Chapter 193: Tobi, You Do Not Want Your Public Image to Collapse, Do You?

”Do not worry, Senior Kenichi! Leave this problem to me, Tobi!”

Obito patted his chest loudly. But the moment his eyes flicked to the video camera in Kenichi’s hands, he nearly lost control.

I should never have built a persona that worships Kenichi.

Look at this disaster.

He had created ”Tobi” as an idiot fanboy to get close, to probe, to investigate the missing Sharingan. Instead, Kenichi had grabbed that weakness and started yanking him around like a puppet.

All Kenichi had to say was, ”Tobi, you admire me so much. You would not refuse your idol’s request, would you?”

Obito had been completely stunned.

And because refusing would raise suspicion and risk exposing his identity, he could only grit his teeth and accept it. If Kenichi were not strong, Obito would have already attacked him.

But he could not expose himself now.

If he did, there would be no world where Rin existed.

Obito took a long, deep breath, forcing his emotions down. He had to suppress the anger boiling in his chest, or he feared he would snap and start fighting Kenichi on the spot.

Black Zetsu wanted to roll his eyes.

Obito was an idiot.

Not only had they failed to accomplish what they came for, they had dragged themselves into a new mess and even pulled Zetsu into it.

Annoying.

”Kenichi,” Black Zetsu stepped forward and asked, ”what are you planning to do to Konoha?”

It was not something Obito could ask easily without risking his act, but Zetsu could ask it without worrying about exposure.

Kenichi smiled lightly. ”Of course, I am here to collect some experimental materials. Look at my beautiful eyes.”

As he spoke, Kenichi activated his Sharingan. Three tomoe spun clearly in his gaze.

Obito froze.

His focus sharpened instantly, but just as quickly, he realized something was off.

The Sharingan in Kenichi’s eye was not his.

It was another three tomoe Sharingan.

Could it be him?

Obito’s mind turned cold.

After noticing something wrong with Kakashi’s eye, Obito had begun investigating. The more he looked, the more his suspicion had drifted toward Kenichi.

Kakashi and Kenichi were close. Kakashi himself had not seemed to notice anything strange, which meant whoever did it had acted quietly, without Kakashi realizing.

Kenichi fit that profile perfectly.

On top of that, Kenichi was Orochimaru’s student. He had studied the Sharingan. He knew transplantation. It would not be surprising if he had targeted Kakashi’s Sharingan.

But now, seeing it with his own eyes, Obito could tell the Sharingan Kenichi showed was not his.

For a moment, Obito was genuinely bewildered.

If it was not Kenichi, then who?

A name surfaced almost immediately.

Danzo.

Obito had learned enough about Konoha to know Danzo coveted Uchiha power like a starving man staring at meat.

But what if it was not Danzo either?

Danzo had seemed strangely normal lately. Obito had even tested contact under a different identity and had not noticed anything obvious.

Kenichi looked toward Obito, then continued speaking, as if bragging casually.

”Let me tell you. My goal this time is to collect some Sharingan for research. Once I have results, everyone will be able to obtain Sharingan.”

Obito did not say a word.

Kenichi was doing this on purpose. He was letting Obito see the three tomoe clearly, letting Obito confirm it was not his, and quietly cutting off the suspicion before it could grow into something troublesome.

Black Zetsu also saw the Sharingan in Kenichi’s eye. Then it glanced at Obito beside it.

Even with a mask on, Zetsu could tell Obito’s mood was not stable.

Kenichi patted Obito’s shoulder. ”I will leave it to you, Tobi.”

Then he turned and left.

Obito forced himself to cheer in an exaggerated voice, waving him off like a loyal fan.

After Kenichi disappeared, Black Zetsu made sure he had truly left and had not planted spies nearby.

Only then did Zetsu look at Obito.

Obito was silent for a long time, deep in thought. With only Zetsu here, he no longer needed to act like a fool.

”Not him?” Black Zetsu’s voice carried a cold amusement. Obito’s performance earlier had been flawless. He had acted like a complete idiot.

”...He showed a Sharingan, but it was not my eye,” Obito said, his voice low and grim. ”Still, I cannot be completely certain.”

He had assumed it was Kenichi, but this new detail made everything murkier.

So who else could it be?

Obito felt he needed more proof.

The best method was simple.

He needed to check whether anything had appeared in the Kamui dimension. If something extra was there, it would confirm the missing eye had been used.

Black Zetsu thought of the ”favor” Kenichi had demanded and clicked its tongue inwardly. ”Are you really going to help him?”

Obito curled his lip. ”Help? That guy is irritating.”

His ”Tobi” persona was supposed to be useful. After joining the Akatsuki, he had acted like someone who admired Kenichi deeply. That act came from learning that Kenichi was the Heavenly Demon and using that admiration to get close.

He even leaned into the comedic angle to lower suspicion.

Who would have thought it would backfire so badly?

Not only had it failed to help him get closer to Kenichi, Kenichi had turned it into a leash. He even pulled out a video camera.

Obito could not understand what Kenichi was thinking. No wonder Nagato disliked him.

And now, Obito realized he did not like Kenichi either.

Kenichi, meanwhile, had no idea Obito was cursing him.

Even if he did know, he would not care. Obito could curse all he wanted. In the end, Obito would still have to help, unless he was willing to abandon the Tobi persona completely.

But Tobi had appeared early in this world already. Kenichi could see the timeline shifting.

Just like Hidan. Not only had Hidan not joined the Akatsuki yet, he probably never would.

The so called immortal duo was already broken. So it was not surprising that Tobi showed up early too.

Kenichi dashed through the forest, his thoughts steady.

”Obito will start causing trouble. I will meet them on the outskirts of the Uchiha district, then I will take the Uchiha away quickly by airship.”

The plan was simple.

Obito and Black Zetsu would stir chaos at the main gate to draw Konoha’s attention. While the village focused on the disturbance, Kenichi could help Shisui move the Uchiha out.

After all, even though the Uchiha were a powerful bloodline clan, there were still ordinary people among them who could not use ninjutsu. Shisui could not escort that many people to the Valley of the End without being discovered.

And on top of that, providing ”help” would improve Kenichi’s public image, making future moves far more convenient.

When Kenichi reached the barrier near the Uchiha district, a massive cloud of dust suddenly rose from the direction of Konoha’s main gate.

”Obito moves fast,” Kenichi said, clapping his hands once.

Four towering earthen walls rose instantly, taller than Konoha’s own walls.

At the same time, Kenichi used a Summoning Jutsu.

His hidden airship appeared inside the cover of those earthen walls, shielded from direct sight.

Lightning like patterns flickered around Kenichi’s eyes as he prepared for the next step.

The sudden rise of the earthen walls would draw attention from both Konoha and the Uchiha.

As long as Shisui was not blind, he would see it. And if he was not stupid, he would understand exactly who had set it up.

Sure enough, chaos erupted inside Konoha almost immediately.

Shouts rang out.

A series of fireballs slammed into the defensive barrier. Then a group of shinobi surged toward this area from within the village.

”As expected,” Kenichi muttered, watching it unfold. ”Even the strongest barrier cannot stop destruction from the inside.”

He glanced at the sky.

No dark clouds. He could create cumulonimbus clouds himself to form the conditions for a Thunder Dragon, but that was too troublesome. Those clouds were not easily made. They required a massive amount of water vapor.

”Get in,” Kenichi said.

The Uchiha leading the group was not Shisui. It was someone Kenichi did not recognize.

Kenichi was already wearing a mask. He only waved them forward.

But the leader hesitated.

That hesitation vanished the moment Shisui appeared at the rear and spotted Kenichi.

”How do we leave?” Shisui asked sharply, anxiety clear in his voice.

Even with chaos at the main gate, the earthen walls here had still pulled the attention of many Konoha shinobi, and Root as well.

”Just go in,” Kenichi replied, pointing behind him.

As he did, he noticed two familiar faces among the Uchiha.

Itachi and Sasuke.

Itachi looked calm, as if this was only another mission.

Sasuke, on the other hand, looked panicked.

That was not surprising. Sasuke was still young. He was not the future avenger who lived only for revenge.

Kenichi said nothing more. He formed hand seals and created several shadow clones.

They surged outward to block the approaching pursuers.

At the same time, Kenichi and Shisui guided the Uchiha toward the airship.

Many people stared at the huge structure in confusion, but at a moment like this, no one had time to ask what it was.

”Hurry,” Kenichi urged, narrowing his eyes.

One of his shadow clones had just been destroyed.

There were not many people in Konoha capable of doing that so quickly.

With the memories flooding back to him, Kenichi already knew who it was.

Hiruzen Sarutobi.

For some reason, the old man was coming straight here.

Kenichi accelerated, throwing Uchiha shinobi into the airship one after another.

Then, ahead, he saw a familiar figure cutting through the chaos.

Hiruzen had arrived.
