Chapter 254: Fate Stone

Ethan was observing the spaceship when he overheard the conversation taking place inside.

”Where do you think the anomaly is? Is he an intruder who came from outside the reality, or is he someone born with anomalous luck?”

”Don’t know. But the cause must be eliminated. The prime reality is in a difficult position now.

The monstrosity might be unleashed at any moment. The earth is in great danger. The dark dimension wants to release that beast.

The ruler of the dark dimension has been waiting for so long to enter our dimension. If he could somehow destroy the earth, the entire third dimension would plunge into chaos, which would give him the chance to break through into our dimension.

This anomaly, I am afraid, probably has something to do with him.”

Ethan was speechless. The upper echelons of the prime reality suspected that he was a pawn of the dark dimensional ruler. Though his system had warned him before, he was still enjoying this game of hide and seek.

While he was listening to their conversation from three thousand light years away, a pesky demon tried to bite him from behind.

Ethan cut down the monster with a single swing.

The night ended along with the hunt. They were now all official demon slayers who had passed the test.

Surprisingly, those five cosplayers were very skilled. Ethan had been observing them. The boy cosplaying Tanjiro was a fire-elemental demon slayer. Zenitsu was a lightning-breathing demon slayer. Inosuke was earth-breathing. Kanao was wind-breathing. Nezuko was water-breathing.

Together, they had killed hundreds of monsters through flawless teamwork.

When they came out of the forest, Ryo and three other Hashiras were already waiting outside. As soon as they appeared, Ryo walked toward them with a big smile.

”You all have done well. Especially Nezuko, she was very proficient with her breathing form.”

Then his eyes shifted to Ethan, and he sighed. ”You have tremendous potential, boy. Why are you so unmotivated? You could have done far better than this. I could see how easy this was for you.”

Ethan gave him a light smile and asked, ”Have I passed or not?”

”Of course you have passed.”

”Then it is okay for me.”

Ryo nodded. ”Alright, from now on you will be provided with missions. You will travel all over Japan to vanquish demons. But remember, your phone contains information about the twenty Generals of Michael. If you ever encounter one, you must run as fast as possible. Each one of them is as strong as a Hashira.”

Everyone nodded.

Ethan bid farewell and returned to his room.

As soon as he entered, a knock came at the door.

Anna was calling him for breakfast. After eating, as part of his usual routine, Ethan took Erina to practice demon slayer breathing forms. Then they would return to school and finally go home.

In this way, five days passed.

Ethan glanced at his status panel.

He could now shatter a Chaos Verse into nothingness with just a punch.

A tier 18 life form possessed one hundred thousand Chaos Verse level power.

Ethan was sitting on his bed when a message appeared on his phone. A mission had been assigned to him. He was to act as a bodyguard for a wealthy person attending an international meeting.

Ethan accepted the mission. But before leaving, he decided to break through to level five of the Black Hole Realm.

Boom!

He succeeded. His power increased fivefold.

After that, Ethan left a clone in his house and vanished.

He appeared in a park where Ryo was supposed to meet him and escort him to the client.

Ethan looked at Ryo and asked, ”Tell me, is the Demon Slayer Association so poor that it has to do bodyguard work? How pathetic.”

Ryo snorted coldly. ”Don’t talk nonsense, boy. We need a lot of money to run the Association. Where do you think that money comes from? From your ass?”

Ethan did not argue.

”So, who is the client?”

”He will arrive in five minutes. He is an arms dealer on his way to an international conference. Your job is to ensure his safety. There will be other demon slayers present, maybe even cultivators.”

”Okay.”

After five minutes, a helicopter arrived overhead and landed. Two men in black suits stepped out, followed by a young man about Ethan’s age.

Ethan scanned him. He was just a normal human.

The young man smiled. ”Hello Mr. Ryo. My father apologizes for not being able to come personally and for sending me instead. He had urgent matters to attend.”

Then his eyes fell on Ethan. ”This must be the man you mentioned.”

Ryo smiled politely. ”Don’t worry. Yes, he is the one. He is an exceptional young man. Your safety is guaranteed with him.”

Ryo then shot Ethan a look that was not really a smile. ”Please behave, boy. He is an important client.”

Ethan gave him a thumbs up. ”You don’t need to worry about a thing. Leave everything to me.”

”That is exactly what I am afraid of,” Ryo muttered under his breath.

Ethan extended his hand. ”Hello, I am Ethan Hunt. It is nice to meet you. Shall we go?”

The young man shook his hand. ”I am Dave Johnson. Let’s go, Mr. Hunt.”

Ethan entered the helicopter, and it took off.

Ryo muttered to himself, ”I hope everything turns out fine.”

Inside the helicopter, Ethan asked Dave about the conference.

Dave explained that it was an international conference of the world’s true upper echelons, the ones who actually ran the global economy, not the public figures like Musk or Bezos.

Each participant possessed at least over a trillion USD in wealth.

Dave continued to give a slow, detailed review of what might happen there.

The helicopter landed at the airport, and from there they boarded a private jet headed toward the meeting site, a secluded island in the Pacific Ocean.

The jet was the latest model developed by the world’s richest tech company, reserved only for the most elite VVIPs.

Dave proudly described every detail, hoping to see even a flicker of astonishment in Ethan’s eyes.

Ethan, however, remained calm.

Dave was secretly envious of the true rulers of the world, those men and women who controlled everything. Still, he took pride in his own wealth, for at least it allowed him to stand among them.

This was the annual meeting where the world’s richest and most powerful showcased their latest inventions and established business protocols.

The flight lasted two hours before finally reaching the private island.

The island was vast, spanning fifty kilometers in radius.

When Ethan and Dave disembarked, Ethan immediately sensed many powerful auras. Some were at emperor level.

They proceeded to the meeting venue. Along the way, Dave greeted countless influential people. The conference would be held in the grand palace in two hours.

”Ethan, let me give you a tour first.”

Dave then guided him to several shops. These shops displayed the latest weapons designed by the top arms manufacturing companies.

Suddenly, Ethan’s eyes widened. He had spotted a stone. Using his appraisal ability, he instantly saw its details.
