I Love Destroying Worlds' Plot

Chapter 1951: 24.212 Sixth Violet Star - Grandpa Tree’s Perspective

The death of the students due to the sudden appearance of the portal connected to the Barren Land had scared a lot of students and parents upon hearing the news. It is just that this tragic event has caused too many deaths that the parents can barely accept. More than half of the students in the academy had died. In an enclosed space, they were caught off guard and the beasts were like wolves appearing in the herds of sheep. Massacre was unavoidable.

If not for the students of F-Class and Genius Class acting as vanguard more students would have died. The teachers were badly injured and most of them had died protecting the students. It can be said that this isn’t entirely the fault of the academy, especially after learning that the one who had opened the portal is none other than another student.

The academy was now suffering from the rally of the parents whose children died in that tragic event. They are blocking the gates asking the principal to become responsible for the deaths of their children. The rallies were composed of different races which is rare. It is just that losing someone they love made them forget their race. All they wanted was justice for those loved ones they had lost.

Because of this event, most surviving students are unable to leave the academy to go home. Like the F-Class students who can only stay in their classroom after the event and get themselves treated. It can be said that they were covered in wounds but none of it was fatal due to their teamwork and the arrival of their two seniors, Hei Anjing and Ye Xiajie.

Their class adviser, Lord An Shizhe also said, ”Stay here for a while. I had activated the defensive mechanism in this place and it would block anyone who tries to sneak in. The real culprit who gave that thing that can create a portal connected to the barren land to that student is still in the academy. Since it’s impossible to go home, staying here is the safest.”

”Also don’t worry about Long Juedi and Haerin, they were brought back home by those two and will most likely return here tomorrow morning. There is a meeting with the school board. The classes will be postponed for a week,” said the World Eater who took his leave after making sure that his students were safe in their classroom.

After Lord An Shizhe had left, the students of F-Class chose to stay in the living area where they could rest. Most of them were tired of what happened in the gymnasium. Even for them seeing that many deaths with some familiar faces is uncomfortable. Like the students from the B-Class who fought against Nan Jiang and Haerin, those two friendly guys were eaten by the beasts in front of them. They failed to save them as the students of Class A and Class B were the closest to the portal and the one who was caught before they could even escape.

The usually noisy Nan Jiang was hit by the reality of how human lives are so easily lost against the beasts who are their enemies. It was only when that event had happened that these students finally understood the words spoken by their Senior Hei on the first day of their school.

”Jiang, don’t blame yourself. The students of B-Class were too close to the portal so when it opened they were caught off guard and...” Cao Wanji didn’t need to complete his words as everyone knows what happened when the portal suddenly opened.

Nan Jiang shook his head and said, ”I am not blaming myself. It’s just that... I finally realized that before death everyone is equal.”

”If there is someone to be blamed it can only be the culprit and that fool from Class A. Just because he didn’t want to apologize to us, he had to drag everyone to hell!” said Nangong Rui.

Cao Heiji with a gloomy look said, ”If I knew he would drag everyone down, I would have crippled him completely instead!” He was finally enjoying attending classes with his brother and this just had to happen. Now classes are postponed and they couldn’t even leave the school due to the rallies beyond the gates.

Talents and skills aren’t the most important for survival. In the battlefield where anything is possible, all kinds of deaths can happen as well. One careless mistake can take your lives. A genius can also die and so is an average skilled person. Before death what your worth or who you are didn’t matter. It is whether you can fight against fate and survive, or die as your destiny.

The whole place felt unexpectedly gloomy and quiet. Everyone still hasn’t moved on from the scene of massacre and how they almost died. After all, if the God of Destruction and the Sovereign God of Void and Darkness didn’t arrive the whole school would most likely be bathed with the blood of all students and teachers at that time. Even a dozen of Elemental Kings and Beast Kings were nothing against hundreds of their kind. Moreover, that kind of mutation that transcends their grade is something they didn’t expect.

Moreover, Xue Laira hasn’t woken up after fainting for overexerting herself. Even though Ye Xiajie had healed her like Haerin, she is the most affected after the summoning. Haerin’s contract with the four beast kings is the kind that is connected to her soul but wouldn’t affect her soul with backlash. All backlash was taken by the contract and the one who made the contract.

The one who made the contract is the God of Destruction. For Hei Anjing, this contract is just one of the millennia; it has the same effect as accepting believers. He will keep the connection, give some blessing to his believer and the latter will suffer less. That’s why Haerin’s state is better than Xue Laira. Only her physical body was affected but her soul was perfectly fine albeit fatigued.

On the other hand, Xue Laira’s vessel and soul were affected by the backlash. Summoning all contracted spirits beyond your level had the same effect as casting forbidden spells. The backlash is powerful enough for the caster to die. If not for the fact that Xue Laira is half-spirit, that summoning she had done in the gymnasium was enough to take her life.

In the clinic, Xue Laira is lying on the bed with pale complexion and her eyes closed to the world. Grandpa Tree in his humanoid form is now walking around the room nervously. He shouldn’t have allowed the princess to summon those elementals. Now her soul is wounded and cannot wake up. If the Elemental God, his master, learned about this he would definitely get punished.

{What should I do? The princess is not waking up. What did that lord say just now? The princess’s soul is injured. Damn, the only thing that can cure an injured soul is the spirit spring in the Spirit Realm. Should I go or not? I cannot leave the princess here alone.}

If one had gone to the clinic at this moment they would see Grandpa Tree that was about to lose his mind. It was at this moment that Nangong Rui, Cao Wanji, Cao Heiji and Nan Jiang decided to check on their classmate Xue Laira. They overheard the words uttered by the anxious Grandpa Tree.

Nan Jiang said, ”Grandpa Tree, leave Xue to us! We will definitely protect her!”

”If it wouldn’t take too long, we can be sure to protect her. With Xiao Lan here, as long as it’s not at the god-grade beast or spirit come, we should be alright,” said Nangong Rui with a little girl clinging on his back like a cute little sister.

The twins, Cao Wanji and Cao Heiji, nod their heads. Even though they didn’t say anything, their face says they are willing to protect their friends no matter what.

”Moreover, there is a defensive barrier around this place. Unless the one who comes is someone who has control over the school property we should be safe,” added Nangong Rui.

”If you are still unsure, you can place another barrier around this clinic. We will stay by her side until you return. Xiao Lan told me the reason why Xue is not waking up and there is something in the Spirit Realm that can cure her. Even though the location is forbidden for Xiao Lan to enter, it should be possible for Grandpa Tree.”

Grandpa Tree looked at the humans who were willing to accept his princess. He had always been with her ever since she was born. Chosen as her guardian, even without a contract he is willing to listen to the words of Xue Laira. However, like all other spirits unless her life is in real danger he is forbidden to make a move.

He had watched his princess get left behind in the orphanage gate under the race. He controlled the trees nearby to prevent her from getting wet until the humans found her. Her life in the orphanage was simple and happy. Her appearance is above human beauty due to her spirit bloodline. Many wanted to adopt her.

However, things take a turn after those humans learned that she is a half spirit. Most humans, especially ordinary humans, were afraid of the unknown. For the the existence of a spirit is as dangerous as getting involved with the beast the beast tamers have. Ordinary humans had no means of controlling beasts, that’s why they are afraid of them. Spirits or elementals were mostly known only among the Elven race who had contact with them.

So to ordinary humans, the existence of Xue Laira is equal to that of a monster in human form. She was returned to the orphanage after suffering from countless hurtful words. After being returned to the orphanage three times, some children and even the people of the orphanage retreated to her as something that is cursed. This is the lowest state of life for Xue Laira. She is always alone and would run away to hide just to cry.

It was at that time that she learned about the elementals as Grandpa Tree showed himself even by using his own qi to materialize himself. It is almost impossible for an elemental to materialize in the human realm without a contract. There is also the fact that not all humans see them even if they did materialize. However, to stop his princess from crying Grandpa Tree still showed himself to her.

He comforted her by gently wiping her tears and saying, ”Don’t cry, little princess. You are never alone. I am always with you.”
