Let’s Squander A Billion First!

Chapter 2164: Chapter 2164: Mr. Zombie (23)

The zombies suddenly retreated strategically, and the group of newcomers found the scene bizarre.

As the surroundings quieted down, they didn’t dare to relax their vigilance.

”Captain Xia, what’s going on with these zombies?”

The man referred to as Captain Xia was wearing camouflage clothes. Despite being amidst chaos, his attire remained neat, exuding a unique aura.

Xia Li looked in the direction of the zombies’ retreat, furrowing his brows slightly. He didn’t know what was going on either.

Those zombies were too strange.

”Stay alert, let’s check on the survivors first.”

”...Yes.”

-

Chuzheng stood at the window watching, while Jin Ling was helped up and moved to a car. Chuzheng didn’t know what Jin Ling said to the person helping her, but suddenly that person glanced in Chuzheng’s direction.

Chuzheng didn’t avoid or flinch, allowing the person to scrutinize her.

The man looked at her briefly before turning his gaze elsewhere, and he sent someone over to ask Chuzheng to come down.

Chuzheng politely declined.

The other party didn’t insist, they cleaned up the battlefield and moved to another side, eventually stopping to rest on one side of the resort.

”Boss, these people seem to be official...”

After the people left, Zhi Kai and the others dared to surface like turtles poking their heads out.

”So what?”

”...”

Shouldn’t meeting official people make one excited?

Chuzheng continued, ”If you want to follow them, you can go.”

”No... not at all. We’re fine following you.” Zhi Kai immediately pledged loyalty.

Chuzheng turned back inside, returning to sit on the sofa, and Bei Chi sniffed at her curiously.

Chuzheng pushed his head away, ”Don’t be naughty.”

Bei Chi let out a playful growl and turned to lie down on the other side.

Zhi Kai and the others watched the interaction between the boss and her little pet, not daring to breathe heavily.

Next day.

That group departed early in the morning, with the daylight revealing the weapons they carried.

Besides hefty heavy weapons, there were many other types of equipment.

The equipment looked new, as if it had just been taken out from somewhere.

Zhao Yingjun pondered for a moment, ”I heard there’s a military base nearby, not sure if they got their supplies from there.”

”It’d be nice if we had such weapons too.”

”What do you want them for?” Chuzheng asked, bemused, ”To hurt people?”

Zhao Yingjun was at a loss for words.

Well, that seems true.

As long as they don’t mess things up, the zombies won’t attack them now.

So really, what else is there to do... but hurt people.

Chuzheng left a bit later, choosing not to take the same route as that group, considering she had a large group trailing behind. A collision would be disastrous.

But although she avoided trouble, trouble still found her.

About half a month later, Chuzheng ran into a group, initially thinking it was a coincidence. But who knew the group was waiting for her?

”Boss, that’s her.”

The other party gazed at Chuzheng boldly, holding a piece of paper and occasionally glancing at it, seemingly comparing notes.

The Boss tossed the paper to his underlings at the back, raising his chin and asked, ”Are you Ji Chuzheng?”

Chuzheng remained expressionless, ”Who are you?”

The Boss laughed, ”You don’t need to know who I am. I heard you have quite a bit of supplies and water?”

”...” Which idiot is spreading rumors? ”Where did you hear that?”

The Boss sneered, not addressing her question, ”If you have sense, hand over the goods, and we won’t make things difficult for you. It’s tough making a living these days.”

With resource scarcity, robbery was all too common.

The group felt no psychological burden about it.

Chuzheng: ”I’m asking you, where did you hear that?”

The Boss: ”Does it matter?”

Chuzheng: ”Quite a bit.”

The Boss paused, holding fast to the notion that everyone should die knowing why, and said, ”I heard it from a woman on the road.”

”What’s her name?”

”How would I know?”

”You don’t even know her name or anything about her, how do you know she’s not setting you up for a trap? Is your IQ negative?”

The Boss: ”...” Who are you insulting!

The Boss’s heart wavered slightly.

Soon, he steadied himself, chuckling coldly, ”We have no feud; why would she do that? Enough talk, just hand over the goods!”

”Maybe she just doesn’t like you.” Chuzheng began to talk nonsense.

Got fooled by someone’s casual remark and came to confront her. Must have forgotten to recharge his IQ!

”...”

”Boss, she’s messing with us.” One of the underlings stepped forward, ”Let’s just take action, why bother talking to her!”

The Boss thought his underling made sense.

”Alright, since you refuse the chance, don’t blame us. Get her!”

The group’s equipment was decent; with the Boss’s command, the underlings immediately drew their guns...

But before they could fire, countless zombies began to sprint out from Chuzheng’s side.

Initially, only a few appeared; soon, more followed.

”...”

The Boss’s face turned pale with fear, focusing entirely on escaping rather than the supplies.

”Get in the car, get in the car, hurry!”

The Boss turned and ran toward the car while shouting.

But zombies appeared ahead too, surrounding them completely.

Someone wanted to shoot, but the Boss stopped him.

The Boss glanced towards Chuzheng, the girl stood with her arms crossed as zombies surrounded her, showing no intention to harm her.

The sight was unspeakably eerie...

What’s with these zombies? Why does it seem like...

”Is this what you wanted?” The girl’s tone was inexplicably cold, ”Why run? Weren’t you here to rob?”

”...”

What they wanted was food and water, not zombies!

That woman certainly deceived them deliberately...

The Boss believed it because he overheard the conversation inadvertently, not because someone directly relayed it.

If someone had told him, he wouldn’t have believed it.

”Now can you tell me where you got the information?” After scaring them, Chuzheng politely asked.

”...”

With so many zombies around, the Boss dared not entertain any other thoughts.

The tools in their hands were utterly inadequate against so many zombies.

”I don’t know her... I just ran into her on the road; she was with official people, and I overheard... overheard her talking to others...”

The Boss was just accidentally lucky since he didn’t know which route Chuzheng would take. He randomly picked one and waited, unexpectedly encountering her...

The Boss felt it was just bad luck.

If he knew she was so hard to deal with, he wouldn’t dare come even if beaten to death.

Those were zombies!

How could anyone make zombies obey them!

Is she even human?

The Boss dared not hide anything, earnestly describing the person he encountered, which increasingly matched the profile of that annoying Jin Ling.

Even like that, she still found time to stir up trouble, quite dedicated.

Chuzheng thought maybe she should send her a pennant.

”The enemy of your enemy is your friend, friend, lend a hand.” Chuzheng expressionlessly placed several gold bars in front of the Boss.

The Boss: ”...”

Speak your mind, why use those things!

Nowadays, gold bars can’t even trade for a loaf of bread, okay?!
