Invincible Soul Emperor

Chapter 602: Chapter 602: Shocking Move

Never mind the difficulty of killing 100 low-level demons. If Ye Qingchen didn’t team up with these people, he could still earn 10,000 points just by killing 100 of them himself. Therefore, almost no one would agree to such a condition.

Zhang Guangling thought so as well. He was just waiting for Ye Qingchen to refuse so he would have an excuse to act against him. But to Zhang Guangling’s surprise, Ye Qingchen agreed without the slightest hesitation.

Of course, Ye Qingchen wasn’t a fool; he knew the condition was incredibly unfair to him. But if he refused now, Zhang Guangling would surely use it as a pretext to suggest he leave the team.

At that point, Xiao Xiao would definitely come into conflict with the team over this. Since Xiao Xiao was the team captain, Ye Qingchen couldn’t let her be put in a difficult position over these things. Besides, it was just killing 100 low-level demons. With his current strength, he felt it wouldn’t be difficult to accomplish. Although he’d have to share some of the points, having them help lure out the low-level demons would indeed save a lot of time.

Afterward, the group began searching for a gathering place of low-level demons. Along the way, Xiao Xiao wore an angry pout, clearly unhappy. She understood that Ye Qingchen was doing this for her sake, but she couldn’t bear to see him being taken advantage of by others. Ye Qingchen continuously comforted her via voice transmission, and only then did her expression soften a little.

Zhang Guangling had clearly done his homework before entering the Demon Clan battlefield. He was very familiar with its environment and quickly led the team to a gathering place for low-level demons.

Ye Qingchen surveyed the surrounding environment. It was an empty grassland with no cover whatsoever. Several miles away was a cluster of buildings made from piled rock; upon closer inspection, one could just make out the vague silhouettes of houses.

Zhang Guangling addressed the group, saying, ”Let’s do it here. We’ll be responsible for luring the low-level demons over for Ye Qingchen to kill. But let’s not make it too hard on him; we’ll lure just a few at a time.”

Ye Qingchen scoffed. ”There’s no need for such trouble. This gathering place seems to span for dozens of miles, and luring them over each time won’t be easy. Just do your best and bring back as many as you can at once. We don’t need to waste time here.”

These words played right into Zhang Guangling’s hands. He immediately burst into laughter and agreed. Without waiting for Xiao Xiao to say anything, he led the other three and flew off toward the demons.

Xiao Xiao was so angry she stomped her foot. ”Young Master, these people are clearly trying to make things difficult for you! Why did you agree? I know you’re doing this for me, but I have a token bestowed by the Sect. They have to listen to me.”

Ye Qingchen simply smiled and shook his head. ”Xiao Xiao, that Zhang Guangling might not listen to you, though the other three might. Besides, after I show them my true strength, perhaps we’ll face a lot less trouble later on.”

Xiao Xiao pursed her lips. She still didn’t understand Ye Qingchen’s reasoning, but since the deal was made, she could only say, ”Then when they return, I’ll fight alongside you.”

”Don’t worry.” Ye Qingchen waved his hand, refusing her kind offer. ”The reason I dared to tell them to lure more low-level demons is because I am fully confident!”

Ye Qingchen had agreed to this not only to keep Xiao Xiao out of a difficult position but also because he had another plan. Back during the joint examination of the four major academies, the Saint Heir had already shown his absolute determination to kill him. Now, he had run into Zhang Guangling on the Demon Clan battlefield, who was also under orders from the Saint Heir to move against him. Therefore, Ye Qingchen refused to believe that the Saint Heir would only send a single cultivator at the fifth layer of the Martial Emperor realm to deal with him. After all, the combat power he had displayed during the examination was definitely not something a mere person at that level could handle. Ye Qingchen suspected that the Saint Heir had likely dispatched even more people to ambush him on this battlefield. Hunting them down one by one would be a daunting task. Yet, not searching for them and constantly feeling that an enemy could appear at any moment was just as unsettling. Thus, Ye Qingchen planned to display his power to make Zhang Guangling afraid. Only when Zhang Guangling was afraid would he seek out other allies. By doing so, he would continuously draw out all the people arranged by the Saint Heir, bringing them right to him!

As Ye Qingchen was lost in thought, Zhang Guangling returned from the low-level demon gathering place. Four or five low-level demons were chasing him, two of which already had fledgling wings sprouting from their backs.

In Zhang Guangling’s opinion, an attack from these four or five low-level demons was something even an average expert at the fifth layer of the Martial Emperor realm might not be able to withstand, let alone Ye Qingchen, who was only at the first layer of the Martial Emperor realm.

Seeing Zhang Guangling return, Ye Qingchen drew his Double Pupil Sword. If he was going to display his strength, he had to inspire utter terror in his opponent.

Thus, when Zhang Guangling was still over ten meters away, Ye Qingchen struck. The Shadow-extinction Sword Technique formed in an instant. Although Ye Qingchen didn’t use any Attribute Energy, his control over nature’s spiritual energy had reached an inhuman level since he had advanced to the Martial Emperor Realm. Under the cloak of nature’s spiritual energy, the Shadow-extinction Sword Technique became supernaturally unpredictable. Bolstered by this energy, its power was now on a completely different level.

From Zhang Guangling’s perspective, Ye Qingchen had merely swung his sword at the empty air twice. He hadn’t even felt the slightest Energy Fluctuation. Zhang Guangling even thought that Ye Qingchen was just swinging his sword around to look cool.

But in the next moment, the bodies of the low-level demons right behind Zhang Guangling suddenly exploded, and they met a violent end.

Zhang Guangling didn’t even have time to process what had happened. He just stared blankly at Ye Qingchen, completely speechless.

Ye Qingchen let out a cold chuckle and said indifferently, ”Please, be so kind as to lure some more low-level demons over.”

After speaking, Ye Qingchen paid Zhang Guangling no more mind. He had just felt a strange energy enter his body. A portion of it was absorbed by the grey jade plaque next to his Dual Pupil Martial Soul, while the majority was absorbed by the stone egg he had obtained previously.

In fact, back during the Sect’s newcomer examination, Demonic Qi would enter his body whenever members of the Demon Clan were killed. It was just that back then, Ye Qingchen was only at the fourth layer of the Martial King Realm and hadn’t noticed this change at all. Now, with the advancement of his strength and the continuous perfection of his Dual Pupil Martial Soul, he could faintly perceive this phenomenon. But it had all happened so quickly just now that Ye Qingchen couldn’t pinpoint the energy’s source at that moment.

Hearing Ye Qingchen’s mocking words, Zhang Guangling gritted his teeth, turned around, and flew back toward the low-level demon gathering place once more.
