you divide up half of a small place like the Land of Rice Fields...” Shisui licked his lips, uneasy. The Land of Rice Fields sat right next to the Land of Fire. That was practically hopping on Konoha’s bottom line and then doing a little dance.

”Huh?” Kenichi looked at him like he had asked something bizarre. ”Who said anything about a small country? I said I want every country on this continent to become one country. That’s what I mean by building a nation.”

To Kenichi, what was the point of carving out some tiny new domain? If he really wanted to play daimyo, he could go to a poor place like the Land of Waves and live out a strategy game fantasy.

More importantly, if he truly wanted to drag the ninja world into an interstellar era, then unifying the world was essential.

After the collapse of that once mighty nation in his old world, the shipyards could no longer build aircraft carriers. Why? Because the supporting structure vanished. Departments, factories, skilled workers, supply lines, everything that made heavy industry possible.

Technology did not advance on passion alone. If you wanted to manufacture complex products, you needed a complete industrial chain, and enough materials and people to feed it.

Kenichi could not build a spaceship by hand. That would be ridiculous.

Even a car required the coordination of countless factories. If one person tried to hand craft a bicycle from scratch, they would be lucky to make a crude version. Without the knowledge and tools, they should not even dream about it.

Shisui fell silent, slightly dazed.

He was now absolutely certain the man in front of him was insane.

Unify every country into one? Was that even possible?

No. It was impossible.

Shisui had fought wars. He had seen the filth, the hatred, the grudges piled up between nations. Expecting people to put that aside was a fantasy.

Just setting everything else aside, Hidden Cloud and Konoha had fought not long ago. If you wanted them to cooperate, you would have to convince the villagers who had lost families in the war. That was not difficult. It was nearly impossible.

Three Shinobi World Wars, countless smaller conflicts, blood feuds stacked on blood feuds. Hatred brewed like wine, and it watered the seeds of the next war.

Shisui saw it clearly. Another Shinobi World War was not far off. It was bound to happen sooner or later.

”Of course, not now.” Kenichi patted Shisui on the shoulder, calm as if he had merely said he wanted to renovate a house. ”I still need to accumulate experience.”

He knew it sounded crazy.

But he also believed it would eventually become reality.

Only that could bring peace to the ninja world. A local peace, limited to this world.

Even then, new wars could still break out in the future. The universe was vast, and the Otsutsuki had been planting those trees across worlds. New intelligent species could appear. And as long as intelligent, complex beings existed, conflicts of interest would follow.

That part was almost unavoidable.

”All countries become one...” Shisui looked at Kenichi with complicated eyes. He could not stop thinking about the people he had killed on the battlefield. He had ended many Hidden Cloud shinobi with his own hands.

If those shinobi became citizens of the same nation as him, or even lived in the same town, could he really sleep at night? He did not know whether the families of the dead would come hunting for revenge.

Kenichi changed the subject with unsettling ease.

”By the way, Shisui, I need some of your blood. I have something I want to study.”

Shisui did not hesitate. He grabbed a kunai and pierced his palm. Blood immediately ran down.

Kenichi’s expression twitched, half amused, half exasperated.

Did he need to donate a river? A small sample was enough. Genetic analysis did not require that much blood.

Still, Kenichi quickly drew what he needed, then turned his attention to the two brothers nearby.

Itachi and Sasuke.

Both would awaken the Mangekyo Sharingan in the future.

Should he take theirs as well?

”You want Itachi and Sasuke’s too?” Shisui raised an eyebrow, suspicion flaring. ”Is my blood not enough?”

Kenichi’s earlier excitement had shown for a moment, and Shisui’s mind went to the worst place.

Kenichi’s mouth twitched as he realized what Shisui was thinking.

”Aren’t those two the clan head’s children? I want to see whether their physiques differ from the clan head’s line.” Kenichi’s eyes sharpened with the hunger of a researcher, not anything else. ”It’s Itachi and Sasuke. Their potential is too valuable to ignore.”

Shisui’s expression hardened, anger flashing.

”Listen carefully. If you dare lay a hand on Itachi and Sasuke, I will definitely...”

He was genuinely considering using Kotoamatsukami to forcibly correct this man’s mindset if it came to that.

Kenichi lifted both hands in surrender, wry.

”What are you imagining?” he said. ”I just want you to use this to draw a little of their blood.”

He produced a small blood collection device and held it out.

Kenichi was not a pervert. He was not interested in the brothers for any reason outside of research. Blood samples were all he wanted.

Because Kenichi truly did want to know why Itachi and Sasuke could awaken the Mangekyo Sharingan, while so few other Uchiha ever reached that level.

To Kenichi, it looked like a bloodline issue.

He had heard from his teacher that the Uchiha had once been terrifying. Back when Konoha was founded, many Uchiha awakened three tomoe. Some even awakened the Mangekyo Sharingan.

Now, three tomoe was considered exceptional.

And the Mangekyo had become a legend.

The decline was rapid, and it was hard to ignore.

As for how his teacher knew, it was simple. The Third Hokage had grown old. He reminisced more and more, and Orochimaru overheard more than he should have.

In Kenichi’s view, the most likely cause was dilution. As the clan expanded, many members lost genes that might have been critical to awakening higher levels of the Sharingan.

Whether that theory was correct still needed proof.

Shisui exhaled, the tension easing from his shoulders.

”Fine.” He took the device from Kenichi and walked toward the brothers.

Both Itachi and Sasuke trusted Shisui. Sasuke’s emotions were still unstable, but that was expected. He was a child who had just been torn away from everything familiar.

Soon, Shisui returned and placed two filled devices into Kenichi’s hands.

Kenichi secured them carefully alongside the sample from Shisui.

”What exactly do you want to do with our blood?” Shisui asked, unable to hide his curiosity. He knew blood types and the basics from Konoha Hospital, but anything deeper than that was beyond him.

”Something that will matter a great deal to the Uchiha,” Kenichi said with a small smile.

If his research progressed, the Uchiha could undergo a dramatic change.

Shisui clenched his fist, curiosity growing sharper. But Kenichi clearly had no intention of explaining more right now, so Shisui could only follow him further inside.

By then, the other Uchiha had started to notice Kenichi, the masked man moving with Shisui.

If it were not for the clear three tomoe Sharingan in Kenichi’s eyes, many of them would have already grown restless.

Kenichi did not bother explaining. There were too many Uchiha present, and the airship was still in the sky. If trouble broke out up here, it would become a mess.

So he left it to Shisui to smooth things over.

In Kenichi’s eyes, Shisui could even serve as the Uchiha’s leader.

In the distant future, the concept of family would fade anyway. As technology advanced and travel became easier, blood ties would not carry the same weight.

If they truly entered an interstellar era, people would split into countless small families scattered across worlds. After a few generations, someone born on one planet might not even know they once had an uncle on another.

Kenichi was not worried about long term internal problems.

Before nightfall, the airship reached the Land of Rice Fields.

The ninja world looked huge on maps, but in truth, it was not that vast. That was why conflicts always circled back to the same five great villages.

Kenichi handed the immediate settlement work to Shisui.

”Set up a small village around here first,” he said. ”And for now, don’t wear Uchiha clothing.”

The Land of Rice Fields was not the best choice, but if they went too far, buying supplies and taking missions would become inconvenient. Staying here for a while made sense.

Once the Zero Tails grew a bit more, the Uchiha could move into the sky.

Of course, not anywhere near Kenichi’s laboratory.

After giving those instructions, Kenichi left in a hurry and headed toward his teacher’s laboratory.

He carried three vials of blood, and once he arrived, he moved quickly downstairs.

The lab was dark. The lights were off, and his teacher was nowhere to be seen.

Kenichi casually turned on a light and went straight to the room with the gene separation equipment. He set the vials down and began preparations to separate the genes of Shisui, Itachi, and Sasuke.

But as he worked, his frown deepened.

”Where did my teacher go?” he muttered, scanning the empty rooms. ”And Shiori isn’t here either.”

There were no notes. No letter. Nothing left behind.

Kenichi clicked his tongue.

”Forget it.” His eyes brightened with anticipation as he focused on the equipment. ”First, let me see whether the genes of Shisui, Itachi, and Sasuke really match what I suspect. If they do, then...”

He rubbed his hands together, excitement rising as the machines began their work.
