Merging with Demon Spirits

Chapter 25: Chapter 19: Dazzling Radiance

Ring ring ring!

With the sound of the bell signaling the start of class, a woman stepped into the classroom with a joyful stride.

The woman appeared to be about twenty-one or twenty-two years old, not very tall, around one meter fifty-six, but she was delicate and pretty.

She was at the prime of her youth and perhaps, to add a teacher’s authority, she deliberately wore a drab black professional suit with black-framed glasses. Yet even with that, it was hard to conceal the youthfulness on her face.

It was obvious that she was a newly graduated university student coming to intern as the class teacher.

There were quite a few girls in the class who appeared more mature than she did.

Of course, the woman was merely the life class teacher, mainly responsible for the students’ life and daily schedules, with no actual authority.

”Alright, everyone, please quiet down a bit.”

On the podium, Xu Wei smiled slightly, her dimples seemed to be smiling too.

Hearing the voice, the drowsy Lin Feng looked up, and what greeted his eyes was that smile. Unconsciously, his initially restless mood suddenly calmed down.

”It’s so nice to see you!”

If during his third year of high school, due to the Song of Solomon, he hated school, hated his classmates around him, even hated everything, but the only thing he reminisced about in those dark times was this class teacher.

”Lin Feng, you have to keep it up, even though you failed on Awakening Day, the teacher believes you can still get into a good university.”

”How are you feeling today? If you have any confusion, you can talk to the teacher.”

”Why have you become so quiet? Engage more with your classmates.”

Those caring words seemed to still echo by his ears.

From elementary to high school and even university, Lin Feng had never had any good feelings towards the teachers who taught him.

In the era of great cultivation, words like teachers being candles, gardeners would sound ridiculous if spoken aloud.

In a society where might makes right, teachers and leaders only focus on two kinds of students.

First are the cultivation geniuses, as that concerns their performance evaluations.

The second are students with family backgrounds, which would bring them benefits.

For a student like Lin Feng, living in the Shore District, although hardworking and academically excellent, but not a genius, concern was an extremely rare sentiment, and sometimes he would even be discriminated against.

This wasn’t just Lin Feng’s feeling but a shared sentiment among all the students in the Shore District.

If there was no cultivation talent, many children from the Shore District were even reluctant to continue schooling.

Only Xu Wei was an exception.

That pure smile, not tainted with any worldly smell of copper and iron.

She cared for and looked after every student.

As far as Lin Feng knows, her family background was not good, with her mother having passed away early and her father disabled, unable to work. There was also a brother in high school at home, for whom she was the only hope. Yet even so, she would still set aside some of her limited salary to help students in financial difficulty.

The attire they deemed old-fashioned might be the best and most expensive clothes she had ever worn.

Unfortunately, her outcome was not good, as she would soon encounter a scumbag who would change her life.

”Alright, before class, I have an announcement for everyone.”

Xu Wei adjusted her glasses and said, ”Awakening Day has ended, starting next Wednesday, there will be a test. The top 100 students in the school can enter the key class. Everyone must strive to work hard and strive to get into the key class.”

Once she said this, everyone started discussing, but clearly, they were prepared and not surprised.

With three months to go before the college entrance examination, the school will give special attention and special training to the students in the key class, with the aim of sending more people to be admitted into the Nine Elite Joint Schools.

For a key middle school, there is an assessment criterion, and this assessment criterion directly determines the government funding the school can receive in the next year, as well as the personnel arrangements for the school leadership, so the school attaches great importance.

”Brother Feng, it looks like we don’t have any hope,” Gao Hai said somewhat dispiritedly.

Even though he had refined the second-grade Strong Demon Bull, which could add ten points to his score, with his sixth-rank body cultivation strength and academic performance, his overall score was not high enough to be in the top 1,000 in his grade, let alone get into the key class.

”Don’t worry, Brother Feng will take you flying.”

Lin Feng patted his shoulder to comfort him.

For him, the resources provided by the key class were just a drop in the bucket. As for pre-exam guidance, did he need it?

Those so-called special training sessions were meaningless to him.

He could almost instruct those teachers instead.

”Alright, stop discussing now, let’s start the class.”

Xu Wei clapped her hands and tapped on the digital board.

Now is the era of great cultivation, all courses at Jiangxin Middle School revolve around one point, which is to become a martial artist and how to hunt demon beasts.

And the college entrance exams are divided into three parts, totaling 750 points.

The first part: Cultural score, 200 points.

This cultural score is not about traditional language, mathematics, or physics scores.

Those basic knowledge, students have learned in middle school. It involves knowledge about the martial world, such as common spirit medicines, types and weaknesses of demon beasts, etc.

The second part: Physical score, 350 points.

The physical score, which represents the level of qi and blood, accounts for almost half of the score.

The third part: Combat score, 200 points.

A martial artist, if powerful but not combat-capable, is not enough. Combat primarily tests the mastery of fighting techniques.

Based on historical admission standards, a total score of 750, scoring 580 points is enough to get into the Nine Elite Joint Schools.

Scoring 660 points allows one to enroll in the Three Heroic Academies.

In a test conducted half a month ago, Lin Feng’s cultural score was 189, physical score 212, combat score 150, with a total score of 551, falling short of the qualifications for the Nine Elite Joint Schools.

Lin Feng’s cultural score had already reached its limit, with a score of 189 placing him in the top ten of his class.

The combat score of 150 was also considered a high score, mainly his physical score severely held him back.

For a student like Lin Feng, who lacks resources, improving his physical score was the most difficult.

Even with three months left, the improvement in scores was limited, likely hardly making a difference.

And Gao Hai’s score was worse, just over 500.

Hence, for most students, they were already aware of what university they could get into in the future.

Besides these three sections, if there are special skills, such as mastering a martial arts skill like archery, swordsmanship...

Or some special craft.

As far as Lin Feng knows, some students in the class obtained a junior alchemy apprentice certificate, a junior refining apprentice certificate... These can also give extra points for specific university majors, the extra points varying depending on the university.

Becoming a Demon Spirit Master also grants extra points.

Refinement of a Demon Spirit of First Grade can add 5 points, a Second Grade one can add 10 points, and so on, with the highest refinement of an Earth Chart Demon Spirit granting up to 50 points.

The course schedule for the senior year is cultural subjects in the morning, physical training in the afternoon.

Xu Wei’s course is Plant Spirit Object Recognition.

This course mainly introduces various plants that martial artists can use in the wild and various Treasures of Heaven and Earth.

Even if very sleepy in this class, Lin Feng still tried to stay awake, but his mind was not on the lesson.

The second period: Demon Beast Recognition.

This course mainly introduces the types and weaknesses of demon beasts, accompanied by videos demonstrating the techniques for hunting demon beasts.

The students were visibly very interested in this course, and understood its importance, as after all, as martial artists, hunting demon beasts is a basic skill. Not focusing during this time could lead to a deadly outcome in the future.

And that blood-soaked scene would occasionally cause some female students to scream, waking the drowsy Lin Feng, who looked up, then continued to nap.

In terms of hunting demon beasts, he was already a master. The demon beasts slain by his hands were in the hundreds or thousands, and in this city, perhaps there were few who could surpass him.

During the morning courses, Lin Feng wasn’t listening at all, he slept the entire morning, his state clearly noticed by classmates. In their eyes, Lin Feng was unable to bear the blow of failure and began self-destructing.

In their view, Lin Feng’s future offered little hope.

Ring ring ring!

When the school bell rang, Lin Feng slowly opened his eyes.

He wasn’t awoken by the noise, but by hunger.

He hadn’t eaten enough in the morning, and the after-effects of the Sealing Evil Seal began to manifest, blood loss, and qi and blood depletion, leaving his body in a state of extreme hunger.

”Let’s go, eat something.”

Lin Feng patted Gao Hai on the shoulder and said.

As the two of them were just stepping out of the classroom, a graceful silhouette blocked their path.

”Lin Feng, I have something to discuss with you.”

Song of Solomon stood in front of Lin Feng, appearing very serious. Lin Feng noticed that the girl looked different today, at least not the same as yesterday.

Although her outfit hadn’t changed, still wearing the blue and white school uniform, her temperament had changed.

The originally beautiful Song of Solomon didn’t have much of a cultivation talent, maybe above average, and being from the Shore District, compared to the true celestial children, she always lacked confidence. But now, having refined an eighth-grade Enchanting Butterfly and signed with the Juxing Club, that lack of confidence had vanished.

In just one night, the girl had undergone a transformation, becoming confident and determined, more dazzling and radiant.
