“Don’t be so agitated. You’re the county’s leader after all. Calm down.”

“How can 1 be calm?!” Wang Yunjiang said.

“That’s a famous big company. You’re actually the boss behind it, yet I was ordering you around every day. With your status, you should be the one giving me the orders.”

“You can’t say that. You’re still the boss.”

“You have such a big family business. Why did you come to Dongsan County? There’s no need for that.”

“Old Qi’s ability is outstanding, and the company is in good hands under his management. I had nothing to do, so I came over to be a civil servant to pass the time and test myself. Looking at how things went, 1 feel like this was a good choice.”

Wang Yunjiang laughed self-deprecatingly. “You really hid it too well.”

“It’s mainly because you were too busy to pay attention to my matters. Otherwise, 1 wouldn’t have been able to hide it from you.”

“Alright, don’t say anything else. 1 initially wanted to try to persuade you again, but you have such a big business in Zhonghai, so I have nothing to say.”

Wang Yunjiang brought Lin Yi another cup of tea, but he still a little stunned. After steadying himself for a long time, he said,

“Although you resigned, no matter what, we’ve worked together for more than half a year. Without you, Dongsan County wouldn’t be where it is today. I, Wang Yunjiang, will remember your contribution to Dongsan County.”

After pausing for a few seconds, Wang Yunjiang’s eyes turned a little red.

“I don’t dare to say anything else, but as long as I’m in power and you’re in Dongsan County, speak freely. If anyone dares to show off to you, I’ll teach them a lesson!”

Lin Yi was also touched by Wang Yunjiang’s sincerity.

“We can be considered to have established a deep friendship. In the future, we’ll help each other. Remember to call me if there’s anything you need.”

Wang Yunjiang smiled and nodded. “Don’t leave today. I’ll arrange a meal to send you off.”

“Don’t, there’s no need for this.” Lin Yi picked up his teacup and said.

“As the old saying goes, the exchange of sentences is as faint as water. I’ll see you in the future.”

Wang Yunjiang was stunned for a moment. He smiled and said, “You’re too promising.”

The two of them treated the tea as wine and drank it in one gulp.

“Let’s go. I’ll send you off.”

Lin Yi did not want Wang Yunjiang to do anything. He wanted to just inform him and leave silently, but he really could not persuade the older man.

“Secretary Wang.”

When she saw Wang Yunjiang, Li Sijin greeted him, but she felt that something was wrong with Wang Yunjiang’s expression.

“Your Brother Lin is resigning. Send him off.”

“Brother Lin is resigning?”

Hearing this news, Li Sijin was in disbelief.

Before this, she had never thought about Lin Yi resigning.

But soon, she accepted this fact.

Brother Lin was a billionaire and had his own business in Zhonghai. He definitely couldn’t stay here for a long time. It was only normal for him to resign.

However, she still couldn’t accept this. She felt that the office would be missing something very important without him around.

“Director Lin wants to resign?”

The others who passed by Wang Yunjiang’s office were also surprised when they heard this news.

Without a doubt, Dongsan County’s current situation was all the result of his hard work.

His career was on the rise, so no one expected him to leave at this time.

“I’m resigning, not disappearing. Don’t pull such an exaggerated expression,” Lin Yi didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.

The mood amongst the crowd was not very upbeat, and they were filled with reluctance.

“Even though you’re from the Office of Poverty Alleviation, you’ve been working with us for so long and have helped other departments with their issues. Your departure will leave a void in our hearts.”

“We’re all adult. Let’s not make this too sentimental.”

Lin Yi didn’t know what to say. He dreaded these kinds of situations, which is why he hadn’t told Li Qingkai and Li Sijin in advance.

But he still couldn’t hide it.

“I don’t know what to say. Let’s go. We’ll send you off.”

Those who knew about this put down their work and sent Lin Yi out of the office building.

During this time, the others in the building also learned of Lin Yi’s departure and came out to send him off.

Some of the female colleagues with shallow eye sockets even quietly wiped away their tears.

A group of people surrounded the entrance of the office building. Passers-by also surrounded them to watch the commotion, wanting to know what had happened.

A small portion of them knew Lin Yi’s identity and didn’t want him to leave.

“Kid, why are you always so sneaky? I can’t believe you tried to leave your job like this. Fortunately, I didn’t go out today. Otherwise, 1 wouldn’t have been able to send you off,” Li Qingkai said reluctantly.

“There will be many times when we meet again in the future. Your son is still working at my company. When you go over to see him, won’t we be able to meet?”

“You’re right. When 1 go to Zhonghai, 1’11 definitely drink with you.”

“I’ll arrange it for you then.”

At this moment, Zhou Feng walked over.

“Director Lin, when you first came to work, the two of us never got along. But now, I really admire you. I wish you a bright future.”

“It was not easy to get your blessing.”

The two of them shook hands. They looked like they were going to forget their past grudges with a smile.

“Alright, we can still meet in the future. Everyone, you don’t have to do this. You’re making me feel embarrassed. I’ll leave first.”

Lin Yi and Xiao Bing got into the car, and Li Sijin cried.

Among these people, she found it most difficult to part with Lin Yi.

Because Lin Yi took care of her the most, she had learned a lot from him, so she couldn’t stop crying.

“Alright, stop crying. Dongsan County is only 200 kilometers away from Zhonghai. You can go there and back on the same day. You can see him whenever you want.”

“Okay, I won’t cry anymore.”

Lin Yi was also a little emotional as he ordered Xiao Bing to drive. If she didn’t drive now, he wouldn’t be able to ever leave.

The engine started, and under everyone’s gaze, Xiao Bing drove away.

“Aren’t you going to look back?”

Lin Yi leaned back in his chair and looked ahead.

“If I turn back, I won’t be able to leave. I didn’t feel anything when i was there, but now that I’m leaving, 1 really can’t bear to part with these people from Dongsan County.”

“If it weren’t for you, Dongsan County wouldn’t be where it is today. It would still be poor in the future. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that you were these people’s breadwinner.”

“I did what 1 could. Since I was here, I naturally had to do something about the situation.”

“No wonder the Central Guards Brigade is willing to let you be the team leader of Team 1. With you in charge, the future surely looks bright. I’m actually looking forward to going on missions now.”

“There’s nothing to look forward to. People can die on these missions.”

“I know, but fortune favors the bold. If you’re scared, that’s all your future will ever amount to.”

“You really have an open mind. It was a good choice recruiting you for Team 1.”

“Of course, not only is my awareness high, but I’ve also got a great figure, haha…”

Half an hour later, the two drove to Yuhang City. However, Xiao Bing took Lin Yi straight to a 4S shop.

“Huh? What are we doing here?”

“We’re buying a car..”
