I Love Destroying Worlds' Plot

Chapter 1968: 24.229 Sixth Violet Star - Last Letter

Despite the warning from their commander, the falling things above their heads were beyond their controls. No one knew which and where the mixed stones and metal spears were going to fall on their heads and a lot of them had suffered from it. Moreover, no soldiers had grabbed their shield on time. Within the open field of the borderland, a few soldiers who were pierced through and died had scattered in the area. The pool of blood had once again spread in the area.

Upon seeing this, General Gu Ying grabbed a few steel spears on the ground and threw them up, killing as many beasts as he could target. The falling boxes fell outside the borders as the beasts carrying it died. He had also killed enough birds flying above their heads and continued to lessen the flying beasts coming over to their side. Seeing these the other soldiers had also made their move and copied their commander. Though their accuracy isn’t as much as General Gu Ying, hitting the wings was enough for the boxes these beasts carried to fall over.

General Gu Ying commanded, ”Don’t let them enter the territory whether it’s the land, sky or water! Fight! Defend our homeland!”

”Defend our homeland! Defend our homeland!”

The soldiers fearlessly fight against the beasts. Even though their number cannot be compared against these beasts, they were still able to protect the borderland from the first wave of beasts. Only after night fell, that the attack from the sky had lessened a lot. Tonight seems so peaceful, so quiet that some soldiers fell asleep as soon as they rested. However, most of them were only closing their eyes, none of them truly dared to sleep in this situation.

Meanwhile, at the other side where the beasts reside. At the barren land’s outer region, the beasts surrounded the stone hill where their commander was resting. A huge flying eagle flew down from the sky and reported the result of their first wave of invasion these few days.

Flaps~ Flap!

”Reporting to the leader! The flying troop had successfully reached the quota for human deaths. However, on the last day, it seems that despite losing more humans, the commander made one single move to pull them back from their sorrows.” The lord grade eagle beast said in beast language.

The sleepy lion on the stone hill yawned and said, ”Good work. Call the assassination squad next. Tell them. They are to kill the humans tonight. But do not touch the commander of the humans. He is out of their reach for now.”

”Go ahead. Disperse. Once dawn rises, tell the heaviest troops to get ready. Tomorrow we will try to destroy the walls that divide our barren lands to their fertile lands.”

”As you command!”

The beasts disperse leaving their commander to come back to his sleep. Once the rest of the beasts had left, the black lion peered through the lights from the distance showing the locations of the walls and where the humans were. Unlike the humans who need light to see in the dark most beasts in the barren lands can see without it. After all, light is the most rare thing in their land, next is food and lastly is water. No one can understand why such a barren land appeared and beasts have to appear there.

The Beast race is always hungry. That’s why the rule in the Barren lands is that only the fittest can survive. With such scarce resources it is no wonder that they would attack the weak races for their fertile lands.

Actually, the beast race had two choices before they were born in this world. One is to become a tameable beast and find a master who would accept them. Only after being tamed will they have a chance to evolve much faster than being in the wild alone. Second, to become a wild beast who can only grow through killing.

This is the reason why not all beasts in the Barren Lands can be tamed and while the tamers chose to find the eggs of these beasts instead. Only when once got the beast as an egg that the tamers will be able to choose the route of evolution for their beast. But like everything else, there are always two sides of the coin. Those who chose to become a wild beast will be inherently stronger after hatching than those tameable ones. That’s why it’s rare to find a tameable beast in their adult forms, as they were either killed or eaten by their own kind before they could even grow.

There are also divine beasts or the Mythical beasts born in this world. However, they follow a different rule. They are not to mingle with mortals and would rarely appear in the mortal realm. But sometimes they will descend in this land of mortals and mingle with them. That’s how some powerful beastmen were born.

Hezi and Heri were the example children of these divine beasts. But like other divinities, they are detached to the mortal feeling. Even after having their own children they will choose to leave them in the mortal realm. Mortals are incapable of surviving in the divine realm where divine aura and qi are too pure for their weak vessels.

Most mixed divinities were just born slightly stronger than their original race. However, there will be some like Xue Laira who was born with divinity but with a weaker physical body. They would unintentionally cause the death of the one who gave birth to them. However, this is not entirely their fault. But because of the energy that comes from the other half who was already divine and caused such tragedy.

As the commander grade black lion watched the embers from the distant land, it mumbles,

”Sparse resources, high fighting ability. Abundant resources, weaker races.”

”The balance of the world and the source of chaos.”

”Everything is meant for a reason. Only destiny will open to those who don’t give up.”

”I’ve already lost a child and the humans had taken it away from me before I could see it hatch.”

”I wonder how are you doing my child,” The black lion murmured as he spread his hidden wings and used it as a blanket to protect himself from the cold and once again closed his eyes.

On the very same night. At the borderlands.

Regardless of the vigilance of the humans, those who had been fighting for days were now feeling their accumulated fatigues. They only close their eyes but they never have an intention to go to sleep. They only wanted to rest, and sleeping will only put their lives in greater danger. After all, assassinations are better done at night.

At the main tent where the commander of the human soldiers, General Gu Ying resides.

Gu Ying was reading the reports from the main city and learned that the situation at the Taming Academy was being resolved. There is also a message from the rulers that the reinforcement will arrive tomorrow morning at least or maybe at midday. They only need to survive the night before the second wave of the beast invasion starts again tomorrow.

”Lack of medical resources again. I need to ask the capital more. It would be better if it could arrive with the reinforcement.”

”The two princes from the beastmen race are missing? Captured by the beast race?”

”Is that even possible?”

”The two heroes, Lord Hunluan and Lord An Shizhe, disappear after leaving a letter.”

”The identities of those two seem to be more special. I doubt that they had left for no reason.”

”If there are rules that divinities cannot help in this war until the Evil Beast God appears himself, then...”

”Will we be able to survive until that time comes?”

”If this continues then... the students will have no choice but to be called to the frontlines. The death count in this land had already exceeded what it was normally.”

Sigh~

General Gu Ying lowered the report on his hand and held his aching temples. His headaches had been recent and it was due to his lack of sleep and rest as well as overusing his brain as he strategized the whole war preparations. He can feel that the commander of the beasts from the other side is too intelligent compared to the ones before. It can be said that he is a lot more dangerous than the famous beast kings from before.

”If that beast commander is as smart as I thought then... tonight will not be a peaceful one.”

Haa~

All of the sudden, he summoned his death soldiers. With a single gesture from his hand, a small group of men in black robes appeared. One of them is a familiar face. It’s that person who had cleaned up the assassins that tried to harm the old marshal on his way back to the city.

”Your command, General.”

”I want you to reach the core region of the barren lands. Avoid any interaction with the beasts and just push through to the center. You should be able to find them there,” said General Gu Ying.

”Who should we find, General?” The lead of the small group asked.

General Gu Ying answered, ”People who turn this war to our favor. You only need to beg them to help us. Kowtow, cry, or whatever. Just plead, it will depend on them whether we survive or get extinct.”

”Yes!”

As the men in black robes disappeared, the General pulled out a letter which was addressed to him. The contents says that if the race is on the brink of extinction, head to the core region and beg for mercy.

General Gu Ying looked at the name of the sender of the letter. Unexpectedly, the sender is the late old marshal.

”Teacher, I will trust you again this time.” Gu Ying mumbles.
