My All Powerful System

Groan!

”Argh, my head hurts,” Jack croaked out loud, voice weak. He cracked his eyes open slowly.

”Wait... I’m not dead. Holy shit.” A grin spread on his face before he even realized it. He scanned the room, cracked walls, dim light, wooden furniture. Poor, but still ten times better than his moldy apartment back on Earth.

”So I got transmigrated to another world,” he laughed, the sound dry and shaky. ”Place isn’t rich, but still better than my old apartment though.”

The laughter died fast.

”But why am I so weak? Feels like I’m about to die again, and why am I even here? i wasn’t supposed to wake up, i was supposed to be dead.” Panic crept in. His chest tightened, ”What’s happening?”

”Calm down, Jack. Calm down,” he muttered to himself, fists clenching the sheets. ”You’ve read a hundred NovelFires. There’s always a guide, a cheat, a system”

As if the universe heard him.

[Ding!]

[Welcome, Host, to the All Powerful System]

’Holy fuck. A freaking system.’ His eyes snapped open fully. He sat up in bed, grin wild. This was it, the cheat. His Destiny.

[Time left till death: 23:59:41]

’Wait. What? I got reincarnated just to die?’

[Curing Disease... 1%... 2%... 50%... 100%]

[Synchronizing Host Compatibility... 3... 2... 1]

Then a sizzling pain hit him lightning.

Not normal pain. This was like every nerve in his body got lit on fire. He screamed not a shout, a raw, throat tearing scream that didn’t sound human.

”Argghh! It’s too much! I’m dying! I’m dying!” He cried, tears almost bloodied.

Light burst from his skin. He convulsed, back arching off the bed, screaming as blue and gold energy cracked across his bones. It felt like his body was being rebuilt cell by cell.

Then... silence.

He went limp, almost dead. If not for the grin still stuck on his face.

Something changed, he felt it. Not bad or worse on the contrary it was way better, or any word greater than better.

His vision sharpened. He could hear the wind outside the window, the faint heartbeat down the hall. His heart pumped faster, stronger. Power flooded his veins.

Jack exhaled, dazed, conquering beauties? A perverted system? Oh great. Then he spread his sense and froze. Loud Feminine Footsteps. Someone is coming.

Then..

Bang!

The door slammed open.

Standing there was the most beautiful woman he’d ever seen in 25 years of life or Soul now.

Blonde-orange hair cascaded down her shoulders. Orange eyes glowed with care, tears, relief and panic.

Curves that made his new enhanced senses short-circuit. Her dress barely contained her chest, and the scent of flowers and magic hit him like a drug.

Wait Magic?

”Lynx!!” She choked on his name. ”You’re alive! You’re alive and changed and breathing! You’re 18 already and you’re.. you’re not dead!”

Tears fell as she lunged forward and crushed him in a hug.

”You’re not dead. You’ll never be gone. Thank the gods, thank the heavens,” she sobbed, holding him so tight he could feel her heart pounding against his chest.

Jack went stiff. This insanely hot woman was crying over him, clinging to him, and he had zero memories of who she was. Plus, his new senses made every detail overwhelming.

Oh right. No memories, and I’m exhausted and pained as hell.

’System Restore Memories. Now.’

[Restoring Memories... 3... 2... 1]

The familiar pale blue interface flickered in his vision. Fragments slammed into his mind her name, Isabel. Aunt. Guardian.

The last thing he felt before blacking out was warmth, softness, and her arms refusing to let go.

Then darkness.

”Lynx nooo! Stay with me, nooo!” Isabel screamed, checking his pulse frantically.

”His heartbeat... he’s still alive. Thank the gods, I’m overreacting. Stay calm, Isabel.” She gently laid him back on the bed, brushing hair from his face.

She studied him, relief flooded her face, then confusion.

”He looks different now, stronger, more handsome than any creature she had seen in her entire life. What happened? He was supposed to die at his 18th birthday today. Now he’s back from the dead... awakened, blessed... stronger. Something changed him. I just hope it’s for the best.”

She pressed a soft kiss to his forehead and left the room, door clicking shut behind her.

Jack didn’t hear it. He was already out.
