I Return From Hell

Chapter 66: Chapter 62: The Second Round

SWISH.

Everyone’s gaze fell on the Dingding Girl.

The lie was just too obvious.

”Are you really the liar?”

Zhao Xianghe couldn’t help but frown. He looked at the Dingding Girl with surprise and asked, ”Isn’t this a little too obvious? Do you take us all for fools?”

”Yes, I lied.”

The Dingding Girl admitted it directly.

Everyone breathed a collective sigh of relief.

Her admitting it was good enough.

It saved them the trouble of guessing wildly.

To be honest, at this point, no one could say with absolute certainty who the liar was.

But a flicker of doubt crossed Xie Shaokun’s face.

Xia Yu’s expression shifted as she noticed this detail.

The next moment, the Dingding Girl spoke.

”I lied before, when I was facing that bald guy.”

”I didn’t run away from that home. I burned it down and was sent to a juvenile detention center.”

”He was determined to kill me back then. It’s normal to lie to save your own life, right?”

The Dingding Girl retorted, ”I’m not the liar now, so why would I keep lying? Of course I’m telling the truth.”

Everyone’s brows furrowed suddenly.

It sounded like she had a point.

”You think I don’t remember what I said?”

The Dingding Girl asked again, ”Am I that stupid?”

Uh...

The others were speechless.

Indeed. At a time like this, everyone was fighting for their lives. No one would be that foolish.

Even if they were to make a mistake, it wouldn’t be such a stupid one.

”This just makes things more chaotic.”

Zhao Xianghe frowned, glancing between Xie Shaokun and the Dingding Girl, then at Little Nannan and Xia Yu. He felt like his brain was about to fry.

Xie Shaokun ran a hand through his hair in frustration.

”Next.”

The Treasure House owner’s voice rang out, his tone as flat and emotionless as a machine.

”It’s my turn.”

Feeling everyone’s eyes on her, Xia Yu scanned each person and said calmly, ”My biggest secret is...”

”I’ve awakened a superpower: the ability to see the future.”

Huh?

Zhao Xianghe, the Dingding Girl, and Little Nannan were all stunned. They clearly hadn’t expected Xia Yu to say something like that.

Only Xie Shaokun had a look of sudden realization.

’No wonder Yu knows so much. So that’s how it is.’

He’d had similar suspicions before but could never be certain.

”How... how is that even possible?” the Dingding Girl couldn’t help but say.

That was even more unbelievable than Xie Shaokun claiming he had a superpower. If anyone but Xia Yu had said it, she wouldn’t have believed it for a second.

But how could someone like Xia Yu spout such nonsense?

”Big Sister.”

”If you can see the future, you must know who the liar is among us, right?”

Little Nannan’s line of thinking was always so unconventional.

”Of course.”

Xia Yu nodded.

Everyone was startled, their expressions a mix of emotions.

Xie Shaokun was shocked and delighted, and also a little expectant.

Zhao Xianghe’s eyes darted away, full of disbelief.

The Dingding Girl, on the other hand, had an innocent look on her face and even spoke up, ”That’s great! We finally don’t have to guess randomly. To be honest, I still don’t have a clue.”

”Hmph.”

Zhao Xianghe snorted coldly and said, ”Xia Yu, you claim to have the ability to see the future. Who’s going to believe that?”

”I don’t believe it for one.”

”If you’re the liar, are we supposed to believe you anyway?”

”What do you all think?”

As he spoke, he looked at the others.

”I believe Yu.”

Xie Shaokun was the first to speak.

Little Nannan nodded along and said, ”No matter what, I believe Big Sister too.”

Zhao Xianghe: ”...”

’The three of you are a team. What damn use is my choice or the Dingding Girl’s!’

”I believe her too.”

the Dingding Girl also piped up.

Zhao Xianghe’s mouth twitched. ’So, I’m the only one who suspects Xia Yu?’

Feeling their suspicious gazes on him, he grew even more flustered and quickly spoke again, ”Can’t you all see? Xia Yu is just trying to use us as cannon fodder! She wants us to test the taboos here for her and find a way to break this curse!”

”How could she possibly have some bullshit superpower?”

Xia Yu watched him with a calm expression, saying nothing, offering no explanation.

Xie Shaokun, Little Nannan, and the Dingding Girl also stared at Zhao Xianghe in silence.

”You...”

Zhao Xianghe suddenly felt helpless. He could only say, ”Anyway, I’m not the liar. Don’t blame me for not warning you—if you choose wrong, people will die!”

”I’ll die, and those who vote for me will die too!”

”Very good.”

The Treasure House owner spoke again. ”It seems you have all made your judgments.”

”Next, the second round begins.”

”This round’s restriction: one person will lose their right to choose and will automatically follow the majority’s decision.”

”Now, please point out the person you believe is the liar.”

Hm?

’Isn’t this restriction aimed at me?’

Xia Yu frowned, looking at the back of the Treasure House owner, a bad feeling creeping over her.

”Wait a moment.”

After a moment of thought, she unexpectedly spoke up. ”I’d like to ask a question.”

”What question?”

the Treasure House owner said, ”I’ll tell you in advance, I have the right not to answer.”

Xia Yu asked, ”If we clear this, are there any other rewards besides being able to leave?”

The Treasure House owner shook his head and said, ”In your dreams.”

The others were confused.

’What’s the point of asking that at a time like this?’

Xia Yu asked again, ”How did you survive, and how did you become a part of the rules?”

Everyone’s eyes widened. That was an unconventional angle they had never considered.

The Treasure House owner said, ”You’re asking too much. I refuse to answer those two questions.”

Xia Yu: ”I’m asking so many questions. You’re not going to apply the restriction to me, are you?”

The Treasure House owner sneered, ”Don’t try to provoke me. It’s useless. I’m still going to restrict you.”

The next moment, Xia Yu felt the power of the rules press down on her.

She had lost her right to choose.

However, her objective had been achieved.

And she was now more certain than ever of a particular suspicion she held.

”Now, please point out the person you believe is the liar.”

The Treasure House owner reminded them, ”The mist is coming. You don’t have much time.”

Hearing this, everyone tensed up.

Because of their vantage point, Little Nannan and Zhao Xianghe could see that the mist had already reached the third floor and was covering nearly half of it.

”We need to hurry.”

Zhao Xianghe spoke up, licking his dry lips. ’I have to take the initiative,’ he thought, ’or Xia Yu and the others will definitely think I’m the liar.’

”I think it’s Xie Shaokun.”

He spoke first, pointing at Xie Shaokun.

”Please, put our previous unpleasantness aside and believe me.”

”After all, your own life is at stake. You can’t let your emotions cloud your judgment.”

Zhao Xianghe looked at the Dingding Girl, hoping she would believe him.

She was the only ’ally’ he thought he had a chance of winning over.

However, the Dingding Girl just looked at Xia Yu, completely ignoring him.

His heart sank.

A bad feeling washed over Zhao Xianghe. He looked at Little Nannan and said, ”Little Nannan, you... you have to believe Big Brother this once. Big Brother would never lie to you.”

”Also, after we get out of here, I’ll buy you a lollipop.”

Little Nannan said, ”Big Brother, I said I’d believe Big Sister, and I’m going to keep my promise. My mom told me that it’s important to be trustworthy.”

Zhao Xianghe: ”...”

’Trustworthy my ass!’

He almost cursed out loud.

”Also,”

Little Nannan added, ”I stopped liking lollipops a long time ago. They’re bad for your teeth if you eat too many.”

Zhao Xianghe was so angry he could have spat blood.

”Serves you right.”

Xie Shaokun said.

Zhao Xianghe: ”...”

”Yu, who are you choosing?”

Xie Shaokun asked, ”Zhao Xianghe?”

Little Nannan looked over as well.

Under everyone’s watchful eyes, Xia Yu opened her mouth to speak. ”I choose...”
