Merging with Demon Spirits

Chapter 48: Chapter 42: Proof in Reality

Seeing those cheering for him on the screen, Lin Feng was also quite surprised.

He never expected to have fans at all.

Lin Feng did not know, although many doubted his talent on the forums, there were also many who sneered and even cursed him.

But no one could deny his extraordinary fighting technique and combat talent, which were rare even among university students, let alone high school students.

Those clean, slick movements, combined with his already handsome looks, really did attract some fans.

Among these fans, middle school and high school students were the majority, with girls making up the most of them.

In their eyes, Lin Feng was not only handsome and talented, but he also hid his talents for his girlfriend, which was precisely the white knight all girls dreamed of!

For Lin Feng’s competition today, they organized on the forums, even skipped school just to come to the scene and say, ”Go for it!”

”The arena competition is about to start. High school students, please come to the central arena to prepare,” announced the commentator’s voice.

”Central arena?” Lin Feng raised an eyebrow.

The central arena at the Thunder Martial Arts Dojo was the best, with a diameter of forty meters. Usually, it was used for team battles. When did it ever accommodate martial artists of the Body Cultivation Realm?

Although surprised, Lin Feng didn’t dwell on it.

Guided by a golden beam of light, Lin Feng made his way to the arena, remaining quite calm in front of over 200,000 spectators.

At this moment, the information of both challengers was displayed on the arena.

[Chen Xu, 18 years old, First Grade Martial Artist, refined a Seventh Grade Netherworld Tiger, 89 matches, 68 wins, 20 losses, 1 draw]

[High School Student beating a Martial Artist, 16 years old, Eighth Rank Body Cultivator, 9 matches, 9 wins, 0 losses, 0 draws]

”No way, wasn’t it just a day ago? The high school student is already an Eighth Rank Body Cultivator?”

”That Chen Xu is a Demon Spirit Master.”

”Breaking through so fast, is he really hiding his strength?”

”Who cares if he’s Seventh or Eighth Rank Body Cultivator, there’s no difference, they both can’t cultivate any techniques.”

”Damn it, someone else beat me to it, now there’s no hope.”

As Lin Feng’s information appeared, it caused a commotion among the audience.

Amidst various discussions, Lin Feng’s opponent also stepped onto the arena.

A short-haired boy who didn’t look much older than Lin Feng, wearing a gray martial artist’s uniform, with sharp eyes that exuded a spirited aura.

”Didn’t expect to be this lucky.”

The boy ascended the arena, with a hint of joy on his face. He only came out of curiosity but didn’t expect to actually get selected.

Chen Xu looked at Lin Feng and smiled, ”Your combat talent is really strong, but you’re still far from defeating a Martial Artist.”

Having said this, he did not make the first move, instead extending his hand, signaling Lin Feng to strike first, showing an air of elegance.

As a First Grade Martial Artist and a Demon Spirit Master who refined a Seventh Grade demon spirit, challenging Lin Feng wasn’t about defeating him, but rather for the attention.

Now, ”The Most Arrogant High School Student” is a hot topic on forums, with even many media outlets covering it, and this match is preliminarily estimated to have at least millions watching.

Is there a better stage for showcasing oneself?

At 18 years old, being a First Grade Martial Artist is decent strength for Chen Xu. Though he can’t compare with the prodigies at school, he’s definitely not weak, and refining a Seventh Grade Netherworld Tiger means both his potential and strength are considered excellent.

Though only a sophomore, it’s only a few months before he enters his junior year. Chen Xu is already planning for his future after graduation.

In his view, as long as he performs well today, he may catch the eye of some big martial dojos or even clubs.

Apart from those simply displeased with Lin Feng’s arrogance and intending to teach him a lesson, many shared the same idea as Chen Xu.

”Xu really is lucky today.”

”What a pity, none of us got the chance to go on stage today, came for nothing.”

In the audience, a group of young people resembling university students gathered, complaining.

Many of them signed up for the arena challenge, even spending an extra 100 New Coins. With hopes dashed, it’s no surprise they felt some disappointment.

Now that the betting time of five minutes had passed, the big screen showed Lin Feng’s odds had skyrocketed to 1 to 8.9.

Such high odds were remarkably rare at the Thunder Martial Arts Dojo!

Clearly, the vast majority of spectators believed Lin Feng was no match for Chen Xu.

Not one for unnecessary words, Lin Feng saw the opponent had no intention of striking first, he stomped the ground and shot forward swiftly.

”Here he comes!”

Chen Xu shouted lowly, clenching his fists as fire-red Spiritual Power enveloped his arms, his figure sprinting swiftly like a leopard.

He had no plans of holding back, intending to go all out from the start.

If he wanted to showcase himself and catch the attention of clubs, then he needed to reveal his best side.

Chen Xu’s figure quickly appeared before Lin Feng, his fist encased in a fiery red glow, carrying astonishing power with a faint space-breaking sound, aiming directly for Lin Feng’s head.

The fierce wind swept up Lin Feng’s black hair, revealing a pair of deep, dark eyes.

”His power is at least three times mine, plus added fire elemental damage!”

Lin Feng knew he couldn’t afford to get hit. Even a single hit would mean the fight was over.

Apart from the power, that red fist clearly was the effect of Spiritual Power enhancement.

And Spiritual Power enhancement, that’s precisely the hallmark of a Martial Artist, and judging by the subtle breath around, Chen Xu was already quite skilled in the utilization of Spiritual Power.

The blazing fist appeared before his eyes, and Lin Feng’s figure moved. With a quick step, he suddenly appeared to the left of Chen Xu, clenched his fists, and aimed for his head.

”So fast.”

Lin Feng’s speed evidently surprised Chen Xu, but he didn’t panic, simply raised his arm to block.

”Bang!”

Amid the sound of impact, Chen Xu stood motionless, while the forceful Lin Feng retreated a step; his numb right fist felt as if it had struck not flesh, but a hard stone, with even a slight burning sensation on his fist.

With just a tiptoe, Lin Feng swiftly appeared in front of Chen Xu.

”Left side, such speed.”

Huff, a fierce gust of wind came from the left, startling Chen Xu. He hadn’t anticipated that Lin Feng, whose attacks weren’t strong, would have such terrifying speed.

Speed was precisely Lin Feng’s pride.

In mid-air, a fierce whip-like kick.

”Bang!”

Chen Xu was prepared. He simply raised his arm to block, deflecting Lin Feng’s attack, with only a slight swaying of his body. Clearly, no matter how fast Lin Feng was, it wasn’t sufficient to shake him.

”Bang bang bang....”

Like lightning, Lin Feng unleashed a flurry of kicks, his feet weaving as if a continuously swinging long whip, striking at awkward angles mostly aimed at areas of lower defense. His attack strength varied, making it difficult to judge.

However, these tricky attacks posed no threat to Chen Xu.

Chen Xu playfully watched Lin Feng, easily deflecting his attacks with his flaming red arms, eventually not even needing to block, just covering his vital parts and letting Lin Feng strike.

”Your speed indeed is fast, but your strength is too weak.”

With a casual wave of his hand, Chen Xu flung the attacking Lin Feng aside and laughed.

To him, this level of attack wasn’t painful or itchy. No matter how tricky the opponent’s speed and angles were, without enough strength, he couldn’t even hurt him, let alone break through his defense.

”Encased in spiritual power, pure force indeed finds it hard to breach his defense.”

Seeing Chen Xu’s defensive power, Lin Feng wasn’t surprised.

The advantage of a martial artist lies in the spiritual power fusion, significantly enhancing strength, speed, and resilience.

”It’s over!”

Chen Xu stomped on the ground, a cracking sound echoed as the ground shattered like a spider web. His body shot out, swiftly dashed towards Lin Feng, instantly reaching him.

With the amplification of spiritual power, Chen Xu’s attack was like a storm, madly targeting Lin Feng’s vital parts.

Facing Chen Xu’s continuous attacks, Lin Feng remained calm, not panicking at all. Amidst the fierce attacks, he shrunk his body, leapt lightly, effortlessly dodging through Chen Xu’s attack gaps.

”How is this possible?”

Exclamations and discussions arose.

Initially, when the audience saw Chen Xu’s fierce attacks, while Lin Feng could only dodge, they were amused, but soon noticed something was wrong.

Though Chen Xu’s strength and attacks were intense, like a storm, trying his best but still couldn’t hit Lin Feng. Lin Feng could even lightly touch the ground, with just a flicker of his body, he could evade attacks. His leisurely dodges combined with his natural speed were truly terrifying.

Though Lin Feng was fast, his strength was too weak to break through Chen Xu’s defense. On the other hand, even though Chen Xu was strong, his speed didn’t match Lin Feng’s. Thus, temporarily, the two were in a deadlock.

”Ah~~~”

Chen Xu roared in anger, clearly irritated. At this moment, he appeared to be played by Lin Feng, attacking repeatedly but unable to touch even a corner of his clothing.

Originally he thought this battle was his chance to shine. He didn’t even take Lin Feng seriously, yet unexpectedly, he not only failed to swiftly achieve victory but was also dominated by Lin Feng!

Even if he won eventually, it was destined that the club wouldn’t be interested in him.

Bang bang bang!

Seeing Chen Xu somewhat frenzied, Lin Feng remained calm. As he dodged, he also surrounded Chen Xu, erupting violently, increasing both speed and strength, dazzling everyone.

”Such terrifying combat talent.”

In the VIP section, Zhang Ling’s expression slightly changed. She knew Lin Feng had strong combat talent but didn’t expect it to this extent.

Though Lin Feng’s strength and speed were inferior to his opponent, with his excellent fighting technique and perfect body control and timing, he was actually undefeatable up front.

Though it seemed like they were exchanging blows continuously, Chen Xu never hit Lin Feng, but was repeatedly struck by Lin Feng. Lin Feng’s attacks were almost all on the same spot, Chen Xu’s back.

Even with spiritual power enhanced defense, being hit dozens of times in a short period was surely unbearable.

”So strong.”

Sitting beside, initially disdainful of Lin Feng, Zhang Weiran’s face was filled with shock.

If the opponent were him, he feared he’d be beaten to death.

At this moment, he finally understood what his aunt said about Lin Feng’s combat talent being so high that even refining a Fifth Grade Demon Spirit, no club would refuse.

”Get lost!”

Now Chen Xu’s face was flushed red; he stared intently at Lin Feng, flaming spiritual power swirling and rising on his hands, condensing into a somewhat illusory hand seal. Yet before fully deploying his martial skill, he was interrupted by a frontal whip-leg from Lin Feng.

Dong!

Lin Feng dodged and unleashed a heavy punch hitting Chen Xu’s back, the robust force causing his entire body to stagger. He grunted, and a trace of blood appeared at the corner of his mouth.

Subsequently, under the somewhat aghast eyes of the audience, Chen Xu, like a sandbag, was beaten eastward and westward by Lin Feng, without the power to retaliate.

At this moment!

Lin Feng proved with facts that a high school student could indeed beat up a martial artist.
