Merging with Demon Spirits

Chapter 5: Chapter 4: Demon Possession

The [Blue Moon] floats in mid-air, emitting a shimmering light.

At this moment, all the demon spirits are suppressed by a certain force, unable to fly, and can only move within a two-meter range from the ground.

Although a part of their beast nature is suppressed, their instinctive sense of crisis makes them frantically flee everywhere, but they are blocked by a layer of blue barrier.

”Quick, go! The [Blue Moon] has started releasing the demon spirits.”

”Speed up, otherwise the good demon spirits will be chosen by others.”

”Brother, wait for me, let’s go together!”

When the demon spirits pour out like a rainbow, all the candidates instinctively scramble onto the altar, chasing after the demon spirits, creating a chaotic scene.

”Brother Feng, I’m going, I must succeed.” Gao Hai also leapt onto the high platform and disappeared into the crowd.

Lin Feng looked at Gao Hai’s figure and did not say much.

On the Awakening Day, becoming a Demon Spirit Master mainly relies on talent and strength.

The talent of the Soul Sea determines whether one can become a Demon Spirit Master and what grade of demon spirit can be refined, while strength, which is essentially abundant Qi and blood and a strong physique, determines the success rate of refining.

The talent of the Soul Sea is the main requirement for becoming a Demon Spirit Master; without this talent, even if one is strong, it is meaningless.

Of course, luck also plays a part; being lucky enough to encounter a demon spirit that you want and matches your attribute increases the success rate significantly.

Although Lin Feng possesses some special secret skills and experience, these secret skills require very high demands for use and cannot be released without long-term training. Hence, he could not help Gao Hai much.

Without any surprises, Gao Hai is going to refine the Second Grade Strong Demon Bull this time.

The Second Grade Strong Demon Bull belongs to the most common Basic-Level Power Type demon spirit, apart from boosting power, it doesn’t have additional attribute damage.

In Lin Feng’s eyes, such a demon spirit rank is too low, negligible, and he will find a higher-ranked demon spirit for Gao Hai in the future.

”Lin Feng, aren’t you going?”

Song of Solomon saw Lin Feng still not moving, couldn’t hold back, and asked anxiously.

They had agreed long ago to act together on Awakening Day, to look out for each other.

”No need, you go ahead.”

Lin Feng glanced at the girl, the unfamiliar look in his eyes made Song of Solomon shudder. She couldn’t understand why, just after taking a nap, Lin Feng had become so estranged and indifferent.

That gaze no longer held the past affection and care, and even had a trace of rejection.

Rejection?

What did I do wrong?

Song of Solomon’s eyes reddened, she held back her tears, didn’t ask further, turned, and left.

”Thud...”

Continuously, demon spirits were chased app by the youths, merged into their bodies, but quickly passed through and flew away, this was due to insufficient soul power, or mismatched attributes, poor aptitude, preventing the refinement of demon spirits.

At this moment, not far from Lin Feng, a youth pursued a ball of golden demon spirit, rapidly merging it into his body.

”Ah!”

The youth suddenly let out a painful groan, streams of purple arc light surged from his body, accompanied by crackling electrical sounds.

Simultaneously, his appearance changed drastically, his muscles swelled, limbs became extremely stout, his originally dark pupils turned brown, his nose and forehead became abnormally large, a golden spiral horn emerged from his forehead, and his previously delicate fair skin turned like reddish-brown copper.

”It’s a Sixth Grade Golden-Horned Rhinoceros, although it doesn’t reach the level of Advanced demon spirits, it’s a rare Thunderbolt Attribute demon spirit.”

”This kid is so inexperienced, a real rookie, it’s just the beginning, there’s still time to pick, with good luck, might even refine a Seventh Grade demon spirit.”

Although a Sixth Grade demon spirit, it’s a Middle Grade demon spirit, only a grade less than High Grade demon spirit, and it’s a thunder attribute; it’s considered a very good demon spirit.

As the crowd discussed, they felt pity, this youth quickly succeeded in refining, suggesting his soul sea talent is extremely excellent.

More people continuously refined demon spirits, their bodies transformed, but almost all refined demon spirits were below Fifth Grade, making up the vast majority, Sixth Grade demon spirits and above were rare.

However, very soon, the crowd’s attention was drawn to a short-haired youth, a layer of intense golden light abruptly burst from his body.

The youth’s originally dark short hair was dyed yellow, and swiftly lengthened to his shoulders, his deep eyes turned purplish-red, exuding a fierce and cold beastly aura. His whole skeletal frame cracked loudly, and his height, originally around one meter seventy, suddenly shot up due to demon spirit possession, looking no less than one meter eighty, his muscles swelled abruptly, his once relatively loose school uniform burst apart, revealing explosive powerful physique, muscles clearly defined, meanwhile, a pair of golden wings suddenly shot out from his back, flapping slightly, the air was filled with a scorching vibe.

The youth’s long, slender arms swelled massively, already covered with golden fur, black claws emerged through his fingers, shimmering coldly, at the center of his forehead, a ”King” character gradually emerged.

”What demon spirit did that person awaken? Looks very formidable!”

”That’s Flying Tiger, a Seventh Grade demon spirit, after demon possession, it not only grants powerful attack power but also fire series damage, advanced demon spirits almost all have innate abilities, Flying Tiger’s innate ability is Rage Frenzy, very high existence among Seventh Grade demon spirits.”

”Didn’t expect the demon spirit that Ruiyi Group offered last year was obtained by the youth, if no accidents occur, this youth will probably join Ruiyi Group in the end.”

”Those major groups only provide demon spirits, where they go isn’t decided by them.”

”Who is this youth who looks to be on a path to fortune?”

In the city square, there is a giant light screen. Whenever someone merges with a Sixth Grade or higher demon spirit, the spectacular scene appears on the light screen, and when the Flying Tiger demon spirit was merged, it caused a commotion; it was the first Seventh Grade demon spirit to be merged.

The crowd discussed enthusiastically; flying demon spirits are much more precious than earthbound ones—the Seventh Grade Flying Tiger is a demon spirit that everyone envies.

Outside the venue, a plainly dressed woman tightly clenched her hands while watching the light screen, excitedly exclaiming, ”That’s my child. I knew he would succeed.”

The woman expressed her excitement loudly, basking in the envious and jealous gazes of those around her, and as she spoke, her eyes reddened and she started crying.

She felt the attention from the important people on the altar; she understood that her child had leaped over the dragon’s gate and was about to change their family’s life.

The young people pursued earnestly—the successful ones were naturally overjoyed, but those who gained nothing did not give up, continuing to chase anxiously.

Only one person was indifferent to the demon spirits, letting them shuttle before his eyes like a headless fly, running amok in the crowd.

”The distribution of candidates on Awakening Day is by region. That Ye Qiu is a student at Jiang City First Middle School, not far from our school’s location in the northwest area. Even if Ye Qiu pursues by running, the range won’t be too large.”

”However, there are too many people now, making it very hard to search.”

Lin Feng weaved through the crowd; in his past life, Ye Qiu was Jiang City’s pride, so Lin Feng was naturally familiar with his appearance.

But now, Ye Qiu was just like him, a sixteen-year-old high school student. Even if the area was narrowed, finding someone in such a colossal crowd was extremely difficult.

”Dong!”

The ancient bell sounded again, causing all the young people to tremble; they had two hours to refine demon spirits on Awakening Day, and now half the time was gone.

The youths who were still unable to refine demon spirits grew anxious.

Even those who could refine them but were still choosing sped up. Some emotionally fragile girls started crying, clearly realizing their Soul Sea talent was too poor to merge with even the lowest First Grade demon spirit.

Lin Feng still hadn’t found his target, and the crowd had already dispersed, making it almost impossible to find a person.

”There’s not much time left; stop looking for people, focus on finding black demon spirits!”

Lin Feng observed carefully; compared to the various colorful demon spirits, black demon spirits were rather rare.

”Not this one, not that one either!”

Lin Feng kept chasing black demon spirits so that when the bell sounded again, even he felt somewhat anxious.

The effect of the Blue Moon artifact in suppressing the beastly nature of demon spirits lasted only two hours, leaving only half an hour now.

Once the time was up, all demon spirits would be reclaimed by the Blue Moon Divine Artifact, and participating next time would require special school approval or a fee of 100,000 new coins.

For a school to give special approval, one must be a genius. Lin Feng’s skills were good, but not to that extent, and since he would graduate next year, he would lose eligibility to participate unless he paid 100,000 new coins.

But 100,000 new coins were a dream for a family with no savings and even external debts.

Even if he could make money, demon spirits like the Nightmare were rare and elusive, possibly never encountered again in a lifetime, so failing was not an option this time.

”There...”

At this moment, Lin Feng’s eyes lit up as he suddenly darted in a direction.

Not far ahead, a black demon spirit was rushing toward a young boy wearing a brown school uniform with a burning maple leaf emblem at the chest—Jiang City First Middle School’s badge.

”Ye Qiu?”

”Absolutely cannot let him discover the uniqueness of this demon spirit!”

In the crowded throng, Lin Feng quickly caught up, and just as the demon spirit began merging into the boy, Lin Feng suddenly appeared before him and grabbed the black demon spirit.

Looking down, Lin Feng saw the demon spirit resembling a ghostly shadow, exuding mystery and coldness. In its head, pupils flowed with twin dark vortices, causing dizziness.

”Just like the Shadow Demon Spirit! It’s the one!”

His eyes filled with joy; without hesitation, Lin Feng directly merged it into his body.

”Such excitement?”

Ye Qiu was slightly astonished, but didn’t think much of it.

Awakening Day didn’t prohibit fighting over spirits.

If two people both desired a demon spirit, competition was inevitable, and even fighting was normal.

With his strength, even Ninth Grade demon spirits weren’t appealing to him; he sought demon spirits from the Earth Chart. Though that demon spirit seemed unusual in appearance, it was clearly a Fifth Grade Shadow Demon Spirit, unworthy of his refinement.

”It seems Ye Qiu hasn’t noticed that demon spirit’s uniqueness.”

With the Nightmare now merged into his body, Lin Feng swiftly turned and dashed into the crowd.

He felt fortunate; if he had waited longer, Ye Qiu might have discovered the Nightmare’s extraordinariness.

Lin Feng avoided the crowd, rapidly weaving through.

Reaching a secluded corner, Lin Feng sat cross-legged, quickly channeling the Nightmare demon spirit into his dantian, yet the process filled his mind with violent killing intent and fury.
