I Return From Hell

Chapter 60: Chapter 57: The Final Seven

Seeing this, the bald man’s expression changed drastically.

He knew his sister had a fragile disposition. The moment she encountered anything terrifying or sudden, she would instinctively cover her ears and shut her eyes.

So...

If this dragged on, his sister would die for sure.

The next moment.

The bald man turned around, his face a mask of pain and resolve. ”Son, you must want to save your aunt, right?”

PSHHT.

As he spoke, he personally used his longsword to gouge out his son’s two eyeballs.

”Brother, what are you doing?”

Little Fang, for her part, was obediently listening to her brother. She hadn’t looked away or even blinked. ”I can’t hold on much longer. My eyes are so sore.”

”Hold on!”

The bald man quickened his movements and roared, ”You have to keep them open.”

Little Fang could only use her hands to prop her eyelids open, forcing them not to close.

Soon.

A pair of eyes appeared in front of her, and her brother’s voice sounded in her ear. ”Little Fang, take them. Hold them in front of your own eyes.”

”AHHH!!!”

Little Fang screamed in terror and instinctively shut her eyes.

Terrified, the bald man hastily placed the two eyes in front of Little Fang’s, forcibly stopping her from struggling. ”Don’t move! Don’t move!”

It was clear he truly doted on his sister.

Unfortunately...

Little Fang’s head still went flying high into the air.

’Was it because she struggled and misaligned the eyes, or is it because it doesn’t work if someone else holds them for you?’

Xia Yu mused curiously as she watched the arc through the air.

THUD.

Little Fang’s head rolled to a stop at Dingding Girl’s feet.

”Perfect.”

Dingding Girl was overjoyed.

Little Fang’s eyes plus her nephew’s eyes made two pairs in total. Among those who hadn’t been ’chosen’ yet, it was just her and the little girl whose thigh had been pierced.

One pair each, just enough to go around!

The next moment.

”I’ve been chosen!”

”I can move.”

Dingding Girl immediately squatted down, intending to forcefully gouge out Little Fang’s eyes.

”Stop!”

”Don’t touch my sister! I’ll fucking kill you!”

Seeing this, the bald man was consumed by rage. He lunged forward instantly, swinging his longsword. Perhaps because he was too agitated, his movements were too wide, and more blood gushed from his empty eye sockets.

At that moment, his body swayed and his legs felt weak. He was in extremely bad shape.

These were clearly symptoms of excessive blood loss.

But he paid it no mind, completely lost to madness.

In fact, after experiencing so many calamities, it was already a miracle that he hadn’t gone mad sooner.

”Don’t kill me, I’m begging you.”

”I want to live too, please, I’m begging you, let me live.”

Dingding Girl’s face paled, but her hands didn’t stop. She quickly gouged out Little Fang’s eyes, held them in front of her own, and then rapidly retreated, terrified the bald man would kill her.

”Nobody gets to live! Let’s all die together! Die!”

Like a demon, the bald man launched a suicidal charge, heedless of everything. The longsword in his hand drew closer and closer to Dingding Girl.

CRACK.

Suddenly, the longsword snapped.

A hand clamped down on the bald man’s shoulder.

”Calm down.”

Xie Shaokun roared, ”Don’t you have parents? A father-in-law and mother-in-law? If you die, what will happen to them?”

”They’re gone.”

”They’re all gone.”

The bald man shook his head frantically, as if he’d lost his mind. ”A car crash. They died together. All my relatives are dead, and I’m going to die too! Get off me! Get off me!”

”I’m going to kill that fucking bitch.”

He had nothing left to live for in this world.

He was a pitiful man.

Xie Shaokun sighed. His hand didn’t loosen its grip, holding the bald man’s shoulder like an iron vise, rendering him immobile. ”The dead can’t be brought back. My condolences.”

THUMP. Dingding Girl collapsed to her knees, sobbing, her face a mess of tears.

”I want to live too, WAHHHH...”

”Big Brother, you at least had family to be with, but what about me? I’m an orphan. I grew up at my uncle’s house, where I was abused. I ate their leftovers, wore their hand-me-downs, and never knew what it felt like to be loved by a family, WAHHHH...”

”I ran away from that house when I was fourteen and have been scraping by on my own ever since.”

”I finally managed to make something of myself, and life was getting better and better. I don’t want to die.”

”Please, let me live.”

She poured it all out in one breath, her words more a lament than an explanation.

Hearing this, the bald man shuddered. As if all his strength had been drained, he collapsed to the ground. The broken sword fell from his hand, and he began to sob uncontrollably, having spared Dingding Girl.

”Sigh.”

Seeing this, Xie Shaokun sighed.

He was an orphan too.

He knew the pain of being an orphan all too well.

At this moment, a profound sense of powerlessness washed over him. He felt so insignificant, wishing he could save all the weak.

Ever since meeting Xia Yu, Xie Shaokun’s physical condition had rapidly improved. He had even awakened a superpower, and his combat power was immense, far surpassing that of an ordinary person. Especially now, as long as he held a sharp weapon, he could easily kill a Mutant single-handedly.

This made him feel very powerful.

But at this moment...

Sigh.

He sighed once again.

”Big Brother, can you help me cut out my left eye?”

”I’ve been chosen.”

A weak voice sounded out.

SWISH.

Everyone’s gaze turned to the little girl whose thigh had been pierced.

She hadn’t been chosen yet.

”Here... take my eyes.”

Xie Shaokun gritted his teeth and said.

”But what about you, Big Brother?”

The little girl with the pierced thigh said, ”I don’t want to be the reason you die. Little Nannan can do it. You have to believe in Little Nannan, Big Brother.”

”As long as you’re fast enough, Big Brother, Little Nannan won’t feel any pain.”

To reassure Xie Shaokun, she even forced a smile while enduring the pain in her thigh.

Seeing this made Xie Shaokun’s heart ache even more, and he was just about to say something else.

”Take these.”

The bald man suddenly spoke up, handing his son’s eyes to Little Nannan.

Everyone was stunned. They were clearly surprised, not expecting such a rapid change in the bald man’s attitude.

”Why are you all looking at me like that?”

The bald man was in anguish. ”Two years ago, my son saw a news story on TV about cornea donation. He told me that when he died, he definitely wanted to donate his corneas to help someone else see again, to let his life continue on.”

”At the time, I just smiled. My son was so healthy, how could he possibly die so soon?”

As he spoke, tears once again streamed from his remaining eye.

”Now, I’m just helping him fulfill his wish.”

He pushed his son’s eyes directly into Little Nannan’s hands and said in a tone that allowed no argument, ”Take them. My son will be very happy to know I made this choice.”

”Thank you, Uncle.”

”Thank you, Kind Brother.”

Little Nannan said gratefully.

And so, everyone now had a pair of eyes, and everyone would live.

Amidst the sorrow, it was a happy ending for all.

’What a touching scene.’

’Scenes like this have become rarer and rarer since the Apocalypse began.’

’I hope it’s all genuine.’

Xia Yu glanced at Dingding Girl but said nothing. Instead, she turned her gaze to the stairwell leading to the third floor. She could sense that the restriction there had been lifted.

The Armor was gone.

And of them, only seven remained.
