I Return From Hell

Chapter 67: Chapter 63: Playing with an Open Hand

Xia Yu said no more.

???

Everyone was stunned.

”Yu, why’d you stop mid-sentence?”

Xie Shaokun asked, ”Who is it? We’ll all vote with you.”

’They didn’t hear me?’

Xia Yu frowned and asked, ”Could you read my lips?”

Everyone shook their heads.

Xia Yu: ”What about my eyes?”

Everyone shook their heads again.

A look of realization dawned on Xia Yu’s face. She understood. ”I just stated my choice and even looked at the person,” she explained. ”But you couldn’t hear me, and you couldn’t see it.”

”I’ve been restricted.”

”I can’t tell you my choice in any way.”

This was the power of the rules—utterly terrifying.

”Huh?”

Everyone was shocked.

’This restriction is insane, isn’t it?’

”Th-then what are we supposed to do?”

Xie Shaokun was running around like a chicken with its head cut off.

Little Nannan also looked troubled.

Only Zhao Xianghe was ecstatic. ’This is great! It’s completely helping me out!’

”But I can give you some advice.”

Xia Yu spoke again.

Everyone’s expression grew serious as they listened intently.

”Xie Shaokun lied.”

Xia Yu’s words were shocking.

Xie Shaokun’s face paled. ”Yu, you... what...”

Everyone’s eyes widened, their faces a mixture of confusion and shock.

Xia Yu didn’t keep them waiting long. ”Xie Shaokun, you said your superpower is Enhancement. You said that for my benefit, didn’t you?”

”Because you know that I know you, that you really do have an enhanced superpower, so there was a high chance I’d believe you.”

”What’s more, you knew there was a high chance Little Nannan would also trust my judgment. So as long as the two of us didn’t point to you, you’d be safe.”

”What role would you have to be to think that way?”

”The Liar!”

’Is it really Xie Shaokun?’

’Do superpowers really exist?’

Everyone was even more surprised.

Xie Shaokun grew anxious and quickly denied it. ”Yu, no, that’s not what I was thinking.”

”Mm.”

Xia Yu said, ”But then I thought it through. You’re probably not that smart.”

Xie Shaokun: ”...”

Xia Yu: ”So, I came up with a new theory.”

”A theory based on your level of intelligence: you know that I know you, and you also know that if I die, you die. So, from the very beginning, your goal was to protect me first, and yourself second.”

”In other words, you don’t want me to die, and you don’t want to die either.”

”But you’re also the Liar. So what do you do?”

”You’re helpless.”

”Your only option is to ask me for help.”

”So, when you said your biggest secret was your enhanced superpower, that had to be a lie. Because the Liar has to lie. It’s your way of protecting yourself.”

”Your explanation afterward was a deliberate lie. You claimed to know the time and place of the Mist Event’s outbreak to secretly tell me that you are the Liar. You said all that to make your first lie more believable.”

”But you didn’t expect Zhao Xianghe to be suspicious of you from the very beginning.”

”If I’m not mistaken, that look of frustration you had later, when you smacked your own forehead, was because you felt you were being an idiot. You forgot that normal people would have a hard time believing in something as incredible as superpowers.”

Xie Shaokun: ”...”

’Bullseye!’

’Unbelievable!’

The others were thoroughly confused, but they keenly caught the main point: Xie Shaokun was the Liar!

”I told you he was the Liar! See! I was right!”

Zhao Xianghe immediately spoke up, trying to solidify his advantage.

”Please note the premise: I cannot reveal my choice!”

Xia Yu reminded them, ”And yet, I was just able to say that Xie Shaokun is the Liar.”

This...

Everyone was even more baffled.

Even Xie Shaokun himself didn’t understand what was going on.

”Zhao Xianghe, you also lied.”

Xia Yu continued.

Everyone felt like their brains were completely overloaded.

Xia Yu wasted no time, her speech quickening. ”We have no way of knowing how many girlfriends you’ve had.”

”The number you mentioned, ’three,’ is false! You lied right there.”

Zhao Xianghe was about to argue.

”Your subsequent explanations were intentional. Since we can’t possibly understand Wang Lin’s perverted behavior, we would naturally have no way of knowing you were lying.”

”You had two other objectives.”

”First, to shift our attention to Wang Lin’s perverted behavior and make us overlook the holes in your story.”

”After all, people love hearing stories about perverts.”

Xia Yu gave him no time to retort, continuing, ”Second, to make us sympathize with you, to see you as a victim, and thus trust you more.”

This world really does have too many perverts. Outsiders can never understand their thoughts; even other perverts can’t understand them.

Zhao Xianghe’s expression changed. He found himself unable to refute her.

In the end.

He said dejectedly, ”You... you’re a freak.”

Everyone wholeheartedly agreed.

”Little Nannan.”

Xia Yu continued, ”You’re a Liar, too.”

”Huh?”

Little Nannan’s eyes widened. ”I didn’t even look at my role card. How could you possibly guess that?”

The others couldn’t understand or believe it either.

’Could it be that Xia Yu really does have the superpower to predict the future?’

”And our last young lady.”

Xia Yu didn’t know the Dingding Girl’s name, so she simply went on, ”You also lied.”

The Dingding Girl’s expression finally changed.

Xia Yu continued her analysis. ”If I’m not mistaken, you did burn down your uncle’s house, but you didn’t do it on purpose.”

”That’s where you lied.”

”Most people wouldn’t notice that. Zhao Xianghe was playing a numbers game; you’re playing a word game.”

The Dingding Girl couldn’t hold it together any longer.

”You could even guess that?”

She was utterly stunned.

”Moreover, you played a little mind game.”

Xia Yu said, ”You deliberately showed a flaw to make everyone think you were the Liar. Then you gave a follow-up explanation. As long as people didn’t think you were an idiot or a fool, they’d be even more convinced that you weren’t the Liar.”

”In reality, you *are* the Liar!”

The Dingding Girl was so horrified she was rendered speechless.

A person.

Can they really be this incredible?

To analyze someone’s thoughts so clearly.

For a moment, a chill ran down her spine, as if she were standing naked before Xia Yu, seen through in a single glance.

”Of course.”

Xia Yu said, ”I lied too. I don’t have any superpower, much less the ability to predict the future.”

Everyone was completely dumbfounded.

’Everyone was lying?’

Zhao Xianghe suddenly realized something. His eyes widened, and his body trembled. A crazed look flashed in his eyes, and like a Mad Dog, he lashed out at Xia Yu. ”Bullshit.”

”That sentence right there was a lie.”

”If you don’t have a superpower, how could you possibly know what all of us were thinking?”

”Your superpower is either to predict the future or to read minds.”

”So, I have reason to suspect you’ve been lying from the very beginning, just to confuse our judgment. In reality, you’re the real Liar!”

The others were stunned.

The situation descended into chaos.

Xia Yu frowned, looked at Zhao Xianghe, and said, ”You’re getting desperate. But why are you so desperate?”

”I see now.”

”You must know you pointed at the wrong person, and now you want to drag us all down with you.”

”You... you really deserve to die.”

’Was she right again?’

Zhao Xianghe felt like Xia Yu was a demon, one who had seen right through his every thought.

’How am I supposed to play this game?’

”I didn’t!”

”You have to believe me.”

He was completely panicking.

’Chaos.’

”Verifying whether I’m right is actually very simple.”

Xia Yu turned to Xie Shaokun. ”Everyone...”

”Show your hands!”
